Awesome LARGE compass works fabulous at drawing big circles. Very well constructed and easy to use. Great value for the price. Highly recommended.

High Quality Compass!
My son decided, when he saw a compass on his school supply list, that he wanted "one of those old school ones because they look cool." Mr. Pen exceeded our expectations with this compass. Great quality, durable, functional and esthetically pleasing. Will definitely be buying more Mr. Pen products in the future!

It's definitely a compass tool
It's ginormous (!!) and very sturdy but hard to carry around. I use protractors for drawing, but this isn't something I can toss in my pencil case, and it's a bit too heavy duty for drawing on certain papers. It seems like it's more so made for construction material like wood. The pencil holder is small and not very adjustable, so none of my prefereed pens fit in it. I'm pretty sure TSA would take it because the pointy edges too, so don't try taking it on a plane! It isnt great for me. But it's a great buy if you're a professional, or otherwise need a heavy duty compass tool or a home defense weapon. Lol!

8” compass it’s great!
Mr Pen 8”compassThe mustache sticker is going on the tool box!!I was able to draw a 45/64”(a little bigger than 5/8”) circle with a round pencil with no flats on it w/ a 9/32” diameter pencil. When I opened it all the way I got a pencil mark from the point out to 9-5/16” or 18-5/8” circle. I guess you could push the pencil out further and get a bigger circle but with the pencil and pivot point at that angle it would be difficult and the pencil wouldn’t be on its point. Just get a bigger compass or a different drawing tool. When I first opened it the tool was very stiff to open. Once it was open I worked it back and forth a few times. I set the arc under the thumb screw and set it for tight 2” circle and drew a bunch of circles and when I went to reset it I realized I didn’t tighten the thumb screw but it held a very tight tolerance to the 2” circle. That speaks to the tight tolerance this is made. Everything about this is heavy duty and wouldn’t hide this with just woodworking tools, it’s quality for any trade.

Not very well made.
Used it maybe 3x before the spring went flying across the room. The release for the quick open and close is lost forever. Not happy with how this is made. Literally all I did was pick it up and try and to adjust it. Nothing. Have drawn 5 circles before the thing popped. Now its all floppy and possibly useless.

All is good except the pencil ferrule diameter.
Definitely industrial in its make, which is what I wanted. I would buy a smaller one if they made it, and I think others would too.I am now shopping for another though, and that's because of the small pencil/pen holder. The design is great except for the diameter of the pencil ferrule. It has a screw-down knob for securing the pencil, so why is it designed so small?Recommendation to the manufacturer: increase the size of the pencil-ferrule, so mechanical pencils and pens can fit, even if you need to slightly lengthen the set-screw... and make a 6".Due to these oversights, I'll have to find one somewhere else.
