Mounting does not secure them to the lid. I just glued them & they work great. Easy install with hole saw.

Just what we needed
The pull handle on the storage hatch on our boat broke last year and the door no longer stayed closed. This was super easy to install (I got the old one off and this one on while my husband was loading up the cooler); the fit was great. The only problem was the door was too thick and the screws were too short for the thickness of the piece on the back of the door. I was able to use the (thinner) back piece from the old latch just fine; the screws were stripped from the old one, so I'm glad the back piece worked and I didn't have to get longer screws. Held up to two straight days of boating so far. The key hole looks really easy to unlock, but it's pretty much as secure as the original was, and we're not looking to leave anything super valuable unattended.

Used for Latch in Ford Escape back floorboard. Ford said I needed to replace whole door for 89 dollars. Theirs did not lock. This works well
