Great Results and Long-Lasting Color
Great dye product. I ordered two bottles, and the results came out perfect! It worked really well on my shirt, and it looked brand new.

Careful with already stained garments
I had a family member stick some chapstick in the wash and it stained some of my white t-shirts. I didn't want to give them a really dark solid colored dye, I just wanted something to even out the stains... it didn't work and that's my fault. If you read the instructions they tell you to wash everything off of the shirts unfortunately because the chapstick oil was baked into the shirt it made the ink appear darker and made the stain look more noticable. No biggie since it was a test run. If you have any stained piece of garment just understand that the dye might adhere to the shirt more. I imagine that there is some type of technique that could create an interesting stain/wash for clothes -- maybe next time with more preplanning.

Easy and Quick
product was easy to use and dyed my clothing very well. Just make sure to check if your fabric has a coating that prevents dye from penetrating.

Fairly Okay Dye Liquid!
This is an okay item; you just have to use two bottles to really get the job done. A little overpriced!

Unbelievable, so easy
Wish I would have known this years ago , turned out awesome , I love black carpet and all interior actually . I used a pump up handheld sprayer , it was wasteful , changed to just a spray bottle , i mixed 3 hot water to 1 dye , worked amazing , didn’t stain anything but the carpet , eve rinsed off hands and bottle . Looks like new , Jeep TJ , I used 1 1/2 bottles , now if it needs any touch up it can be done in the Jeep . PS I also did my seats , wow amazing . Just the material part .

Didn't do what I wanted
I bought these in black and navy blue for my old jeans. They didn't work so well. The Navy Blue turned my jeans into a weird blue color that is not any typical jean color, and the black dye only helped make my black jeans look a little newer, not as much as I had hoped.

This the better one from Rit Dye
I normally use this one just by removing cap and seal from the bottle and then placing it inside the washing machine drum, on top of the clothing, making sure it sits vertical. Then I add the right amount of salt and hot water via the soap dispenser or by pouring it directly on top of the clothing inside the drum. Start the hottest longest cycle (on a Bosch is "towels") and that is it. The bottle will empty itself after a couple of swirls and will mix with the water quickly and provide homogenous result. This will avoid making a mess on your soap dispenser, which is likely made of white plastic, it will stain and will take forever to clean up. No way i will put this thing trough the soap dispenser again, I did it once and took forever to remove the dye from it. Other than this the results are good; I wish the dye did not fade as fast as it does with the following washings though, since it starts to fade after 3 or 4 washings, even in cold water.

Does this look black to you?
I bought the black dye, followed every single instruction to an obsessive level of precision and accuracy, aiming for the “ideal”—very hot water, salt, dish soap, stirring, and using pure white cotton items for dyeing. Then I added a touch *more* of the dye and increased the dyeing time to 60 minutes as suggested on the bottle to ensure a rich, dark color. That glove is still wet (which makes it look darker than it’ll actually be when it dries), and it’s still barely a heather grey, nowhere near black. I’m sure that after a wash or two, it’s not even going to be that grey; it’ll just look like a really filthy, dingy white. Deeply disappointed in Rit, which I bought because it’s supposed to be the standard for fabric dye. What a waste of money.

Easy to follow instructions, but the color washes out easily.
We used it to try and recolor some older clothes and a cap that started to lose color. The instructions are easy to follow and we did everything as instructed. We even let some clothes soak a little longer, just to make sure (and to empty the bottle), but after the first machine wash the color already started washing off again. Same with the cap that is only hand wash, after the first wash, the color started fading again. Sadly not recommended.
