Goid picture but poor reliability
We bought this camera several months ago and tried to persevere. When it's working its fine, offering good live views a d recordings. BUT the connection reliability is terrible with frequent disconnections from WiFi and a clunky , often frustrating process to reconnect. We've given up and bought a Ring camera instead to accompany our reliable and simple doorbell.

Poor picture quality + recording delays
Swann’s 1080 Full HD wire free rechargeable security camera with heat and motion sensing and two way audio. Small and robust, the camera comes in black or white and has a magnetic gimble on the back for easy positioning. Regretfully, Swann don’t appear to have thought this device through. It has two major limitations and some irritations. Major problems are:1. Picture quality is poor. For all the high end specs, if you start out with a really tiny camera sensor, ‘Full High Definition’ becomes a meaningless term. The camera comes with a fisheye lens. Distracting at first, as a security device it’s actually very useful. However if you zoom in to see who is crossing your living room (or garden, wherever) then the image becomes a blur. With the camera 15 ft from me, in good daylight, zooming in, my face was completely unrecognisable. What’s more I had stopped to look at the camera!2. Camera delay. The unit’s sensor is fast, but it then takes another 6 seconds for it to wake the camera up from its sleep mode. Entering my hall and crossing to the kitchen door, (a 19 foot distance) and walking at a moderate pace, the camera just caught my back as I disappeared from view. Crossing in a hurry, the camera wouldn’t ‘see you’ at all! Not good. If you want to know who just put something through your letterbox, the likelihood is you will see the back of someone’s head moving into the distance, but not their face as they come towards your front door. This is of very little value.3. Irritations are: the camera has two lights. Lighting up blue when it’s sensor is triggered and lighting up red when it is recording. These are clearly visible and invites the theft of your camera! (Especially with its handy magnetic gimble, allowing you to gently pull it from its mount. No wires, no fuss. In your pocket in seconds!) Not to have the ability to turn these tell-tale lights off via the dedicated app, is, well.... simply madness. (How long have Swann been in the security business?....)4. unless triggered by the camera, you cannot record any footage yourself. You can take a still frame, but no footage.5. There appears to be no way of moving cloud-based footage to your own device. You are reliant on Swann. This could be a major problem if the police or a court needed a copy.6. No scheduling: this is another issue. It’s fine to have continuous monitoring throughout the night, (and recordings stored) but alerts during the night ? This should be a user choice. Likewise, if the camera is in a busy office during the day, having alerts go off every other minute isn’t great. During busy periods scheduling would also allow you to turn the camera off, thus saving battery power and the tedious task of deleting dozens of video clips. Allied to this -7. Currently the camera has no means of being switched off, scheduling or otherwise.8. Signal strength. All my experiments were done in the same room, or adjacent, to my WiFi router. Taking the unit outside (it’s waterproof) about the length of an average garden, the signal strength dropped down to 30% and, the camera gave up sending alerts.Sorry, Swann. It’s boxed up and ready to be returned. I’ve always liked the look of your kit and I was really looking forward to this purchase - and didn’t mind paying over the odds, (it’s pricey), if only it worked...

Slow to react.
The quality of the recordings were pretty good, battery life wasn't so good. The main issue (in my opinion) was the time it took for the camera to actually record and store the activations. Example, I live at the top of a cul de sac, I drove up the avenue, reversed onto my drive and got out of the car and walked through my side gate. On reviewing what was recorded the camera only captured me getting out of my car and walking through the gate. It missed at least ten seconds of the earlier activities. The camera monitors the whole time, but takes to long to go into record/store mode. I returned the camera the following day.

Okay but needs major updates for connection
Not the best camera of theirs, very poor connection with the app it keeps on disconnecting and taking a while to come back on so much so I set it up in the kitchen to test it, motion detection went off so I clicked the banner it was my brother making a hot chocolate he managed to make it and get back upstairs before the camera would connect and turn on so some major updates are needed but when it does connect it does the job I need it for (watching over the rabbit in her Wendy house)

Could be great..but poor connectivity is a deal breaker
On paper these should be great, good battery life and a nice neat package. However this is the 2nd generation of these cameras I've bought and the same thing lets them down...connectivity!Whether it's pairing to start with or during operation these aren't very good at staying connected.I have a very strong wifi home mesh system so no excuses there.Maybe I've just been unlucky but I'm probably not going to rebuy these or try 3rd gen.

Useless
If you want a CCTV camera - don’t buy this. I’ve had it 2 years now and I wish I had sent it back when I could. The picture is terrible. There is at least a 2-4 minute delay before it starts recording which is pointless for a CCTV camera. Half the time, it doesn’t even record anything when it does pick something up. The app is terrible and completely un-user friendly. The only good thing about this camera is the battery life which lasts a couple months. No point in having that if it doesn’t even record when it should do. DO NOT BUY THIS. Waste of money.

Decent wire-free camera, good improvements from previous generation
I own two of these now. I bought them to replace the old wire-free cameras of previous generation which packed up after 1.5 years. Learning from my previous mistake, I have also bought the 3-year breakdown insurance in case these new camera also suffer the same quality issue as the previous generation. These camera seem very sturdy and well-built. Picture quality is much better than previous generation and is very good for 1080p camera. Angle is very wide due to the fish-eye lens. The WiFi reception is also better than previous generation. However, they still suffer from delayed (a few seconds) recording issue like all wire-free cameras. And it takes some time (like 30s) to go back to sleep/detection mode after accessing the camera with the app which is a pain. But the thermal detection is very good for avoiding false trigger.

Very poor detection and poor customer service
I purchased this product and placed it simply (good and easy mounting arrangement) looking down from just outside a bedroom window onto the drive. No detection!Removed the unit changed settings to maximum range and still I could not get it to detect anything more than 2 meters away.Sent messages and screen shot of setting to Swann - One reply asking multiple questions which had already been answered and filled in details again and no response for 7 days.Purchased a new system and resigned this unit to looking at a bird nest in the garden.Would not recommend.
