Does this antenna come with a signal amplifier?

this comes with a noise filter and "amplifier" that is usb/AC powered. I had this and a Leaf stly antenna and found the un-amplified Leaf to be MUCH better. 31 channels vs. only 17!

Does this antenna require electrical connection at mounting site?

The unit comes with a little power booster box. It has to be plugged in for best results. The cable going to the antenna has to be connected to the box . But it doesn’t need power directly where it’s mounted. Works very good.

Can you mount it say on a flat surface, like a fence ?

Yes, it can be mounted on a vertical surface. You will need to supply your own hardware. If you are looking to attach it to an existing metal fence pole, most of them are 3" in diameter. The u-bolt supplied is not wide enough. You can buy a 3" pipe clamp/strap from the local hardware store for less that $2 that will work. That is how I have mine mounted.

Do you have to put the powered amp near where the antenna is installed or can I plug it in near the tv?

The Power Amp is located at the end of the cable, about a foot from where it plugs into the TV, so you plug the little wall transformer in at that location, right behind the TV.
