The NutriChef iron skillet comes pre-seasoned properly, leaving the initial work out and you are ready to cook your first meal out of the box. Easy to clean and it comes with a lid for a great value. The Good 1) High quality iron skillet - This thing is heavy! 2) Comes with a lid, also of high quality with a grip that is made out of silicone 3) Easy to clean - Initially, I used a natural cellulose sponge to clean it thinking it would fall apart after cleaning the iron skillet, but it was still intact. Be sure to apply some avocado oil or another good oil after cleaning. 4) Cooked my first meal for my family - bone-in chicken (3 large pieces) and it came out great. Heat spread was balanced and it gets hot, fast. 5) It warms up quickly. After a few minutes on the stovetop, the iron skillet became hot quickly. Quicker than advised. So please be careful. Tested it with butter to see how fast it would burn and it truly works. The Bad 1) The silicone handle is not enough to protect user from extreme heat. You will need oven mitts. Unless you are the Human Torch, it is a must. Overall, I am very satisfied with the value of the NutriChef Iron Skill with Lid. For $50, it comes with a lid! Great for cooking some foods on the stovetop in slow-cook fashion. It also comes with a small booklet to learn how to take care of your iron skillet properly. Although I find the instructions to be confusing for a beginner. The instructions and information could have been ordered properly with steps instead of just clusters of information that can seem overwhelming for a novice. Although this isn't a a big deal, I thought it would be worth mentioning. If you are lost, search a YouTube video.

very very nice pan, good quality, not so heavy you dont want to lift it but heavy enough and high walls enough to not splash out. The lid is super nice, good quality with stream hole and fits very snuggly. The handle orange heat cover is extra nice added feature. I bought 3 one 12 inch and 2 smaller for family gift first then reordered the 12 for myself. My steaks have been fabulous to cook in, just right in depth not to splash without the lid with all the butter etc. The lid really sold me again to get it...it's so rare to find a cast iron the has a good fitting lid let alone a nice glass one. The lids metal rim is very very nicely snug to the lid, not cheap, great quality and the lid is very easy to clean. Great quality, you won't be disappointed if you want a good cast iron pan...comes with care instructions too. btw I"m not even a big cook but this pan has got me cooking all sorts of things now since so easy to cook too AND keep the cooking area clean and easy clean up. thank you! My family didn't want the lids to 2 other pans i gave them so i use them on my other pans...perfect fit too!

Although the pan is said to be treated with oil before arrival,"seasoned", the instructions specifically recommend seasoning more than once before using it to cook on your stove. Not a major problem, buuuut, its going to make the kitchen quite warm this summer @ 450*F to season the pan for an hour. The bottom of the pan appears to be completely level and smooth which will make for great efficiency on our glass-top stove. I am hoping it does not warp when heated. Time will tell. Anyway, if all goes well a 12" frying pan, with lid,forever chemical safe, for under $50.00 is a great deal.

Was a gift, the receiver used it for the first time tonight. Steak and peppers was a great first meal. Outstanding product!

Haven't used one of these in oer 50 years. But I have used it twice in the lasts 2 weeks.

I had a cast iron skillet the same size from my father, used it many years. But no matter how many times I seasoned it it just got to where everything stuck regardless.. I bought this one and it came pre seasoned. I've used it probably 20 times now and not a single issue with sticking. I love that it has a lid that I can take off without it getting hot and the handle holder is also a great bonus. I am able to move the skillet and carry it with hot food in it and not feel any heat through the handle. Love it!

I think this is a very good skillet. I purchased the 12" pre-seasoned model. It comes with a glass cover/lid and silicone protective handle. It is oven proof to 500 degrees. I prepared a spicy chili dish with biscuits. The skillet heats evenly and holds the heat for quite a while. I understand that some who purchase this particular product complain of rust once it is washed. I simply washed it in warm soapy water before the first time cooking ground beef for the chili. Once the meat had finished cooking, I allowed the skillet to cool down before washing it. Nothing to complain about as far as cooking nice and evenly. Clean up was a breeze. So far, so good. Will continue to use it and keep you updated. P.S. The photo attached is after my first cooking and washing.

I recently started to cook for myself, and have struggled cooking in castirons, but have found a TON of success with this one. I think it's mainly because of the instructions that come with it, which broke down for me exactly how to use the pan, how to season it, what not to do, etc. to the point I actually feel like I know what I'm doing. The heat resistant handles are also a huge plus - they've saved me from a lot of the burns that come with being new to cooking. I chose the 12 inch because I wanted a little more space for larger dishes and it still conducts heat great - I'd say this is a great pan for beginners like myself who want safety and guidance when they cook.

4.5/5 stars. Several weeks of use now. As described and easy to keep clean and seasoned. No signs of rusting. Silicone handle could be better quality- hence why 4.5 stars

Great to cast iron pan. the rubber grip is loose though and I wish the handle was a little longer. But the pan works great. I seasoned it twice and cooked some chicken stuffed with cheese. Did not stick at all. Remember cast iron is a bit heavy and requires care.›
