99621 Lay-Flat Discharge Hose Kit, 1-1/2-Inch by 25-Foot PVC Hose, with Adapters

My pool man had shown me how to work the levers on my pool equipment to drain the pool. However, I have never done so and could not remember how to do it. I always add water, never have a need to drain water. Recent rain in my area added a lot of water in my pool and the water level is way too high. In order to get a quick fix, I ordered a Sump Pump. I needed a hose. So, I ordered this 1-1/2-Inch by 25-foot, Lay-Flat Discharge Hose Kit. I did not use the included fittings that came with the Pump. I used a fitting that was in the hose kit. Everything went as planned. There was no drama, the water was gushing out at the end of the flat hose. I was able to drain out the desired amount of water very easily. After I am finished using it, this hose lays flat and can be rolled/folded easily and not too heavy. I was able to move it and the pump easily. This 1-1/2Inch Diameter Flat Hose works very well in my application. While the pump has varies fittings that could accommodate 3/4“, 1”, 1 1/4” and 1-1/2” Diameters hoses, I opted for the one that can connect to the largest diameter hose. That pump has a Flow Rating of 45000 GPH. The water that is being moved (Volume) is set by the pump output. However, the speed and pressure inside the hose are controlled by the diameter of the hose. Choosing a smaller diameter hose would force the water to a higher velocity and pressure. Both are not desirable. I do not want to increase force of the water that is gushing out of the hose as I am not using this water as jet spray. Raising the water pressure inside the hose also means more stress on the hose and have more chances of water leaks at joints. I suggest that when using a sump pump to drain water, always choose the largest diameter hose that is possible. This hose kit has the connectors that fits a lot of common sump pumps. I am just glad that I made the right choice. Footnote: - Pardon the long explanation, I am a retired engineer and sometimes tend to go overboard on explaining.

Worked great. It will kink a bit when draped over something like a railing. It doesn't stop the flow, but does create a pressure pulsing that may affect GPM a bit but I sure didn't notice when draining my hot tub. I'm use I could make some type of curved metal feature to avoid the kinks but not worth the trouble. If you don't want that get the same size in a rigid hose and deal with the weight and storage space required. I don't know about leaks or anything like that. I plan to be careful when rolling out and rolling back up. If you are using this as part of an automatic sump setup and leave it laying out, I'm sure the sun and weather will cause deterioration. Again, just get a better hose. But for draining a hot tub twice a year, I see no problem with this item.

Works perfectly, thick high quality great for multiple projects

Arrived new, as listed. In the box is the rolled hose, hose clamp, the 2 hard plastic black adapters and an instruction sheet. I ordered this initially from Amazon resale, listed as 'Like new', to save about $4. That was a mistake as I returned it due to wrong description and being quite damaged with a non-usable badly bent clamp, and who knows if there would have been issues with the hose itself. I have a 1/4 hp 'Superior pump' (Model 91250) with a 1.25" discharge outlet that includes a 3/4" adapter to connect to a regular garden hose. Most garden hoses available for consumer retail purchase are either 3/4" or 5/8" diameter. Needless to say, the flow limiting step will be the smallest diameter component, being the hose. To get full use of the 1 1/4", you need a hose of 1.25", or larger, though a larger diameter hose is still going to limit the flow due to the 1.25" discharge outlet. Hook up is easy and intuitive. The 1.5" diameter hose, 25' in length is adequate for my use, namely, to drain a swimming pool and spa as needed. It is significantly faster than using a common 3/4" garden hose, saving several hours. The hose itself is well made with decent thickness material. It is easy to unfold and roll back up and no leak seen during first use. The only reason to knock one star (5 to 4) is the fact you have to watch and correct/reposition how the hose lays to avoid the invariable kink that will happen with angulations short of the ideal straight 180 degrees course (Whenever you change the course of the hose from vertical to horizontal). In that sense, a good stiff garden hose is better. I suppose there are more rigid reinforced hard plastic tubes, PVC pipes and elbows that could be devised (Visit your local Home Depot or Lowe's), if you want to aim for perfection. Overall, accepting some compromise, it is a good purchase and would recommend and buy again. My advice, however, is buy it new and avoid anything less than that from Amazon resale. Thank you.

Excellent hose (I use it with a sump-pump to partially drain a swimming pool). The material is very strong, and really does both lie flat and pop out to a tube under pressure. No leaks, fits perfectly to my pump and standard connectors, and performs very well.

I thought I needed a hose to connect to the sump pump so I can drain my pool and did not even realize that this product existed until I saw it by accident the other day. I just got it in today. It works absolutely amazing. Within a couple of minutes, I was able to drain about an inch and a half of water From the pool. The hose comes with a clamp and it holds on extraordinarily well allowing the sump pump to push the water through without the hose coming apart. The hose was long enough, where I was out to get it through the screen door and it could drain directly to the exterior of the home. Great product!

Very effective at a reasonable price

This is actually a 1.25 hose that is adapted up to 1.5 inch threads. This is rather pointless because the hose is going through a little under 1.25" restriction (maybe 1.125") since the 1.25" hose has to fit around the barb connector and that will effectively make the entire hose 1.125" not 1.5" ID. Circular area = PI * Radius Squared. 1.125 ID = 0.50625 radius = 0.0.99 square inch area. 1.5 ID = 0.75 radius = 1.76" square inch area. This hose only caries about 60-70% of the throughput as the title advertises. That being said the hose is good quality and does what I need it to do, just be aware what you are buying and the reduced capacity that comes with it.

This hose really allowed for a lot more flow when draining the pool. Quality is good, it lays flat when empty so you can coil it back up for storage, Which is a lot better than dealing with a ridgid hose. Overall I recommend this if you'd like to speed up the draining ( or filling process)

I got this to empty a pool. Turns out its a good addition to my hot tub emptying strategy

It was a very good price, being inexpensive considering the options available out there. I have 1000 gal Hot Tub. It takes me about 15 min to drain the tub another 10 mins to clean the tub and about 45 mins to an hour to refill my tub. So approximately 2 hrs to do what it was taking me about 4.5 hours to do previously. It is powerful, quiet and not a single leak or problem with the pump
