My favorite coffee
I grew up in Dubuque, Iowa. When I saw that Verena Street Coffee was a Dubuque company, I had to try it. Julien's Breakfast Blend, Nine Mile Sunset, and Lock and Dam #11 are all wonderful. I am not a coffee expert - don't know anything about the terminology to describe the flavor of a coffee. I do know that Branding Iron has become my absolute favorite! it's dark but not bitter. Rich and flavorful. My daughter, who lives in Maryland, feels the same and has introduced it to her coffee loving friends on the east coast!

I Ordered Several Bags for Visiting Family. I also tried it Myself. I'm Glad I Did!
First of this is a bold coffee with a bit of a hickory flavor. I generally like strong tasting coffee. The good news is that the flavor is well balanced. It does offer many subtle flavors that make it worth a try.I also like prepared as iced coffee with a little half & half creme. The good coffee flavor still came through. I like that!

Very Good Coffee!
Iowa Native Fair Trade Organic Ground, Swiss Water Process Decaf Coffee is very tasty! I don't get any notes of bitterness. The taste is nice & smooth. I had previously tried Verena Street's Sunday Drive Swiss Water Decaf ground & truth be told, I enjoy the flavor of the Sunday Drive Coffee better but that being said, I would still recommend the Iowa Native Fair Trade Swiss Water Decaf to anyone.

arrived opened.
I do really like their Sunday Drive so I thought I'd try this one, but it arrived opened. :( I returned it and I'm not sure if I'll reorder or not.

Good way to start the day
Well balanced, smooth blend. I make it weak, and it’s perfect for me.

Rich espresso flavor from Iowa
It seems that the reviews for several coffees from Iowa Native by Verena Street are intermingled on this product page. This review is for Iowa Native Organic 10 Ounce Espresso Beans, Bonfire Espresso Whole Bean Dark Roast. Upon opening the bag, my first experience of this espresso was its delicious smoky aroma and the dark, oily appearance of its relatively small beans. I ground them fine for an espresso machine, filling the kitchen with that deliciously rich coffee aroma that's unique to a good espresso. When brewed, the coffee had a thick, foamy crema, richly flavored and long-lasting in the cup. The coffee has a deep smoky flavor, is slightly but not unpleasantly bitter, and is quite smooth without noticeable acidity. It's easy on the stomach, without that unpleasant discomfort some espresso coffees can create in susceptible individuals (like me). Other tasting notes include dark chocolate, licorice, tobacco, almonds, and a slightly sweet quality best described as molasses. It has a delicious dark fruity finish that includes hints of cherries or plums. The caffeine content is fairly robust, making this an excellent breakfast or late-afternoon cobweb remover. This is an excellent espresso that ticks all the boxes for me. My only quibble is with the increasingly small sized portions being offered by coffee firms. From 16 oz. to 12 oz. and now 10 oz., as portions decrease, many coffee lovers are forced to resort to lesser quality brands in order to make do. It's amazing how quickly a 10 oz. bag of whole beans can vanish in a coffee-loving household. Nevertheless, this is an espresso worth seeking out and sampling because it is quite good.
