I finally broke down and admitted that I'm getting older and need an upright posture on my road commuter. So...i bought this stem as there are few choices that are not black or some obnoxious color.The stem is adequate. It's more cheaply made than other origin8 products I have bought. The finish is horrible to boot. I'll probably learn to live with it, but it's nothing too be proud about. It's poor finish will stick out like a doe thumb in when decently appointed bikes. But, it's hard to find polished stems or steel ones. I recommend searching for vintage options or doing out big bucks for a better one-which I would have done if I could have found one!So .. I'm thankful i found it, but disappointed in it's quality. The universal sizing really amplifies the fact that you are truly strapping soft aluminum straps around your handlebar stretched tightly and held on by some quality stainless bolts.One thing to consider, you may have to increase the length of your brake cable if you are coming from a low rise stem. I now have to, though I didn't think of the possibility.

I felt a little stretched out on my bike. I wanted to change out the generic 100mm stem that came with it to a 90 mm. The construction and finish on the Origin8 was much nicer than the original. One note, the stack height on this stem is 40mm, my original stem was 45mm. I need to install an additional 5mm spacer on the steering tube in order to get the top cap bolt to tighten up everything properly. Also, I used a little blue LocTite on the face plate bolts to keep them from coming loose.

Did exactly what I needed. I have a 54cm road bike, and wanted to reduce the reach (might have longer legs than most my height, and therefore a shorter torso). I went from a 100mm stem to an 80mm (this one), and it helped even the weight distribution and made the ride more comfortable.The quality of the stem appears to be good, and it's fairly light. It looks good, and I'm happy with it.Mounting it to the bar is a bit trickier than for stem with a "plate", as with this stem you have two vertical brackets. Just ensure that you tighten them all very evenly so that there is an equal amount of screw left showing between the stem and brackets for all four screws.

Fits all bike handle bar types! Very happy with this stems.My wife is petite and has a bad back. Her existing handle bars were way too far out on her road bike. This stem shortened the distance and makes rides much more comfortable for her.Note: I previously had returned a bike stem (60mm) which promised to fit a road bike. It didn't. This stem however works beautifully.Pros:- Fits all bike types, including my wife's road bike.- One of the shortest stems on the market.- Good price, especially on Amazon.- Easy to install, well-machine screws.Cons:- None!

Once I got the correct size it installed very easily and the quality was very good. The item came quickly. I was happy with the product. But it was very confusing for a novice like myself to decipher the correct size. There should be a way to know what number is related to the size of the vertical stem, the horizontal handlebar, and the distance between them. Also is the distance center to center?
