NVME/SATA Enclosure

I’ve been using this SSD Enclosure with an SSD for Time Machine backups, and it’s been fantastic. Setup was quick, completely tool-free, and it’s worked flawlessly ever since. Transfer speeds are excellent, backups run fast, and the enclosure is small enough to carry easily when I travel for work. After two years of regular use, it still looks great - no scratches or wear at all. The aluminum body feels solid and helps keep the drive cool during long transfers. Overall, a high-quality, reliable enclosure that performs perfectly and holds up beautifully over time. Highly recommended!

As honest as I can be: I bought this enclosure to replace my aging 4TB USB 3.0 HDDs. They are of the older standard, small and served their purpose well. I got tired of write speeds of less than 100MBs and decided to try the new WD_BLACK 8TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive M2 2280 as additional fast storage (truly a game changer for speed) (motherboard M2 slots utilized). Money well spent. A year and a half later, I'm still running my older USB drives to transfer files from my main computer to my backup computer. Now the review. I bought a new: 1.) SK Aluminum M.2 to USB NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure Reader, Tool-Free USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gbps NVMe PCI-E 6Gbps SATA M-Key / B+M Key Solid State Drive External Adapter with UASP Trim, for SSDs 2242 2260 2280 2.) and my third WD_BLACK 8TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive After putting it together, I anxiously tested the new drive's transfer speeds. With the type USB 3 to USB C cable I received just over 350MBs. No where near the new M2s capability. Next the USB C to UBS C cable which gave just over 450MBs. While changing the cables I noticed the enclosure was VERY warm to even hot to the touch, not a put in your pocket and run temperature. So I drilled 12 holed into the case, 6 at the cable side and 6 at the lock end on each side. It's still VERY warm but not overly hot. Better. A new USB C to USB C (longer than the OEM short cable that came with the enclosure) tested with a result of over 650MB write speed. Way better. PROs: Decent price, Fast transfer speeds with your own cable. CONs: Not great cables, Hot without the self induced drilled holes. For the price I would buy again but request the company take this review seriously.

Very good enclosure, I have dropped my ssd a few times and its still working perfectly. It doesn't get hot either. I usually keep my SSD plugged in and will frequently move it to exchange files but I haven't had any issues and I've had this enclosure for over a year.

The best thing about it is its portability, as it is the perfect size for solid state drives. The casing gets a little warm, but the drive inside has never stopped working. They could really improve it with a design that dissipates heat.

Completely tool less. Fast easy assembly. Transfer rates are great, even for lots of little files that choke most enclosures. This is great for permanent or temporary housing of NVMe drives for storage or transfer, respectively. This is now my go-to enclosure. Like with other USB enclosures, you can’t pull drive details or logs. It does take slightly longer to initialize and show up on your machine than other enclosures, but the performance more than makes up for this. Drive has no issues showing up in PE environments if you need to clone. Some people state theirs gets hot. Mine got pretty warm, but I think that is more dependent on the NVMe. I transferred about 1.5TB from a Samsung 990 Pro extremely fast without any extreme temperatures. Excellent product. I added it as a favorite. I highly recommend.

I recently purchased the SSK Aluminum M.2 to USB NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure Reader from Amazon for $18.99, and I must say that I am quite impressed with the product. The enclosure works beautifully, just as advertised. However, some people complain about the top speed of the device not reaching full potential, but it's important to keep in mind that it states the top speed is 10gb/s, and the drive needs other efficient hardware to reach full potential. (I just noticed in my pic the particular PC I am using has a USB-C that I am not plugged in to which would speed this drive up, it is nice to have it be able to plug in both types) While some people have complained about the tiny thumb screw, I believe it's understandable given the size of the drive and enclosure itself. The product is priced reasonably at $16-20, so I don't think people should be whining about it. The USB-A and C cables included with the product worked just fine for me, although they are a bit short. I purchased this product to expand an additional SSD hard drive in my computer that I installed games on, and it was great. I was able to copy my existing SSD drive onto a new expanded size Drive and then place what was in the enclosure in my computer. I took out the SSD that wasn't my computer and now I have a massively sized external hard drive to play around with. It was definitely worth the money. One thing to note is that unlike a thumb drive, files that are deleted do not permanently disappear. They are put in a trash can, and you can restore or undelete the file by pressing Ctrl Z. Overall, I'm quite happy with my purchase of the SSK Aluminum M.2 to USB NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure Reader. It works great, is slim and easy to use, and has a solid drive holder that is not going to slip or come loose. The holding screw is a bit tricky to install, but once it's done, it's great. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a slim M2 enclosure for their backup or just a huge USB thumb nail type drive with tons of storage. Make sure to use the "Safely remove hardware" function to unplug this, or turn the PC off before unplugging to prevent corrupting the drive.

Worked great. Simple to use.

It appears to be very useful and worked great. However as I was taking out an SSD in preparation for using another the screw dropped out and I can't find it. Is there a way to get replacement screws so I can continue to use it?
