Good info but most is common sense
I just adopted a 1 year old deaf dalmatian, hoping this would give me some tips on how to start some type of training. It will get me started but most of the info is common sense stuff you should already know if you are raising a dog or puppy.

Great help with training deaf puppy and not deaf teen
Best guide to having a deaf puppy . The positive reinforcements tips in the book helped immensely with training my deaf Australian cattle dog , and helped stay calm and gentle with training my not deaf 1 year old cattle dog. The book reminds you on what eliminates are needed to ensure a well rounded training environment. I cannot thank “deafdogsrock.com” enough for recommending this book and providing outstanding support for humans who take on the beautiful life that is a deaf dog.

Nice book
So glad the author wrote this book. Full of good information. Rather light on the training part. Overall, worth the buy.

Scant Training Info
I've found more information free on the Internet on training, suggested key skills/cues to teach, common hand signals used (with photos too). The info is sound, appreciate the modern, positive approach, but especially since the subtitle's first word is Training, "Training, Education and Communication..." I thought it would cover actual training more thoroughly. It only touches lightly on two skills: attention/eye contact and hand targeting.

Very basic
It’s a nice book about general training, not very specific about deaf dogs, kinda disappointed was hoping for more specific and training protocol for training living with deaf dogs, not just a summary of basic training

Great book
After being frustrated seeking advice on training deaf dogs, I found Terri’s Facebook page supporting Deaf Dog owners, she gave me some advise & told me about her book. This book gave me the extra incentive to train my deaf puppy. It’s a great read and will encourage you to commit to your deaf dog. I highly recommend it!

Great information!
Very good information. My only criticism is that I wish it had a little more information about training older or rescued dogs. There was also no info on vibration vs spray vs shock collar discussion. I did love the training tips to start out.

Very informative
Good tips and great information. We are thinking of adopting a 2 year old deaf dog. I think this was helpful in making our decision. Can't wait to meet him!

Very helpful!
Our senior dog is losing his hearing. It’s very reassuring to have a book like this to give us an idea of what to expect and what we can do to prepare for potential future deafness. It’s great to have a plan now!

More opinionated than theoretical
Unfortunately, the author spends most of their time telling you what not to do with your dog, instead of giving you actual technical training advice. This is clearly meant to push a positive agenda, giving some accurate information, but too much time spent on negative opinions. Another big problem is the amount of "clickable" links present throughout the book... This is so annoying! The book should have been edited more concisely and not sold in an e-book format. I also was surprised at the suggested list of reinforcers to be used while training, which included things like: hot dogs, cheerios, peanut butter and spray cheese... These are inappropriate food items to use with dogs, especially if you'll do a substantial amount of daily training. If you are a professional, I don't think you will learn anything new and it's a shame... Too much time soent on semantics and ideological debates, not enough actual useful information.
