DOES NOT WORK-INSUFFICIENT CRYSTALS INSIDE
This product is supposed to be a chilling bandanna for hot days. I have an old one and wanted a second one to swap off with due to the current heat wave here. I wetted the bandanna and it did not expand at all as it should have, remained flat. Did not cool at all. Cheap product which does not do what it is supposed to do. I am returning it.

I think these would work better for lower humidity areas where evaporation occurs. Not TX. Too humid it seems.

These are 2 very different products based on the same principle - evaporative cooling. Evaporative cooling works the best in dry climates (think Arizona), and has the least effect in humid climates (think Florida). The Ergodyne Chill-Its 6700 Evaporative Cooling Bandana - Tie The 6700 is similar to most all the other cooling bandanas that contain gel beads which absorb water and release it slowly. There are many of these products on the market and they seem to differ mostly on the amount of absorbent beads they contain. This particular model is more generous bead wise than many. Ergodyne Chill-Its 6700CT Evaporative Cooling Bandana with Cooling Towel Ergodyne Chill-Its 6700CT Evaporative Cooling Bandana with Cooling Towel - Tie, Lime The "CT" is does not contain the absorbent beads, but does have a microfiber towel on the inside of the "bandana" which (supposedly) increases its evaporation rate and therefore its cooling rate. It is much lighter than the 6700 (and all of similar technology), it also"refreshes" much faster. "Which one is better?" is subjective and is largely dependent upon your access to cold water, how long you intend to use it, and how much the excess weight (of the hydrated beads) bothers you. For occasional use you should also consider the tried and true cowboy version of the same concept: the standard cotton bandana dipped in cold water. The 6700 will last by far the longest as moderate cooling properties go. As with all of these genera, they do tend to warm up and their cooling is less pronounced over time (as the day progresses); recommended if you want some all day cooling without refreshing the bandana. The downside is you have a heavy thing around your neck and that it may emit a (very light) slime that some find offensive. The slime is minimal and can be avoided by not overhydrating the "bandana" (think Viagra warning), or freezing it. The 6700CT may be preferred by anyone who is bothered by the weight and/or "slime" of absorbent gel "bandanas" and has more access to cooling water during the day. It seems to stay a little cooler longer than a plain cotton bandana (dipped and wrong out), but not much. hth, high

Amazon didn't pay me for this review, and if they did? I would ask for 5 more. This is the first type of body cooling product I've had; and it's very quick to get recharge its cooling capability (I leave it in cold tap water for 5 minutes), and it's VERY long lasting. Are you expecting an ice pack in a bandana? Might be the wrong product for you. Are you looking for a bandana that CONSISTENTLY measures less than 8-10° degrees than the ambient room temperature that I measured using a laser thermometer? (For example, it was 84° in my room earlier, and this measured at 73° for almost 4 hours after soaking it for water only 5 minutes). If so this is what you need. Will it freeze you to death? No. Will you be saved from the crazy 110° Arizona heat? Probably not. Are you in a situation where a little extra bit of cooling will help you be comfortable in your own house, office, or yard that you work in? Then yes, it's absolutely perfect, and worth all of the $2 I spent on it. Only word of advice from my end is wait until the second "soak" to judge this product; the first soak was decent and covered a small amount of the product, but the second amount is when the gel really got activated for good and absorbed alot of water (didn't see that disclaimer in the instructions). This is just my initial review after 24hrs, and even if it only lasts 5 days, for $2 it's worth it to me. Happy cooling everyone!

Pretty flimsy, doesn't hold up very long. I wouldn't freeze it, and use it strictly in cold water if you want it last longer.
