Why did you pick this product vs others?:Excellent shear. Perfect for sheet metal. I was able to cut 1/8" with it no problem. But you need to make sure you have it mounted well. The description says it will cut 3/16". I believe it would but didn't have any to test. Great shop tool to have.

Heavy. That's good. I have been cutting up old Disson handsaw blades that are somewhat hardened. This cutter cuts them cleanly without much distortion. In the past I've used everything from an angle grinder, to a band saw, to heavy-duty snips and I've hated the cuts from all of these tools. This thing cuts really well and with minimal effort. And... the best thing... it's quiet. You don't have to plug it in. You don't need hearing protection or even a dust mask.In my experience it doesn't cut really thin flashing material all that, but I could probably adjust the cutter heads to be a bit tighter. The thin stuff has a tendency to bend and get wedged between the block and the cutter head.Overall, I love this thing. It was a great purchase and it was crazy-inexpensive... with shipping!

4th one I have bought and they all work great .First one I bought 3 years ago and it still works great it is used for cutting license plates at a dealer probably cut 200 per month each plate cut 3 times and it has held its ede great

I am jeweler and needed a sheer to cut silver sheet, copper sheet, and cut off sprues from lost wax casting. I wanted to see if I could get a cheap shear to do this, and if not I would then get a more expensive one.I am definitely keeping this, it does great. It does take some effort on thicker sheet or sprues, bit it does what the description said it would and at a great price.It has some globby malformed edges, but I don’t care about that. I am disappointed the bolts to tighten the handle were missing, but buying those missing parts was easy enough. I recommend this product for a small jewelry shop if you want to save $$.

I'm not a huge fan of the least expensive tool option, but I needed to cut a number of 20ga sheet metal panels for rust repair on a 1970's vintage VW, and dreaded using a cutoff wheel for it all. This arrived well packaged and cleaned up with some WD40. Bolted to my work bench, this cuts 20ga sheet metal better than I expected. Nice clean cuts with not much effort at all. Totally pleased!

I've owned this for two months now and it still smells like really strong mold. I had to put it in a trash bag. I've wiped it down, then I cleaned it with alcohol. Some of the blue paint came off from just using rubbing alcohol which is also not great. The mold thing is really strange. It's like it's baked into the paint, which it can't be. I have no idea what's going on but I can't use it. Feels like a colossal waste of money, but only because of the mold issue. The unit itself feels like a great value for the price. I just wish I could use it without making my shop smell funky.

I have been looking for a way to cut license plates. Tried many options and none of them made an acceptable finished product. Is very heavy and the box that was left on my porch was broken. The tool was in good condition. So far the blade has held up well.

I have used this moderately for a while now and am pleased with the results. It has actually cut material to the claimed thickness but I would limit it to lighter stuff. It is great for shearing tough material like polycarb sheet and works well to make clean cuts. It does need a good mount to cut heavy material but that is not the shear's fault.
