Works for blini, with a few adjustments
I decided to take a chance on this to make my yeasted blini recipe, since I was hoping to make prettier, more perfectly round blini. While you still have to mix this type of batter in a traditional bowl and spoon it into the "pen" - so you can't mix the batter in this - it does work to make more even and discreet blini. However, I would suggest two adjustments:1) remove the nozzle/valve insert so you're left with the open hole. You can invert the nozzle insert to use as a plug between batches and then keep it upright in the proper batter-down position in the base. But blini batter is thicker and stickier than pancake batter and cannot make it through the valve, no matter how hard you squeeze.2) You might want to consider multiplying your blini recipe, at least until you get the hang of using it. Since the batter is thick, it sticks to the insides of the pen. I did end up having to invert to remove the valve on my first attempt - so more batter stuck to the length of the pen then if I hadn't needed to do that - but it's not like you can scrape the batter bowl to get one or two more blini out of the batch once you transfer it to the pen. Normally my recipe makes 16, but I barely got 13 out of this.I did, however, need to get the hang out of squeezing, so if I perfect the squeeze, I could probably get 14 out of this, as long as I don't invert the pen at all. Some of my blini are bigger than others, but they are definitely more pretty and round than when I scoop with a spoon. Overall useful, but it will take some getting used to. (Oh, darn - guess I need to make more blini!)This is very easy to clean, and it is also very easy to squeeze. I have some hand injuries and still had no problems loading, squeezing or cleaning. So I am pleased with this purchase, even if it's not strictly for buttermilk pancakes!

awesome tool for my cupcake buisness
got this to help fill my cake pop pan, was surprised on how large it is, but its great for my large batter recipes. It filled the pan with no mess and great ease. It works wonders on cupcake pans, helps me control portion better. I like how it completely comes apart for cleaning purposes, both ends screw off the rubber nozzle pushes out. Its easiest to fill it upside down, the base is wider, but I guess you can do it ether way. I really like this product, so far have seen no flaws, its says its dishwasher safe, I'm about to find out in 10mins. I will order me another one, maybe two.

Overall I am satisfied with this product despite a few issues.
I only gave this a 4-star rating because I did have a few minor issues with it. 1.) The drip-free valve on the cap makes it very difficult to get the batter out (I only use pancake batter for this.). I ended up cutting out the valve, so that it is just a regular hole now for the batter to come out, which is fine. 2.) The plastic is pretty stiff, which makes it rather difficult to squeeze the batter out, but it's manageable. On the plus side, I like the fact that it is dishwasher safe, although I do wash the base and cap ends by hand because I don't want them flying around my dishwasher.

I really wanted it to work
I believe this was recommended by ATK for making pancakes. I really wanted it to work and took it camping. Thought the bonus of not having an open pitcher or bowl for batter would be less issue with bees in the batter and less mess.First off, its a pain to fill as the opening isn't that big. Next, the opening is small so the batter doesn't come out very easy. It's also stiff plastic and tough to "squeeze" to get more batter out.It worked okay (not great) for the first pancake or 2, but s the batter sat and thickened it became absolutely impossible to use. If you were to do blueberry or chocolate chip batter, forget it. They would be hard pressed (no pun intended) to get out through the opening.I have gone back to a simple mixing pitcher and don't think I will try a batter dispenser again unless I need to do assembly line pancakes, and then I would go for the more expensive large restaurant grade stainless dispenser.Would not recommend.

Perfect Pancake Pourer
This is the perfect tool for pouring perfectly round pancakes. A couple of hints for successful use: Don't make the batter too think or it will be hard to squeeze it out. Don't let the batter sit in the container too long or it becomes thicker and hard to squeeze. This will not come out thin enough for you to make perfect animal shapes it that is what you were hoping for.But it will make it easy to make normal round pancakes easily and with no mess!

Well-designed product
I have intended to get a batter bottle for. a long time. Part of my concern was in being able to clean it when I was finished. Well, this brand has solved that problem very well! The top and bottom lids come off and so does the pouring spout, so you can wash up everything thoroughly! My one caveat is: you may need to use both hands in order to manipulate it well. I had trouble being able to hold and squeeze it effectively with one hand. As long as you're okay possibly needing both hands, this is a greatversion of the batter bottle idea!

Sad I can’t return it at this point
I bought this to replace another pancake bottle I had. It seemed to have good reviews but I don’t know how. While it looks good and works fine for the first few it was awful after that. The back end leaks and the necessary air pressure isn’t there to keep the flow and makes it hard (almost impossible) to use.I tried to use it about 6 times before I just gave up and bought a new one from a different brand. Which works great! Just not this one
