Best Vacuum I’ve Ever Owned
I am absolutely in love with this Oreck Vacuum!! I have owned many vacuums and this one outperforms them all! You turn the thing on and it moves by itself dragging me along with it! A dream to operate! Very light weight and extremely powerful suction. I like that it has 2 settings..low for hardwood and high for carpet. The HEPA filter is HUGE due to my allergies to dust and pollen. I vacuumed my whole house yesterday ( 2,500 sq ft ) and never broke a sweat. It just glides around. Some reviewers have complained that it is louder than they would have liked. So What?!?! This thing is powerful and my floors have never felt better in bare feet. I would give this 10 STARS if I could!

Very surprised and disappointed.
I bought this vacuum in August of 2022. My last Oreck was purchased in 2002 and it lasted till 2013. I was expecting this one to do the same or at least last 6 or 7 years. First, was the smell, I noticed it gave off a stinky foot smell every time I vacuumed. Last year, 2024, the entire top handle broke off. I was able to fix it with duck tape. Then a few weeks ago, the little lever that holds the cord I place broke off. Now, it doesn’t pick up dirt anymore. It spits out the dirt it picks up. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. It didn’t have to last as long as the old Oreck but this is unacceptable for a $400 machine. I will not be purchasing another Oreck. Now I have to buy another vacuum in less than 4 years. I feel like they wronged me.

Great suction, light is helpful but lousy plastic fittings, showed up with broken handle
The vacuum works beautifully - suction is great, self propel makes it glide quickly, light ensures you find all the dust that needs attention, cord length is good, noise level is medium. The issue is that it arrived with the carry handle broken which is an issue for going upstairs as well as wrapping the cord when it is not in use. The plastic is way cheaper than prior Oreck vacuums we have owned for decades. The manufacturer is trying to save cost and is using cheap plastic which makes this vaccum no longer the same quality it has been for generations. I had to return it and still deciding if I will replace it or not. Disappointing that the new owners have dropped the quality standards for a high priced unit.

Satisfied
I bought my first Oreck almost a decade ago, and have recently noticed it was not doing quite as good of job with my floors. I decided to stay with Oreck, and chose this vacuum based on the reviews. I will not comment on its longevity as I have just received and used it today, but I am able to note other characteristics. The light on the Oreck is wonderful for vacuuming corners, really shows what needs to be done. I found this Oreck to be lightweight, MUCH quieter than my old Oreck, and (most importantly) it thoroughly cleans my carpet. It doesn’t POOF out dust when it’s bumped, and the “carpet” and “wood floor” settings are great. Honestly, I realized that I probably should have replaced my old vacuum a looooong time ago. My floors are clean and and I am satisfied. Definitely worth investigating if you’re looking for a vacuum.

Great vacuum
Picks up well and made in the USA! It was the most economical one I could find that was made here. I’m going to search around and see if I can find bags that will work with it that are also made in the USA. The vacuum is just for the floors. There aren’t any attachments for other purposes. I’m ok with that, as I’ve got a smaller vacuum for those jobs. This vacuum is super lightweight and has a long cord. I can clean the house so easily and quickly with it. My grandma owns an Oreck as well and has had it for decades! They are well made!!

Exceeds Expectations, Blows Away other Brands We Tried
My wife and I wanted a nice vacuum that would last for well over a decade . Having gone from a $20 vacuum we invested in a $200 shark. We were disappointed. Top heavy, held a cup worth of debri, ect. This Oreck is light but doesn't feel cheap. It feels well made. It self propells without resisting you. On low it is quiet and picks up debri before you even go over the area by several inches. I could go on, as it is literally the best vacuum we've ever used. My family gave us their 30 year old oreck and it still works great. Noteworthy Features: self propells, great suction, simple, very well made, led lights, power selection. Best feature: it is unlike most modern, overly complicated vacuums that are all hard plastic material. It knows it's just supposed to be a vacuum cleaner :) .

Breaks at the Handle!!!
I could not have described this problem better! Danny Boy wrote : {Oreck used to be a good brand before China bought it. But after only two and a half years of half-way decent vacuuming, this morning while vacuuming the plastic handle at the top of my Oreck upright broke right off at the top of the metal neck of the unit. I was stunned. Never expected such a thing with an upright. Clean off! And of course when I called Oreck they said the warranty for this model doesn't cover this at all. So one star only for this cheaply built Oreck that will only last two years.} Ours lasted 2 1/2 years with same stupid break at the handle to metal interface. The integral handle broke clean off!!! I would share a photo, but do simply search for Danny Boy's post to see the exact breakdown of the handle - he posted exactly the photos that I would have posted. An Incredibly dumb design. Given time, this will happen to all these particular model vacuum cleaners from Oreck. And at the time of purchase, Amazon stated this as supposedly 'assembled' in the USA, but the plastic handle-to-metal design sucks more than the Oreck vacuum cleaner. That's north of 300USD down the drain, sucked up, up and away. :-( Raspberries.
