Right in step with their brand-new movie, here come Alvin and the Chipmunks in their videogame debut on the Nintendo DS! The Alvin and the Chipmunks video game follows Alvin, Simon, and Theodore on their latest mission to play during the battle of the bands event "Rockathonapalooza".

Three Stars
Ok as bought for the grand kids and am grateful I was not around to hear it.

A shaky performance
Alvin and the Chipmunks on the Nintendo DS does not actually relate all that much to the movie other than the fact that the Chipmunks are rock stars and that Mr. Human Protagonist, Dave, is running their tour. Not to mention, the song roster presented to you in this little cartridge consists of fourteen various rock songs, but with the Chipmunks being the singers for each one. So every time you play a song, you'll be listening to the glorious high-pitched voices that are the Chipmunks'. This is either an awesome or irritating thing, depending on how much you'd tolerate their singing to begin with. The game is a rhythm game that's structured similarly to a Guitar Hero interface; you tap records that are moving downwards at proper timings, and every now and then, you do a small exercise like tapping numbers in order or yelling "Alvin" (aka blow) to the mic for bonus points. Unfortunately, this game suffers from a severe lack of polish. For example, the graphical/sound effects are basic and don't really provide a sense of accomplishment, and is it just me, or do the long-note records have such a hard time being detected by my stylus?! Furthermore, the best graphics in the game seem to be the Chipmunks' performance on the top screen, but the game has you focus on the bottom one instead.....All I can say is: Don't expect too much from this one.

Alvin and the chipmunks DS game... Good Game. I guess...
Okay I got this game and I love Alvin and the chipmunks and I love their music this game is really good but really quite to easy and to short. All you do in the game is read the story line and hit album records with your stylus and listen to chipmunk songs while your hitting the records with your stylus and follow the story line I mean I already beat the game the first day I got it on the easy mode now I'm half way already done on the medium mode. See there's three modes easy, medium, and hard. Basically this is good game for cheap entertainment and to keep you busy for about 2 or 3 hours and then you end up beating the game. Trust me don't pay 18.00 dollar's for this game like I did at GameStop it's defently not worth that much It's more like it's really worth 8 or 10 bucks in my opinion but still a really great game personally I love the graphics and music in the game. I think this game is way better than goofy Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero has nothing on this game. Go Alvin and the chipmunks you guys "Rock Out Loud"!

ALVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When it comes to video games based on movies, most of them don't really showcase a value for what they are worth. When they do it is rare, but in this case it just misses the makr by a longshot. I loved Alvin & The Chipmunks when they were a cute and funny cartoon series that lasted for several years 1983-1989 on NBC. Sadly though, the feeling of the chipmunks has gone down. Now with a movie based on the classic cartoon series, they have really lost there luster. But, as a video game, they absolutely don't have a prayer, even a music game that really is just for movie fans only.Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Game brings a newly designed edition of Alvin, Simon & Theodore to the Nintendo DS. Sadly, the game tries to tackle against the bigger music games like Jam Session for the DS, and the hits Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Unfortunately, the game isn't anything new to gamers. As you try to match the moves of the DS Stylus of 40 pop songs, as without any doubt sung in Chipmunk style like Blink 182's All The Small Things. The graphics are nice, but the gameplay doesn't actually shine with vigoarnce at all.All in all, Alvin & The chipmunks is one of those few games that actually isn't worth its weight in gold or bringing back die hard fans of the original Alvin & The Chipmunks cartoons from years ago. Instead, I actually recommend that if you own a Nintendo DS, get a game that has more meaning like The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. This game will have people saying Why, ALVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Graphics: CSound: DControl: CFun & Enjoyment: D+Overall: D

Not Worth IT
My kids loved Alvin & Chipmunk movie and this looked like a good game for them - but it's not worth it. The pluses are the music, the rest is all minuses. It's only one game - or one type with no variety. The easiest level is not easy enough for kids, and I actually found the harder level easier to work because it made a bit more sense with the timing of the music. But most if it really didn't make any sense with the timing at all of the music and it gets boring really quick. Definitely not worth it - and especially not worth it for kids under 10.

Interactive Soundtrack
While I too miss the 80's/90's cartoon and the new digital "Munks" are cute in their own way, this game lacks the charm of the older ones. It's not so much a game as an interactive soundtrack. The music is good, but other sound to the game has holes like no voice overs or background music for the bland text. And the graphics are as good as can be expected for the DS, however they still are very stiff and repetitive. I wouldn't recommend this game for anyone except the die hard Chipmunk fan and someone under 7 years of age. I don't hate this game, and I find it enjoyable.
