Q: Is this price correct???....art stores sell marble powder for $2 /16 ounces, not $13 /16 ounces...does that difference pay for the "free" shipping??

This may by calcium carbonate and not true marble powder which is calcium-magnesium carbonate. Our marble powder is sourced from an actual marble quary. Calcium carbnonate (art store marble powder) can be useful as a filler.

Q: What is the volumetric measure of the 1lb bag? I know the average density of marble, but I was hoping to know what 1lb of ground marble equates to in³

I would estimate that the unopened package is approximately 3 1/2“ x 5“ x 1“. Hope this helps . It’s a bit squishy.

If mixed with a clear resin, the color is an off white.

Q: Is this very hard after cured?

White marble has been prized for its use in sculptures since classical times. This preference has to do with its softness, which makes it easier to carve. Our marble powder is actual milled "white marble" from the quarry. However, the ratio of marble powder to a bonding agent such as KastEZ Resin determines the hardness of the finished cold cast product. Resin of course is softer than stone or marble, it being a plastic. Thus, the higher the ratio of resin to marble powder the softer the surface (it still is harder than plastic though). So if you are looking for a harder surface use less of the bonding agent and more of the powder. Think of your bonded marble surfaces you have in your house such as a sink top. That top was made with marble powder and resin. That is the hard surface you will achieve with 2 parts resin and one part marble powder. However, you can achieve a harder surface still, with a half and half mix ratio - you are just using more marble powder.
