IT'S PROBABLY NOT THE BATTERY, AND YOU CAN FIX IT!
Well, it has been almost 3 years now since I bought. And for the past month or 2, I had trouble with it bogging down and actually stopping after only a minute or so. The effect was just as if the battery had gone bad, unable to store a decent charge. I really love the curved blades, cuts my whole head in only a minute or two, so I came back here to buy a new one. But then I thought, maybe I can just replace the battery. I'm an electrical engineer and the kind of guy who can fix anything, really. In fact, if I can't fix it, it ain't broke. So first thing I did was break out a 2mm allen to remove the stationary blade, as it looked like that would have to come off to allow the electronics cover to be removed. The moving blade underneath is floating on a spring mount, and pushes up on the stationary blade as you loosen the screws, so keep the stationary blade pushed down as you remove the 2 screws as it looks like it is possible for the screws to take flight if you don't. And once I got the stationary blade off, it was like every hair I had ever cut and every drop of oil I had ever applied was all gummed up in the mechanism. I started cleaning there with an acid brush, then discovered that the moving blade and the spring-loaded mount it's attached to can just slide off, revealing a whole sh!tload more hair and oil. Yes, I know it is touted as waterproof, but I have never exposed it to water. Sharp moving cutting tools and water, no way! But then I noticed the little water icon pointing down at vents just above the blades. Anyway, I finished my cleaning, got every little hair brushed and blown out, put it back together, and lo and behold, when I turned it on it was working like new - it wasn't the battery! So apparently, I probably caused the problem by never rinsing with water via those little vents. So take your choice - either risk water corrosion/blade desharpening by using water to keep the mechanism clean, or periodically disassemble as above and clean manually every year or so. Even though the moving mechanism, which is just a shaft coming out of the main body with an eccentric pin that moves the spring-loaded blade back and forth appears to have a good seal to prevent water from getting inside of the main body (perhaps another possible future failure point?), I will stick with the latter. Because even with rinsing it in water, there still might be hair that is trapped and doesn't come out unless you take it apart. And then ending up with a mix of water and oil and almost certainly a flock of hair inside of the mechanism? No thanks, I'll play it safe. Happy dehairing. Oh, one more point - I have always operated it with the charger plugged in. If I recall correctly, the original long-lost instructions advised against that. But fuggem, I know better. And I have always been careful to not let it overcharge. As soon as that light stops blinking, I unplug. Why? Because my specialty as an EE is power electronics, and I have seen cases where a battery charger was too aggressively programmed and shortened battery life because of it.

Has it really been that long?
I bought this thing back in 2017, when I'd decided to learn to cut my own hair, rather than pay a barber every month. I'd had another set of clippers before, but they just didn't do it for me. To begin with, I have sensitive skin. When I say "sensitive", I mean that you could write your name on my head (in bumps) using a razor. My barber at the time had been cutting my hair since childhood, so he was the one who recommended clippers, as opposed to a razor. It's been almost 6 years since, and I can't remember what was wrong with my previous set, but immediately upon purchasing this one, it made cutting my hair by myself as simple as using a comb. It fits right in the palm, and even at its barest, it hasn't cut me (save for an already-present bump or two getting nicked), just my hair. Actually, I've been using it on my face, too, with no issues whatsoever. No bumps, no cuts, and as low a shave as needed. Granted, it hasn't brought me to "bare scalp" level, but my hair grows so fast anyway, that it wouldn't matter. Let's talk cleaning. Simple: just run it under water. By that, I mean run water over the netted part, through the slits that lead to the blade. It should get it relatively clean, and the little added brush can do the rest. Get some oil on there, just between the blades, and dry it off. Done. Before use, oil it up, and get to it. It's not overly-complicated, and as for taking the blades apart, I've done it all of two times in 6 years, just to clean out any hair inside. Using the brush, it's as simple as running the blades through water and brushing off the hair at the same time. Screw them back together, and it's good to go. Other than the oil, a hand-held mirror, and a barber's cloth, I'd say a replacement blade is a good idea. Back when I'd first checked for one, it wasn't available. I went on to use it for nearly 6 years without a replacement, and was happy with its operation all throughout. Now I think I'll get a replacement blade (probably should've checked back regularly, but whatever). Battery life seems fine. I generally just charge it the night before, then set to it the next day. Might not need that much, but I've had at least 2 cuts (25-40 mins each) off of one charge, and I didn't think to check how long a third could go for. Somewhat related, but the way I make sure I get the back of my head (and behind my ears) is to use both the handheld mirror, and my phone's video recording. The mirror is good for as far as the periphery can get you. If you don't have another mirror behind you to reflect the back of your head, then simply shave what you're comfortable with, then record it with your phone. Check how it looks back there on the video playback, then do what you feel is necessary with that image in mind. Hope this helps someone.

Easy do it yourself hair cuts
I bought this because I’ve had the same 1/4 inch hair cut since 1991 when I joined the state patrol. And still have the same cut afterwards. It’s a great price to pay to save yourself the time and money of going to the barber. You can easily maintain your preferred hair style yourself with this device. It comes with more hair length sizes that you’ll ever need but always nice to have if you wanna buzz the kids hair. It cuts and trims very very well, you can’t even feel it cutting your hair it’s so sharp. It’s nice and wide cut saves time and it has a perfect weight to it that fits in your hand nicely. It feels very durable and it’s way quieter then you’re standard trimmers are. I wasn’t sure if I wanted this one or the con air one that’s round but I’m glad I chose this one after all. It seems to charge pretty quick. If I’m going to cut my hair I usually plug it in in the morning that way when I’m ready to use it in the afternoon it’s ready to go so I’m not sure how long it actually takes from dead to full charge. And if you’re in a rush you can just use it with the cord plugged in if you wish.

Greatest Hair Trimmer on the Market
UPDATE #2 - So I reduced my 4 star to 3. The build quality is sketchy. I've been on my replaced unit since my first one died on me for around shockingly, another 8 months. This time? The rubber edging on the unit has begun to peel from where the blade sits. That is really crazy considering I baby the damn unit. It has literally peeled out of nowhere... I'm not sure how annoying it will become but this brings back to Remington... They are like the German car maker of hair trimmers. They look nice and might feel good, but the lack of build quality begins to show shortly. It's really a bummer because the actual functionality of the unit and design is still awesome. Just don't be shocked if it falls apart or dies on you rather quickly. Again, we are talking months from original purchase. I had a WAHL that my sister bought me when I was 15. I threw it out after purchasing this. That was 16 years later... UPDATE - So I reduced my 5 star to 4 after my unit ended up dying on me about 8 months after the purchase. I reached out to Remington however who had me provide them with some etched model information and they sent me back a complete replacement unit as though I had purchased it again. While I thought that was great customer service to do that, it just made me slightly hesitant on their build quality which was something I always questioned in the past from previous Remington products I owned. I mean cmon here, I owned a Walh hair trimmer for 15 years and barely oiled it up and it always got the job done. I own this product for 8 months and it goes dead... you can't even compare build quality. With that said, I'm hoping they figured out what caused earlier models of this unit to potentially go dead and the unit that they sent me has the fix because I do love this machine but again, the build quality is questionable. Original review - So I didn't want to immediately write a review on this a week after I bought it feeling that I was just still caught up in the hype. Here I am a little more than 2 months of owning it. Let me say, BELIEVE THE HYPE. I'm on the internet, so I can say this without feeling the eyes balls shifting on me. I'm a hairy dude. Born hairy, and I hate it. I try to always keep the hair in check. I'm not just hairy in the common spots, I'm hairy like, if I crash land on an island and get found 10 years later, I might be shot or caged thinking I'm big foot or something. With that said, I was previously rocking the Walh Peanut, and it's sufficed over the many years (on my second), that I've used it to get the closest trim possible for my head and various other areas. The problem with that was the length of the blade is rather short. Obviously designed more so for clean cuts on the hair, face. Not ideal for large areas. In comes Remington HC4250. Holy cow. I used to own some Remington trimmers in the past and thought they were weak, at least compared to Walh. This one changes the game boys (and gals?). The length of the blade is probably the largest of any trimmer I've used and in comparison to the peanut, it's 2 peanut blades put side by side, plus some length to give you an idea. It makes the chest trimming a BREEZE. I'm talking about, what normally would be like a 15 minute affair between chest and legs, down to 5 minutes or less. It's effortless to grab and cut all the hair, especially because of it's angled blade. It's almost like a mouth consuming all your hair. While I also don't prefer cordless as I feel they aren't as strong as corded, I do appreciate that you can use this one both ways and have used it to the cordless route on a trip once. It was very convenient, however I'm back to corded whenever using it at home. It does come with multiple attachments, however as I'm always going for as close as possible, I've only used the blade. Has been flawless thus far. I keep it clean after every use and oil it every other use. If I had 1 complaint, it's that, my unit did not come with the travel case, but rather in a straight up box that looked like it was refurbed. I have no idea how that happened as I bought it direct through Amazon via Remington, but I never received my travel case with it. Not sure what went wrong but didn't really look into that until like a month later and then thought it was too late to care. Regardless, a travel case doesn't make the product and reviewing the product itself, I have to say over 2 months later, this is the greatest trimmer I've ever used and know that I WILL buy another one in the future should anything happen to this unit. UPDATE #3 - I've bumped it back to 4 stars. You might noticed I I purchased this in 2017. Yeah, I had a replacement unit within that same year. That replacement unit, despite the rubber falling off still works to this day and holds a charge as good as the day I got it. To me, that is some kind of technological battery miracle. I've had plenty of other rechargeable trimmers/devices where the battery weakens over time. The fact that this is on its 8th year and still holds a charge as good as the day I got it blows my mind. Not to mention, it just works, period. If it wasn't for the rubber peeling off and my initial experience where the unit died on me, this would easily be a 5 star device.

Great Product. Awful Warranty Experience.
UPDATE: I originally wrote a glowing review of this product because I genuinely loved it. Unfortunately, after only a few months, the unit failed. What followed completely changed my opinion of the company behind it. I contacted Empower Brands expecting a normal warranty process. Instead, the entire experience left me feeling as though I had done something wrong simply by asking the company to stand behind a product that was only a few months old. I was instructed to cut the power cord and send photographic proof along with the serial number before a replacement would be provided. There is an obvious problem with that demand: this is a rechargeable unit with a removable power cord. Cutting the cord does not disable the unit. I explained this and offered to return the complete defective product instead. What bothered me even more than the procedure was the tone of the correspondence. I found it downright disgusting. Rather than feeling like a customer seeking warranty service on a nearly new product, I came away feeling as though I were under suspicion and needed to prove I wasn't trying to scam them. I'm not interested in being treated that way. So I'm done pursuing the warranty claim. I would literally rather spend my own money on an entirely new unit and start over than continue dealing with this process. That's especially frustrating because I really did love this product. My original review wasn't exaggerated. When this unit worked, it was fantastic. It cut my grooming time dramatically, the curved head worked beautifully, it was quiet and comfortable, and it gave me exactly the close buzz I wanted. That's what makes this so disappointing. A warranty should give a customer confidence that a company will stand behind its product when something goes wrong. It should not leave a customer who bought the product in good faith feeling like a suspected criminal for asking the company to honor it. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’ve owned high-quality Norelco trimmers before, but they always took too long for what I wanted: a super-close buzz without turning grooming into a full-time job. I almost passed on this because of some negative reviews, but since it was a known brand, I figured I’d try it myself. Glad I did. This thing cut my shave time by probably 75%. At first, the wide curved “moon-shaped” head felt unusual compared to traditional clippers, but after a couple uses, I realized the design is actually the magic. It contours naturally to the shape of your head and covers a LOT more surface area per pass. Once I trusted the process and stopped using it like a standard trimmer, it became incredibly efficient. A few other things I really liked: • Much quieter than most clippers • Gives a very close buzz without needing a razor shave • Lightweight and comfortable to hold • Battery life seemed solid • Makes maintenance feel easy instead of annoying If you like a clean ultra-short buzz but don’t enjoy fully shaving your head, the product itself performs exceptionally well. Unfortunately, after experiencing an early failure and the warranty process that followed, I can no longer recommend it with the confidence I originally did.

Well designed and great for travel
At first I wanted to give this 4 stars but changed to 5 for the reasons explained below. I purchased this after once again conducting a fruitless search for a dual voltage hair and beard trimmer to take overseas, as I didn't want to take a heavy converter in addition to the necessary plug adapters. I'm guessing that the reason it's difficult to find a dual voltage trimmer or razor is the 60MHz alternating current in the US versus 50 MHz in Europe (and probably many other places), thus causing problems with proper functioning of a trimmer/razor even if dual voltage because of the speed difference. I came to the conclusion that a battery operated trimmer was clearly the best option and this trimmer did indeed work very well. I returned only a few days ago from 2 months abroad traveling through Europe and used this trimmer for both my head and beard approximately every 5 to 7 days, as I keep both hair and beard closely cropped. Because it's not dual voltage, I did indeed need to take the voltage converter to charge the battery, but the trimmer itself is so small and convenient that it pretty much offset the minor inconvenience of packing the converter. For years I've been using a heavy duty Oster set of clippers that are downright awesome, with a powerful motor and self-sharpening blades that only intermittently require oiling. The motor in this Remington is clearly not as powerful as in the Oster, but the tradeoff is minimal size and weight. What this ultimately meant though is that the Remington worked best when fully charged, thus requiring recharging after every use. This is not really a big deal as it can be fully charged again in 15 minutes or so. Another result of the less powerful motor is that the Remington also works best if a light application of oil (included) is applied before every use. Again, this is not a big deal and the small oil bottle was quite easy to pack along. Functioning: I have to give this a 5-star rating because it is intended for trimming head hair (versus beard hair) and it did so with very minimal fuss, without throwing hair all over the place, trimmed evenly, rates extremely high on ease of use, and gets the job done efficiently and quickly. I'm impressed and now prefer it over my much more burley Oster clippers and I hope that it can last for years to come. It just makes the job so dang easy. Because it was the only set of clippers I took along to Europe, I had to make due with it for trimming my beard also. Frankly, I'm very happy with the results despite the design clearly not being optimized for that specific task. Once you do it a few times, you'll start getting very good, even results with little fuss. I should note that I do not have a goatee or other style that requires precision trimming. I simply needed my entire beard trimmed evenly and I was very happy with this trimmer's ability to do so despite the less than optimal design for doing so. Why did I almost give this 4 stars? Well, beard hair seems to give this trimmer more problems than head hair. I don't know if beard hair provides more resistance or what. But one change I made pretty quickly was to make sure I trimmed my beard first, when the clippers were fully charged, to avoid hairs getting caught/pulled, which is quite annoying. If the clippers were freshly oiled and fully charged, no hairs got caught or pulled. So I count that as a success. And I can't take away a star because the clippers don't necessarily perform optimally at something they weren't exactly designed to do in the first place. So the 5-star rating relates exclusively to the ease and and excellent usability when trimming head hair. I can conclusively say that I'm very happy to have found this well designed set of clippers. I'll update the review further if they develop any problems in the next year or so.

Excellent, versatile shaver that lasts.
I originally bought the Remington Shortcut Pro back in 2017 and it has been excellent ever since. That's nearly a decade of reliable use from a single unit. The battery finally started dying and could no longer hold a charge, and that's when I knew it was time to buy the exact same model. I use it to shave my head with no guard — basically a zero. What I love about it is that it doesn't give you a close shave. It leaves just enough hair so you don't have that fully bald look. If you want a razor-close shave, check out the newer Philips head shaver. But that's $150 whereas this is under $60. The curved blade design works naturally with the shape of your head, making it easy to do yourself without missing spots. It's compact, easy to handle, and gets the job done quickly. No fuss, no complicated setup — just pick it up and go. This trimmer isn't perfect and I see some people have had issues but I had this for 9 years. For me, it was excellent. Highly recommend!

Great for self haircuts!!! Save $.
I cut my hair myself for the first time with this today. Very good effective a lot of options for different lengths. I bought myself a small mirror handheld so I can see all around my head and I used this shortcut pro. Very happy with the results so far you just have to charge when blue light blinks.

La mejor máquina para cortarte el cabello.
Es una joya! Ya había tenido varias maquinas de otras marcas pero esta supera en calidad, corta parejo y la cuchilla es amplia. Se maneja muy bien. Inmejorable.

There is no 220V adapter that comes with it!
It is a brilliant piece of equipment but the charger that comes with it is a 110V adapter. So please do check before you plug into your wall socket !!! I had to use a converter to us it here in Singapore.

Excellent
Just bought a 2nd one of these in case something happens to the first one. Absolutely fantastic and pays for itself after 2 haircuts. It's a no brainer.. Very easy to use. You need to stand in front of a mirror then hold another mirror behind you to do the back of the head. Can get barber style mirrors from ebay fairly cheap. I use it to keep the back and sides tight and can get a better result than some of the barbers I've been to with no cost and no waiting. Cant compare this to other head shavers as it's the only one that I have used but cant see how it could be any better hence the purchase of a second one. Some reviewers have mentioned that the combs break easily if dropped so have been careful not to drop them. Battery life is very good and have had no issues one year on but to be honest it has paid for itself many times over so if it packs in tomorrow I will happily buy another.

Excellent way to give yourself an even haircut.
Excellent way to give yourself an even haircut between those trips to the barber. I had been looking at reviews for some time now looking for a way to give myself a basic, even haircut at home. There are other models of these types of cutters that have a round-style cutting blade, but the main complaint that most people have is that it generally gives a very un-even cut, so I decided against getting one of those and getting this from Remington. I was not disappointed. First of all I was surprised on the size and how comfortable it felt in my hand. It is very easy to use in either hand and I can get everywhere around my big head very easily. It also comes with a metric ton of different size attachments. I actually read another review by someone who gave it a bad review simply because there were too many attachments which I found pretty funny. If you don't need the other ones, put them in a bag and throw it in a closet somewhere and just keep the ones you want/need. You might need the other ones later. A haircut with this takes me 5-8 minutes depending on how long my hair is and how much trimming I need to do around the edges. It does a very good job. You might need to do more than one pass over an area if it is very long, but it only takes a few seconds more. It is also great that it is completely water proof, making clean up super quick if you did a lot of cutting with it. Also great to have when you just need a quick cut before going out with friends/family. Also saves you a ton of time/money by eliminating trips to the barber. Also this is great for use on kids depending on the haircut. A friend has two boys who both have short hair cuts and he bought the Remington to save money on the family budget going to the barber with them. He loved it so much that he uses it now too. It works great using it by yourself and also works great using it to give someone else a haircut. Worth every cent I paid.
