Amazing instrument!
This instrument is a lifesaver! I bought it to survey the lot of the house I purchased, to plan for new construction. The lot has a large flat section, but also significant asymmetrical slopes in front and back. The back of the lot is not even easily accessible, but visible, with a steep downslope. I was able to measure everything in length and elevation pretty much perfectly, certainly well enough to be a guide for my preliminary building plans. I was able to measure the size and location of the house, setbacks, distance to the edges of the lot and flat parts of the lot, width of the street out front, etc. I used it in conjunction with a good target https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BNY7NE?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details that made certain measurements much quicker and easier than without. A target like that is a must, IMO. The most impressive thing was that I was able to measure the back of the lot with a 40ft high, 70ft deep downslope (~32 degrees), with only a concrete drainage ditch at the end to target. I did all measurements form the top of the slope. The measurements, even with such an unreliable target, were repeatable enough and crosschecked well enough to be usable (within a foot). Ex: height should be the same when targeting the same point at the bottom of the slope from any part along the top edge of the slope. I got good enough measurements even without a tripod. Measuring the length, height and angle of the slope would have been pretty much impossible without a tool like this! The indirect measurements on this device are Just awesome! Quite easy to access in the menu, though easier would be better, maybe with a few more buttons on the face (it's also dumb that it doesn't remember settings between starts). It tells you the depth or height, but on the same screen it also shows the distance to the measured point (the hypotenuse of the triangle), as well as the angle. I wish it would tell you all 3 sides of the triangle at once. Of course the third side can be calculated using trigonometry or the mode can be changed to measure the other side (height or depth). The thing is amazing for measuring interior dimensions of rooms. So much quicker and easier than a tape measure! It also seems quite accurate at shorter distances where you'd normally use a tape measure, even at a few inches, though you can't measure less than about 5 inches in front of the lens. I checked against a tape measure and it was quite close. Having said that, it's good to have a tape measure along with this, as some measurements are easier and more accurate with a tape measure, especially at short distances. Long story short, this is an amazing tool that I wish I had known about a long time ago! But it's most indispensable for surveying.

10/10 would recommend
I can't recommend this enough to people that need to take precise measurements fast. Can't believe how many professionals don't have this. Yes tapes work, but if the span is over 13' and you are working at height and don't have a buddy this is such a time saver. Watch 2 dudes in a lift try to take a measurement for 30 minutes failing because they couldn't get their tape to reach without breaking and falling back to them like a limp ****. I had enough time to finish my task at height with the crane, get down out of my lift, walk to my tool box, grab my disto, get back to my lift and up to height AND take the measurements for them before they could figure out a way to take the measurements with a hard tape...Just saying it's a lifesaver when you need it. The camera comes in very handy when working during the day/in bright areas where it is hard/impossible to see the red laser dot.

Compact and easy to use
Wow this is the real deal. High quality with a great screen display for making measuring far distances easy. Itโs compact and get fit in your belt and is easy to use. It definitely will save you time. The price is high but it definitely has ROI in the long run

The Definition of Upgrade
Got this to upgrade from our ancient laser distance measurer. Its got some really neat bells and whistles like the camera but I find myself still manually looking to confirm the laser is placed properly. I haven't really used it outdoors or for point to point, I'm probably never going to use most of the modes other than the basic length measurement mode. But its great that it is there! The device is definitely a bit heaver then what we used to have, but that is clearly the trade off for having a nice screen on the thing. The ability to connect to measurement apps that work with LDMs is great as well. My only real issues with this device keeping me from giving it 5 stars are: 1. It will always default to the min max measuring mode instead of the typical length only measuring mode, meaning every time I boot it up to use it for a job I have to change the mode to the length mode which can kinda get annoying... You also cannot change the default mode. 2. It saves previous measurements up to 50 previous ones also sometimes an image to go along with it. However you can't bulk clear the history, while this isn't an issue that breaks the device or how I scan. It's definitely annoys me a bit that I can't clear all these measurements that are taking up space that I'm not using. I will update if anything else comes up, but for now its nearly perfect I would say.

I use for Residential Appraisal Inspections
I most like the zoom feature when measuring longer outdoor distances. The laser is brighter than they Dysto I've used. I also like the fact that the images are stored so I can reference them if I want to. I have not had any issues with battery life and I love that I don't have to buy batteries with this model. I ordered the model that required batteries first and returned it for the upgraded model. I have found when measuring long distances in direct sunlight that you have to wait several seconds before the distance registers. In those cases it is also important to keep the unit as still as possible. I favor the constant measure function. I've measured long distances in the shade with no problem whatsoever. Indoor use is terrific. Beam is bright. My hands can get shaky so I rely on the zoom function to make sure I get an accurate measurement especially exterior dwelling dimensions. I highly recommend the Bosch GLM400C Blaze to other appraisers. I feel much more confident on my inspections.

Bosch GLM400C outdoor laser measure
So far, working very well. I chose the 400C model that uses AA batteries rather than the internal nonremovable rechargeable lithium cell. I use externally rechargeable NiMH batteries, to avoid the risk of damage from battery leakage. Accurate and easy to use. I have not used the Bluetooth features, with which some people have had difficulty. Beware that you need to push the small red button on the side to release the plastic reference post before attempting to remove the battery cover. The post determines whether the distance is being measured from the flat bottom of the unit, the middle tripod mount, the front lens, or the end of the post (in a corner for example).

Lots of features - read the manual
Bought this not long ago. Initially just used it to gather live measurement data. Recently found the ability to capture the image showing not only the distance, but also the photo to show exactly where the measurement was taken. I've also used this with a long surveyor's stick to locate the survey markers on my property as I'm about to rebuild a fence and retaining wall. The measurement capability helped me quickly locate the survey pins - put in place 31 years ago.

Quality has dramatically declined
Had to purchase new one because lost the one I had that worked great and was it was a replacement for one prior that stopped working after couple years (gets heavy use) as it also worked great. Newest on from June 2026 doesnโt have distance and wonโt measure over 35โ and that there are several surface colors will not measure (lighter tans and grays are the biggest one). Have gone back to an older Bosch from 10 years ago without the screen and it works 1000 times better. Have seen some different brands at half the cost might try next time as just can see taking another chance on this one at that price.

Great Product!
I perform inspections where I need to measure the outside perimeter of homes (on occasion interior areas). This has performed well in all kinds of weather from bright sunny days to overcast/cloudy/snowy/rainy weather and has not stopped working. On brighter days, I do help by casting a shadow over the device with my notebook. Whether this helps or not I'm not sure as it still reads both ways fairly well. I've dropped it a hand full of times on different terrain (hard and soft) and it still functions no problem. It drains the batteries quicker than I'd like, but I do use it a lot during the week. Longer measurements do take a little bit to register (on low battery) so ensuring you have spare batteries available is recommended. I own the Bosch Laser Level (which came with the smaller laser measure which got wrecked and stopped working when my basement found it during some flooding), and loved both; and now this.

Impressive!
Got this to work with MagicPlan (Ipad app). I was a bit skeptical for the price, but no regrets with the app compatibility aspect alone. Connected easily to it, and was wonderful during a big house move. We got the whole 3D schematic of the house within a few minutes and now know that it's accurate as well. In general, this was easy to use, and my dad was impressed. The different locations for buttons to make it measure was great for our bigger vs smaller hand sizes.

Great digital tape measure - average camera
High quality digital laser tape. The camera is not very clear gor my application, but I trying to pinpoint the laser dot on a window jamb behind an installed blind. Quite often a gap of 1/4" to 1/2 " which necessitates a painful neck twist. I was hopeful that I could easily see this pinpoint on the camera, but but it isn't very clear.
