Fresh and smooth, exceeding expectations!
First, lemme paint a picture: my wife races around the house, snarfing down a quick K-cup or two before battling with the morning traffic that our region is notorious for. She needs strong, kick-your-butt coffee with afternotes of bitter frustration and skin-twisting angst. This coffee is not for her. (edit: She loves it, and has asked me to start making it for her as well!)At the tail end of her cyclone of rushiness, I stumble down the stairs, 20 minutes before my work starttime, because I work from home in the basement. I have to wash my face a little, to get the sleep out of my eyes, let the dog out real quick, then the two of us fumble around the kitchen with his breakfast and my slowpoke sustenance. It starts at the burr grinder, which has been finely tuned over many weeks of experimentation. I put on the water to boil, then I use my special little scoopy thing with the built-in funnel on top to transfer from the collector on the grinder to an inverted Aeropress, doubling the recommended dose. Like a kid with his nose pressed to the store window at Christmas, I wait for the water to boil while I resist the temptation to think about my day ahead. When almost boiling, I pour the water into the press and start the timer on the stove - I cannot help but think of Europe's "Final Countdown" while I wait for all that dark, velvety goodness to leach into the hot water. I then flip the Aeropress onto my cup, lean on it for a while with my least-hurty elbow and shoulder doing the work, and complete the work that reliably leads to the best few minutes of my day (on the weekdays, anyway.)My coffee needs are simple: I need a drink that's so dark that it can represent both bright joy and sullen misery, depending on the events of my life. I need it thick, so you are forced to take your time when consuming it. I need it NOT BITTER - those subtle afternotes that coffee connoisseurs rave about on expensive coffees are not for me.This is that coffee. It is chocolate cake and a plush blanket. It's a giant bag of excellent coffee, shipped fresh-as-heck (I was shocked at how fresh it was). Despite the oily appearance, it grinds silky-smooth, and the taste is meaty, well-developed, and capable of full body with low acidity and juuuuuuust enough bitter to still call it coffee. When my local big-box store stopped roasted their 2.5 bags in-house, I bought 10 bags of the last batch and hoarded them like it was the end of the world. I have found my replacement - it is now safe to repopulate the earth with hope and awakening. Thank you, Olde Brooklyn, for delivering me from my despair. This is a damn fine coffee for dark roast lovers, and you will be rewarded with regular orders from me. Don't ever change.

Dellicious!
This is the French Roast my husband and I have been hoping and trying to find. The beans are fully roasted to a dark, rich, glossy brown and the flavor is superb. The ones we've been buying apparently aren't roasted correctly because their flavors have been hit and miss. This company knows what it's doing and we'll be back for more soon. Thank you, Olde Brooklyn Coffee -- we raise our coffee cups to you all.

Good coffee, esp for the price!
We usually drink Starbucks French Roast but decided to try this to save some $. We were happy to discover that it's really good. It tastes very similar to Starbucks. Recommended.

Rich, oily beans deliver outstanding flavor!
This is my first time trying Olde Brooklyn French Roast whole bean coffee. I had always been a Starbucks French Roast coffee drinker, but my local warehouse club ran out, so I decided to give this a try. I'm glad I did. It comes in whole bean format, so you have to grind it yourself. I have a Krups grinder, so that was not a problem. Plus, by grinding it yourself, you can grind the beans as much or as little as you want. The Olde Brooklyn French Roast whole bean coffee comes in a 5 lb. bag, so what did was grind up one week's worth and then put the remaining 4 lbs. or so into labeled Ziploc bags and put them in my freezer. This will keep them fresh until use. As for the flavor, this coffee is rich, aromatic, and strong. I drink my coffee black, and this was just what the doctor ordered when I had my first cup this morning. It is excellent coffee at a great price. So that makes it a win-win in my book. Two coffee cups way up!

Excellent French Roast coffee!
This French Roast Whole Bean Coffee has a deep, rich flavor with a long, smooth finish.I have brewed it in a "pour-over" filter, in a vintage Silex vacuum brewer and in a single-serve pressure brewer using a permanent reusable pod.All three brewers produced an excellent cup of dark, robust, full bodied coffee with hints of cocoa and roasted chestnuts. All in all, an extremely satisfying coffee. I was given a sample by a friend a few months ago and was so impressed I decided to order some when my supply of coffee beans got low.

Nasty coffee
This coffee is terrible. I have been looking bulk coffee and thought this was price too good to be true. Well I was right, because this stuff is disappointing. From initially opening the new bag to drinking my first cup, it has been an upsetting experience of sensations. The coffee beans are almost black and when ground up could easily pass for some pre-ground, store brand, stale, sad coffee. Unfortunately no returns allowed so, that’s just great. If you like flat, acidic, burnt, brown water, this might be the product for you. If not, avoid.

An Absolute Winner!
Coffee in bulk online? With a more than healthy dose of skepticism and having been to this particular rodeo of buying coffee in bulk online more than once with middling results, I tried this brand. Five pounds? At worst I can always mix it with something else and accept my fate. What a truly pleasant surprise. This brand is simply spectacular. I’ve ordered more than once now and it isn’t a fluke. The quality is superb. Rich, bold, flavorful, virtually no discernible acidity. I grind the whole beans each morning for a French press, though have also used for drip coffee with great results. I typically drink my coffee black so am getting an unadulterated sense of its taste. This coffee is an absolute winner. And it is not only a terrific cup, but an extremely economical one. I was a barista long ago in college and have been drinking coffee for almost as long as I could walk. While one can always find unique and stunning speciality beans and roasts out there at a premium, this brand is such a pleasure to drink daily and truly checks all the boxes. I was initially concerned about buying in such a large quantity, but freshness hasn’t been an issue. I can’t recommend this coffee enough and am not easy to please when it comes to my daily java.
