What I understand is that it prevents a wire from picking up noise from the wires running inside the house and prevents the wire from acting like an antenna for, perhaps, a nearby radio tower like I have a few 100 feet from my house. I have been linking a lot of synths together with a small mixer and did find some noise that my speakers played. I inserted on of these in the 1/8 stereo RCA jack as instructed and the problem went away. I have used 3 of them so far and may use more. The product works as expected for me and was very easy to use.
