⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better Than Any BBQ Sauce I’ve Had in Years
I’ll admit, I was skeptical. When a product has this much hype and a "cult following," I usually expect to be underwhelmed. I was wrong. Bachan’s Original Japanese Barbecue Sauce isn’t just good—it has officially replaced the staple sauces in my refrigerator. The Flavor Profile If you’re expecting a thick, syrupy, Kansas City-style BBQ sauce, this isn't that. It is much closer to a high-end teriyaki or a refined unagi sauce, but with significantly more depth. Balance: It strikes a perfect chord between savory (umami), sweet, and salty. Freshness: You can actually taste the ginger and green onion. It doesn’t have that "processed" aftertaste found in many shelf-stable glazes. Consistency: It’s thin and pourable, which makes it an incredible marinade because it actually penetrates the meat rather than just sitting on top. Performance & Versatility I’ve put this through the ringer over the last week to see where it shines: Grilled Chicken Thighs: I brushed it on during the last 3 minutes of grilling. It caramelized beautifully without burning into a blackened mess. Stir-Fry Base: Added a splash to some veggies and noodles; it provided a "restaurant quality" finish with zero extra seasoning needed. Salmon Glaze: This might be the best use case. It cuts through the fattiness of the fish perfectly. The "Spoon Test": Yes, it’s good enough to eat straight.

Best marinate ever!
I've tried so many different things to marinate my chicken with. I eat it about five times a week so I'm always looking for something to change it up a little. I've tried using soy sauce I tried balsamic vinegar I've tried ponzu, and numerous homemade concoctions. None of them have penetrated the meat like this stuff does. After only an hour or two of marinating I cooked the chicken legs and not only were they tender and perfectly cooked, but I was surprised to find that the sauce really did penetrate the chicken - all the way to the way to the bone! My new go-to marinate. LOVE IT!

Thin and runny, but very tasty
Consistency is very runny (like soy sauce), not thick like I expected from a BBQ sauce; nevertheless, I really like it. Has to be used as a dipping sauce or marinade since it doesn't stick to the food.

Absolutely delicious and versatile!
This is hands down the best barbecue sauce ever! It has the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and it’s not too thick. It goes amazingly well with chicken, beef, stir-fries, or even as a dipping sauce. A must-have in the kitchen!

Excellent light flavorful sauce
Very good light flavor. Not overwhelming at all. Probably best on chicken breast or those items. Maybe a little weak for pork ribs

Diappointment
This was a massive disappointment for me personally, maybe not for you. It was highly recommended by my good friend and as a self proclaimed foodie and amateur chef, I was curious and so I bought it. I thought it was going to have some interesting ingredients. I really should have just looked at the ingredients before purchasing. It's basically something I can make on my own, and have been making for the last 15 years so that's where the disappointment comes from. It's just a more watery texture teriyaki sauce that you can buy most grocery stores these days. That said, there are many ways one can use this. I personally like simmer the sauce a bit more to make it sauce richer by evaporating the water more and then using a brush to brush on to meat as you slow roast it. Or if you are the type that likes to put it on as a condiment, put this in a sauce pan and mix some starch (i personally like rice starch but potato starch works too) to thicken the sauce to your liking and then put in top of food or just even rice and eat it. Some may end up not liking this but I also like to mix with mayo and give it that sweet and tart, and creamy taste for burgers and or meat dipping sauce. Anyway, going back, I'm disappointed and I would never buy it again but for those who can't make it themselves, you'll probably enjoy this a lot.

Wonderful product, highly recommended
I love this sauce! I'd eat my arm if it was slathered in it. I wish I could get larger sizes. The vendor is great to work with, and ships fast. Costco used to carry it in a larger size, but stopped carrying it. This is my go-to stop to satisfy my craving.
