Just like what my family uses back in Brasil!
I'll write a semi-detailed review of this great little find that I bought on Prime Day. I like coffee and different ways to make it, so other than my coffee maker and french press, I was missing one of these. My opinions so far - The look: Super clean lines, shiny without looking chintsy, very angular, looks different from every other kitchen item I have (in a good way). The unit seems very well-made, nothing rattles, nothing feels cheap. The feel: the espresso maker feels top-notch with a comfortable handle, a sturdy top and a bottom section that holds the water. It's not light like aluminum, not heavy like thick steel, and it won't feel flimsy when you're using it. Using it: pretty easy! Pour water into the bottom section (careful not to overfill), place the coffee tray in with unpacked coarse-ground coffee, screw the top portion in and place on low heat with the handle out of direct heat. After a while (play with the heat to see what works for you) it'll fill up the top portion with delicious espresso coffee. Cleaning it: this is a trickier part, but not hard. Wait until the unit cools off, unscrew the top part, throw out the grounds, and rinse the parts down with water. No dishwasher, and no soap per the directions. Support: MateoJo was FANTASTIC when it came to support. The instructions that came with the unit were precise and easy to understand, and they send emails after your purchase detailing pretty much everything about using and maintaining the espresso maker. Summary: I really like this easy-to-use and absolutely gorgeous little espresso maker. Friends of mine have loved looking at it and seeing how easy it is to make real coffee. I'd recommend this to coffee enthusiasts in a heartbeat, for the price, features, functions and looks.

I love my MateoJo Italian coffee maker!
Last time my partner and I were in Paris, we stayed at this awesome Airbnb apartment. Instead of a French coffee press, which I expected, the apartment had one of these things, an Italian coffee maker. We had to actually watch a Youtube video to figure out how to use the thing, but when we figured it out, it made AMAZING coffee. I knew I needed to own one of these. So, I bought the MateoJo. When I use the MateoJo, the resulting cup of coffee is silty, espresso-like, but has a smooth flavor. I love a bunch of cream and sugar, and this coffee stands up well to that -- delivering flavor no matter how much cream I add. If you like coffee from a French press, you'll probably love this coffee. It's even better than French press coffee: it's less likely to have grounds in it and it's got more body, like espresso. The MateoJo is sturdy, well-designed, and pretty. It's easy to use. It has worked flawlessly for me every time I've used it. It's super easy to clean and it just looks great. I'm so happy with this purchase!

Quality pot for Cuban Coffee
As a newbie to making Cuban Coffee, I shopped around quite a bit for a high quality stovetop moka pot. I choose this one after checking with several experienced Cuban Coffee experts and after reading the reviews for this model and the price point. This maker is of very high quality metal. The valve works perfectly and the top screws to the bottom with a perfect seal (how threads are machined is usually an indicator of high or low quality and this one works perfectly). The mesh coffee holder is fine and cleans easily. I initially wondered why the handle was plastic but after the first use it clearly was to allow the handle to remain cool as the pot heats. The whole device cleans up easily in the sink (not dishwasher safe, according to the instructions). The handle is securely anchored to the pot so no concerns there. It is critical that you put the pot off center on the stove element so that it heats properly and the handle remains cool. I did not do that initially and it did not work since the center of my electric range elements does not got as hot. Once I move the pot off center of the element, it worked great and this matches the instructions exactly. All in all, this is a great pot and a great price.

Nice pot!
I had never run in to one of these beauties until I studied abroad in Germany this summer and was introduced to this kind of coffee maker by my host family and wow this way of making that morning cuppa really makes a difference. Unlike the French press, coffee made in this pot won't be quite as bitter, but you get a better depth of flavor than from traditional drip coffee. I had been a keurig fan, but their machine's quality has dropped and after replacing mine twice I decided to go back in time tech wise. Love my pot. My only complaint is that the handle, which is plastic, seems a bit cheap and wiggly. For the price I'm not too upset about it and it functions just fine otherwise. Word to the wise, these take a little bit of time to get the hang of using. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to boil on medium heat but you have to pay more attention to the pot on the stove or you risk overheating the metal. I wouldn't keep the coffee in this either, as the aluminum can make it taste funky. You have to keep the valve clear (or you risk the pressure build up causing an explosion) and watch for the steam. It's always better to grind your coffee fresh, and this maker requires a bit of a coarser grind. Also getting the coffee to water ratio just takes a little time to get used to. Otherwise it's a great alternative for people who want to take the time to enjoy and tease out other flavors in their cup of joe.

Also the amount it does make is perfect for a real coffee lover
I am comparing this to the Bialetti which I also have, but wanted a Moka pot at two different locations. Fwiw, I don't know why they call it a 6 cup pot. It makes about 7.5 ounces of coffee. Most people drink more tha 1 ounce of espresso. Also the amount it does make is perfect for a real coffee lover, and is probably enough to share with two people if I weren't so selfish My subjective impression is that the Mateojo uses a lighter weight aluminum especially in the the top. Is it adequate? Seems like it. The handle is significantly cheaper in quality. The handle on the Bialetti not only has a better grip but also wraps under the point of attachment keeping ones fingers away from the metal, if one is not careful one can burn their finger with the Mateojo. I sanded the rough parts of the handle mode and deleloped a more careful grip. So overall I feel the quality is less. Overall I would rate this product three stars, or average, except for the price which is certainly attractive. It just doesn't have that vibe that I like. That being said the quality of the brew is indistinguishable between the two. I really like the Cafe Bustelo brand of coffee in it. It also is inexpensive so between the price of the two one can get a good idea as to why people like the Moka pot concept. No it is not espresso, but it is between a regular cup and espresso. It creates a brew that has that slight burned coffee oil odor and flavor that turns this coffee into a rich smooth drink. I use slightly less to 4 level tablespoons of coffee. The seller warns against using a fine grind coffee in this pot. All I can say is it works just fine for me. I use it unpacked. But is also works slightly tamped. This brings me to another point. Thus far the seller has emailed me three times begging for an online review. I don't like this kind of solicitation, especially under the guise of customer service. Asking for a review is seller aggrandizement. It doesn't help me. I will leave it up to you if this pot is worth it considering the attractive price. It does deliver on quality of brew. I doesn't deliver on the basis of vibe. It is not the five star experience that the Bialetti has, but the price differential will pay for two cans of coffee! Give it a try for under $20 with two cans of coffee.....no it's not included!

NO--Stay Away! SEE PHOTOS-Silver Coating is Flaking, RUST On the Inside Already Before it was Used!!!!
Stay away! There seems to be a big quality issue here. Some people love this product and have no issues, and other people seem to find that the product tanks and is horrible. Unfortunately, I'm one of the horribles! First, I knew I was in trouble when the box for the espresso maker was in complete shatters in the Amazon shopping box. There was no appearance of attempting to assemble the box. Second, when I got it I opened it and it looked like the silver coating was pitting or chipping. I ran my hand around the inside of it and silver flakes ran off onto my hand and fingers. SEE PHOTO. Third, when I opened the whole think up, now being suspicious, I discovered more pitting on the inside. And believe it or not there appears to be rust spots. RUST! It hasn't even been used yet! But what appears to have happened was the silver coating did not coat the entire inside chambers. During the shipping process from China to RI, it appears the product had an opportunity to rust. SEE PHOTOS. Imagine what the rust will be once I start to use it! Yes, the price is appetizing. But this is really a "you get what you pay for." I had been watching this one and the expensive and original Italian one, Bialetti, and honestly just go with the more expensive one for quality purposes. I don't know about you, but I don't want a dose of silver flakes from China and rust. No thanks! Returning!

All coffee cup have residues.
I want to reply the reviews about the cup having whitish stuff inside. I ordered this item as a gift for my friend who lives in the US. I live in Italy and when she came visiting she loved the one I had at my home but we forgot to get her one while she was going back. OK..... here's the thing about MOKA (stove coffee cup) after using it once or twice the colour inside the section where the water goes will turn grayish or whitish that's because the water boil and heat up the coffee to steam it out. It's in all the MOKA I have seen. It's everywhere here in Italy this product MATEOJO is actually a good product. Now don't get disgusted when it turns whitish just put hot water in a bowl and add vinegar (Italian call it ACETO) put in the cup and leave it for about 1 hour to soak then wash and rinse. Now it wouldn't be brand new ever again because once used it's used but it will make you feel clean and sure it will be clean. Am going to add mine I got for just โฌ6 anyway in Italy it's cheap but this coffee cup is 1 year old and I do the soak off every 4 days because I don't drink coffee but my husband can drink coffee 3 times daily that's why he is Italian and I get visitors who drink always too. Please enjoy the product and just keep clean but know that it wouldn't spark but it's clean. I mean mine is like this you should see some people in Italy theirs is old and still they use it. ๐๐๐ well go spend money on very expensive one but still it will get brown and dirty someday.

Smaller than described, apparently not durable and overpriced.
First let me say I have been using stove top espresso coffee makers (or "grecas" as we call them in PR) for over 55 yrs. I had never bought this brand but I read the reviews and decided to try it. I ordered the medium size because it said that it "makes six 2-ounce cups" and I wanted one that would make a single 12onz serving of strong coffee. Well, the water reservoir, filled to capacity, only holds 8onz of water so no way that it will make six 2onz cups. I tried it as soon as I received it and the coffee brewed was ok. However, I noticed several things that make me think it will not be durable: 1. Good grecas are much heavier; this one is too light; 2. The handle is too thin making it uncomfortable to hold securely; 3. When brewing, steam come out of the handle hinge instead of only through the spout, which makes me think that the handle will get damaged real soon. Something else I do not like is that you need to use both hands in order to hold the lid open while pouring the coffee (as you should). I should have noticed this, so that is my fault. This is not a "you get what you pay for" thing because this is not cheap. You can get better grecas much cheaper.
