Certified Hair Product Lab Rat - This stuff is great!
I have tried Highland Glacial, Pete & Pedro Hair Putty, Dapper Dan, Hair Dough, Baxter Clay Pomade, STMNT Matte Paste, Aveda Grooming Clay, all the Hanze De Fuko products, among others. They all either leave my hair a bit too greasy looking (Not Matte), are a bit too heavy, or have a scent that is overpowering. SO FAR, MITCH Finishing Clay has the best hold, a matte finish, and minimal buildup. I have thinner hair (not thinning hair, lol), but it's fine and of medium length. The only thing i will say it it sets very quickly. I use this on dry hair, a little goes a long way. I find myself using a dime or half dime size amount and working through hair....letting it set, then going through a 2nd time after it sets to create a bit more texture. It feels light out of the tin, but once you emulsify it in your hands, it really stiffens up, so you have to work pretty fast. But with all that being said, if you are looking for something that is not too heavy but also has maximum hold with a natural matte finish while providing volume and texture for finer hair, this would be the product. If you subscribe and save, the price isn't that bad.

Good hold, matte finish. Better now with the green cover
I bought this product with "Finishing Clay" 18 months ago when it had a dark-red cover. I liked it because it had a strong hold, matte finish, and was easy to wash out. It was good, but not perfect. It was a bit heavy, and had a slight shine, so I kept trying other brands. However, now it has a green cover and I suspect they changed the formulation a bit because it now holds a lot better than the older product did and is more matte. I like it more.

good product
purchase every 2 months. best to hold hair in place everyday. slick back look and holds all day long without using much product. does not have a bad smell. cons: hair has a slight greasy feel at end of day and overtime will leave a it of a residue on pillow case if you forget to wash it regularly as you should of course.

Paul Mitchell is the absolute best
Brief: Great product, the most matte product I've ever found and incredibly strong hold once it dries (20-30 seconds after spreading across your hands) I care about my hair more than I should. A bad hair day means I'm putting on a hat and calling it good. Paul Mitchell's lineup is the only product I have used for 6 or 7 years now. I use the clean cut as my primary because I like that it stays maliable and has nice texture. It's a great option when my hair is freshly cut. After 2-3 weeks is starts to look overgrown and if I use the clean cut it can sometimes seems greasy. This is when I switch to this particular variation. It's very moist when you apply it to your hands, then starts to dry rapidly after about 20-30 seconds. Long enough to apply it without it being hard to spread, but you have to know how you're styling it once it's in. It's not gel-like stiffness at all, it's almost like my hair would be after a game when I was a catcher in baseball. I know this is a niche group that will understand but there is a dryness and clay-esque feeling about your hair when the dust/dirt/sweat mixes under the helmet. It doesn't give much if a textured look but for a somebody that runs a 2 or 3 guard on the side on a fresh cut and goes 3-4 weeks between appointments it's a nice way to keep a clean look for the last week or so before your next cut.

Best hair styling product for men!
I've used multiple types of gel, pomade, clay, etc. for hair styling and for the longest time never really liked any of them that much and ended up sticking with American Crew. I found about this brand from some online suggestions and gave it a shot. First use I was blown away. This stuff is easy to apply, spreads nicely, holds really well, and best part is you don't really need a lot to make it work. The scent is also great, smells refreshing and manly. Also it washed off very easily from my hands unlike the American Crew which seemed a bit difficult to remove. Yes it cost more then most products, but you need less and it works great, so it's worth it.

Dries hard, doesn't stay malleable
I ordered and tried this product based on the great reviews I saw here. This has great hold, but it dries hard, doesn't remain malleable, and gets a little crusty if you try to touch your hair after it's set. Tip: Put in hair while it's damp. This stuff isn't for dry hair unless you want a bad time. Pros: Strong hold Matte finish Cons: Does not remain malleable throughout the day for style adjustments or even just running your hands through your hair. If you go very light, then you can sort of break through with your fingers. Acts a bit like a glue in your hair and gets brittle after it dries. To be clear, it's not a bad product and I can see myselfb using it in certain circumstances, but I'm rating it this because it's advertised as staying flexible/adjustable all day which it is not.

10000% must buy
I’ve been using this for years and it’s worth the money. I’ve tried several other matte styling pastes but they don’t compare. It’s a true matte finish that can hold up in the Deep South humidity. It smells great too - always getting compliments. I would suggest drying your hair completely before using. It makes it much easier to style and makes your hair look thicker.

I've used other hair products before to try and get my perfect "swoop". This stuff is great. Doesn't feel thick at all but holds like no other. Can mess around with my hair and it works well to manipulate throughout the day. Highly recommend.
