Cardinal Gates Lock N Black Sliding Door Gate,White

The clips to attach this to the patio door are too small for both our and our daughter's patio doors. They will only attach to a door up to 1 and a 1/2 inch thick. I called Cardinal Gates to see if they had larger clips, but they don't. FYI - They don't carry this door anymore, nor do they make any patio door gate. Too bad, I was excited to see this gate as it seems its the only one on the market that was made to fit a patio door.

Just open the sliding glass door, place gate in and tighten door against the gate. A plate with screw is included to place on the track behind the door to keep the gate in place. Since I need to remove the gate at night I use a small block of wood which wedges in out of reach of my 18 month old. This gate is sturdy, easy for an adult to open; but, impossible for a little one.

This is an excellent gate that fits into the track of a sliding glass door. It is easy to assemble without tools and clips into place easily. I had this up and running in 5 minutes from delivery! The best thing about it is that it has an operating open-and-close gate so that the door can be used while the gate is installed. My dogs love to sit next to the door and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors. The house gets circulation of cool breezes and fresh air. And it has a neat and attractive appearance.The only issue is that the clips don't always screw in exactly right, so that when it is screwed in all the way, the clip is perpendicular to the door. I had to leave mine loose in order to install it correctly, so I have the feeling that clip is loose and in danger of falling out. When installed in the door, it doesn't matter because it is secure when in use. However, in order to close the door, you have to completely remove the gate and then the loose clip is left rattling wildly. I also wish it were available in other colors than white.So, I really LIKE this gate and it is the only one like it on the market. I do not LOVE this gate and think there needs to be a version 2 that has more secure clips, comes in other colors and can install permanently while allowing the sliding door to close all the way while in use.

Does what its supposed to. Sturdy construction. Not too easy for a child to open which is what I was looking for. NEGATIVES - The gate has to be removed in order to close the sliding door. The clamps which attach to the sliding door have scratched the paint off my sliding doors - some simple rubber guards incorporated into the design of the clamp could have prevented this. Also, I live outside the US and it didnt really fit snugly onto my sliding door so sizing outside of the US may be an issue.

My door is about 1 3/4" and it doesn't fit... won't be hard to have extra parts available, the sliding glass door stop doesn't fit either. Directions talk about part D, there is no part D. Look like I was sent one that was already returned, the company Cardinal Gates won't pay for return shipping. Way over priced, there has to be another option.

I have sliding doors to my apartment balcony. Our balcony is grilled and not solid. My toddler does what toddlers love to do - throw things out of our 7th floor balcony down to the street. I immediately searched all over the internet for a gate for sliding door and this is the only one i found suitable for our doors.This gate has been a lifesaver. I have used it over 2 years now and not a single complaint. It does its job very well. I have had kids come to our house and rattle and shake the gate so much, I feared it would break. Well I am much pleased to say that it is still doing its job very well. Not a scratch or break in sight.

I have sliding glass doors between my bedroom and my office (it's Florida, they are everywhere). I needed a way to keep the dogs out of my office so they would not eat the cats food and get into the litter box. I tried the wooden gates but I needed to step over them and kept tripping and falling. The walk-thru gates for doorways were not the right dimensions. This is perfect and no more falling. It is well made and very easy to install. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I wish it were available in a shorter height. My cat is old and jumping over it may become difficult for her soon.

This gate did not work for our double sliding glass door. I don't understand how others got the gate to stay in place. It would easily pop out with a slight amount of pressure.
