Tablet looked and worked as if brand new
I bought my first Nexus 7 tablet when the second generation was released in 2013. I've used it daily for almost 6 years and had been looking for a newer version of this excellent tablet. Unfortunately Google Nexus has not released a third generation of this tablet and I had a few small scratches on the screen and was concerned that there was nothing currently available in a 7 inch tablet that matched the Nexus 7 if my Nexus 7 ever stopped working.. Later, I bought a 7" Amazon Fire tablet; it was ok, but much thicker and with a lower screen resolution than my Nexus 7.Therefore I decided to buy another Nexus 7 and was debating a brand new one, at around $155 for a brand new one or a refurbished model at $55. I hadn't bought Amazon refurbished tablets before and was concerned that it might feel "used."I decided to take the plunge on a refurbished model and when I received it, I was extremely pleased with the condition of the tablet; I would not have been able to determine that it wasn't brand new. The only difference between this one and the one I bought 6 years ago is the packaging; there is no package and instructions like the one I previously bought. The charger was an Asus as well; I had read some reviews that stated that they had received different chargers on their refurbished Asus 7" tablets.Speaking of chargers, here is a tip that may have helped me get 6 years' of use of my original Nexus 7. This tablet can be charged using a wireless charger. I bought a Nokia charger at a local telephone store and I rarely use the charger that has to be attached to the tablet via what to me appears to be a flimsy plug. I had heard that wireless chargers charge more slowly than those attached with a cable, but my Nokia charges my Nexus 7 in a few hours. It sits on my nightstand I just let the Nexus charge overnight.Highly recommend my refurbished Nexus 7!

Everything about this tablet is perfect! I got this Nexus 7 2013 to use ...
Everything about this tablet is perfect! I got this Nexus 7 2013 to use with my DJI Phantom 3 drone because of so many good reviews for both the tablet, and how well the DJI Go App works with it (They weren't lying!).Now, I was a bit skeptical about buying this tablet because it is a couple of years old, and it is "Certified Refurbished". Some reviewers spoke about their tablet having scratches, ect, but I got lucky. My tablet, to my knowledge, was in mint condition. Plugged into the charger and it turned right on. Updated to the latest updates and I was good to go. It also came with a nice charger that even had a touch light. Never seen one so I really like it! Another concern was "how fast and reliable is this thing?". Started off searching the web and this tablet runs very fast to my surprise and very rarely have apps freeze. I also have different fire tablets for me and my family. And while those are great tablets, they are only good for small games, internet browsing, ect. This Nexus is so much better with its 16gb storage and 2gb ram that anything I intended on doing with my tablet I have no problems at all. And my biggest worry was while flying my drone, but I have yet to lose connection or have the app freeze mid flight (knock on wood!). So overall I am extremely happy with this purchase and definitely recommend!

Touch screen did not work
This *may* be refurbished but I cannot believe anyone check it at all. The touch screen does not respond 90% of the time rendering the device useless. On top of that, it is shipped with android 4.4 which would require at least 3 or 4 software upgrades just to get to android 6 (which is the highest this device supports), and with a seldom-responding touch screen, it is impossible to do the upgrades.I bought this because I broke the screen on my nexus 7 which I have had for 5 years. I opted instead to buy a new screen and replace it myself, that would be far less frustrating then a touch screen that does not work

USED not refurbished
I don't like how the description claims "little to no wear" but yet this much coveted 2013 Nexus 7 (2nd gen) came out of a generic box looking like this (see pics). The screen is extremely scratched (who treats their devices like this anyway? I don't get it!) and the back of the Nexus has light scratches as well. Not only is the screen extremely scratched (with a couple really deep gouges that my fingernail actually grabs) but the digitizer itself appears to have water damage in it down both sides (see pic).I've bought a Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet (refurbished), an Asus Zenpad 3S10 (refurbished), an Ipad Air 2 (refurbished), and a Nexus 5 (refurbished) and every single one of them were practically brand new in appearance and function. This 2013 Nexus 7 is NOT refurbished, it is USED! Thumbs down for the seller for purporting this as refurbished! However, I have always wanted a 2013 Nexus 7. I bought the original 2012 Nexus 7 when it first came out and I fell in love with it. Subsequently my love affair with Nexus devices began following up with 2 Nexus 5's, a Nexus 10 and a Nexus 6.With all of that said, the seller is fortunate that 1. It's a pain in the bum to return things, 2. This tablet actually works very well despite the glaring cosmetic damage and 3. I'm star stuck that I finally have the most coveted Nexus device and for only $68! For those reasons, I still give this device 4 stars - at least until it dies on me. The seller only gets 2 stars from me. It would only be one star but the tablet got here quickly, so I'm giving them 2 stars. Finally, after it arrived it was completely discharged. It was so discharged that after having it on a turbo charger for 15 minutes, the notification light would only flash 5 times but it still wouldn't turn on when pressing the power button.Only after leaving on the turbo charger for 45 minutes and then pressing AND holding the power button for like 20 - 30 seconds, did it finally power up.That was a relief because I was beginning to think that it was bricked!Upon powering up, it was only on Lollipop. It went through 2 large updates and 2 or 3 incremental updates before finally settling in at Marshmallow 6.0.1.All in all, I still feel that if this tablet meets your form factor then it is still a relevant tablet even in 2019. I just feel it's that good due to its snappiness, light weight and bright screen.Speaker attenuation is very low despite having speakers at the top and bottom. However, I reason that if the low volume ever began to annoy me, then I would just root the tablet and install Viper4Android. As it is, because it's still so snappy, I will leave it stock. For now.
