The pieces screw together, so you don't have to worry about them slipping down after setup. The height is good and the poles are very light. The spikes worked well to hold my tarp grommets, until the wind picked up. I used them to hold up my shade tarp while I gardened during the heatwave last Spring. They were small enough to store in my SUV's storage area, so I could keep my poles and tarp on hand wherever I traveled.
