Yes, it is heavier than a decorative pendant but it needs to be. If the glass were lighter plastic, it would be worthless to use. The chain is solid; I had another one with a lighter chain that broke -- because if you use this, you are tugging on it a lot. It's attractive, quick to open. Recommend.

Like many people I have a lot of difficulty reading small print. I decided to purchase a magnifying glass. I wanted one that I had to keep in my pocket and possibly lose it. This one is perfect. I love the long chain and the metal covering the glass looks antique. No one would be able to tell that it's a magnifying glass. It just look like a very pretty necklace. It's easy to use is sturdy and well made. It's a great value.

I love this magnifier! It's beautiful and I have get questions and compliments on it every day. I got this as an alternative to reading glasses because I had eye surgery in March and knew I'd not have new prescription glasses for a few months. I work in retail so I'm reading small print all day long. I've given this piece an extreme workout ;) meaning that I've worn it every day since I've gotten it, and use it multiple times an hour during work. Even with such heavy use, it took over a month for the chain to get funky looking, at which point I hung it on a ribbon to wear (most of my non-gold jewelry gets funky within a week. I'm just rough on metals I guess!) The staff at the eye center was also impressed with this magnifier, and after seeing mine they have since suggested it to patients who don't want readers. This purchase is worth every penny! And in case anyone was wondering, it comes in a little box with cotton, and the tag says it is nickel, lead, and cadmium compliant.

I love this handy and necessary piece of jewelry. The chain is adjustable to suit fashion and viewing needs. When worn as pictured, it is ornate and fancy, I can turn this piece around to a bright silver finish through the magnifying glass and the tree of life is highlighted and pronounce. This gives me to fashionable looks in one piece of jewelry. The magnifying glass works perfect for reading the tiniest (ingredients and medicine labels) and adjusts with distance to view a larger area such as menus. I no longer have to wear my reading glasses on the end of my nose or dig in my purse for them. This is perfect and I did not find the weight of the piece to be bothersome like some other reviews, though it is a heavy peice because of the quality of magnifying glass (not plastic).

Pretty but just too big. this is a very pretty piece, the problem is that the charm itself is quite large. I love the tree of life symbol and thought this would be great for when I need help reading labels at a store, etc. But it’s so big and it hangs at an awkward length on my neck. Unfortunately you cannot remove the charm from the necklace. So not only is the charm rather large but then you can’t use it on a different chain. I think if the manufacturer changed that part of it it would be a help. The design itself is very pretty but for me it was awkward and bounced around too much to really use. I did return. Great idea just not the best execution.

It's as attractive as pictured. I took away one star because with the glass it is a little heavy. It has a long enough chain and it works has an eye glass.

the pendant is beautiful, the magnifying glass is not very magnifying
