Works great!
This camera is like gaining a new sense. You can see all sorts of things you couldn't see before, it's amazing! You can see the footprints in the carpet from the heat, minutes later. You can see thermal leaks in your house insulation. You can see where water is evaporating because it's cooler, so you can instantly find wet spots. You can see which circuit breakers are running hot and thus are closest to tripping. You can see how much heat creep there is on your 3d printer hotend. You can cook chicken and see the temperature as it cooks. The list goes on!It's a remarkable machine. The only minor downside is that occasionally the camera will have to re-focus the autofocus (which can't be turned off) and when that happens the display freezes up for about half a second. Very occasionally this will occur in a loop where the display is freezing every 3 seconds for half a second over and over, kind of stuttering, and it's annoying. But that usually only happens if the object is too close to the camera and it can't find a focus on it. But 95% of the time this is not a problem, so not a big deal.Another thing I love is all the color palettes which help visualize the temperature more easily in different contexts. If you're looking for hot spots in a cold area then one palette is best to maximize contrast, but if you're looking for minor variations then another display color palette with more colors can work better. The charge time is good, I'm able to get probably 5 hours of total use out of it before it needs charging again. Charges quickly with normal USB cable connectors.Another other downside is it cannot see through glass or anything transparent. This is more a limitation of physics than the camera itself but it still caught me off-guard. It sees windows as mirrors. So you can't point it through windows or anything, you will just see yourself in the reflection and nothing else. Some shiny metals also act as mirrors as far as the camera is concerned so you cannot see the temperature of those things directly, but only what is reflected in them. Again, a minor issue, not a deal killer, but it was something that surprised me.Overall a great machine that still feels futuristic even though I've had it a couple months now! Very impressed.

Excellent Value for the Price, despite misleading information in the listing
So, first, let me cover the misleading information. That's the only reason i gave it 4 stars overall instead of 5. The misleading information is not a deal breaker, but i always dislike it when it happens, especially when it seems like it was done intentionally. The listing indicates "New Higher Resolution 320 x 240 IR Infrared Thermal Imaging [...] with 300,000 Pixels and Sharp 3.2" Color Display Screen"This would lead one to believe that the thermal resolution is 300,000 pixels, when it's actually 76,800 (which is still exceptional thermal quality for the price, in my opinion). This misleading effect is compounded by the use of 'with' and 'and' between referencing the pixels and the display. I believe it is the LCD that is 300,000 pixels, if anything is.The second misleading item is in one of the official answers, indicating that this device cannot take video. I don't know if that was the case in the past, but i can certainly tell you that the HT-19 that i received does indeed take video capture. This is an excellent device. It's simple to use, though i will say that it wasn't obvious immediately how to save captured images and videos. You can capture an image with a trigger press/click, but then an on-screen dialog pops up on the screen asking if you wish to save the image. The intuitive action would be to use the arrows and 'select' buttons. But the actual answer is a second click of the trigger to save, and a press of 'select' to not save. The thermal image quality/focus is excellent at ranges i've used it in (1-30 ft). The ability to overlay the visual with the thermal data is very useful. This immediately allowed me to determine where the insulation was missing or low in the walls and ceilings of my house, and that alone will pay for the device both with the savings i'll receive after fixing the insulation, as well as the money saved on paying to have someone come out to perform a similar inspection.I plan on using this as a home-owner to regularly inspect my house to monitor insulation/energy efficiency, the health of electrical systems/breakers, early detection of leaks in the walls/ceilings, and status of HVAC and other house systems.

Excellent thermal camera
This camera performs very well. As others have reported, it can show the heat of a footprint on a carpet or wood floor for minutes. The periodic freezing of the video that people have commented on is caused by an internal mechanical shutter (automatically nulling the imaging array...you can hear it opening and closing if you put the device up to your ear). The unit auto-ranges for the temperatures in the given field of view as well, so it grants a remarkable contrast for a variety of uses, both low and high temperature.Overall, very much worth the price. It's also nice that the manufacturer used a standard off-the-shelf battery (18650 Li-Ion cell) , and shows how to replace it.Very good design.

Great value - skip the FLIR
I tried out this model and a lower-end FLIR. I ended up sending the FLIR back. This unit does everything that I wanted - and didn't make me get a second job to pay for it.Resolution is very good - and there is little distortion on the image versus the thermograph. Can do image capture, and download later on the computer. This unit is not wifi or bluetooth compatable, which is fine with me (who needs spyware). So far I've used it to check for air leaks around windows, identified the amount of water under carpet, calibrated a frying pan, find studs in exterior walls.-Bobby

Charging BMS went out after a month
BMS went out after a month, battery works fine yet it will not charge using the micro usb port, however I can still power the device using an external battery plugged into the micro usb port, the camera worked fine until these issues came up, luckily I’ll be able to possibly take the camera apart and fix it myself since I am a smart person mate
