Stillman & BirnEpsilon Series Wirebound Sketchbook, 6" x 8", 150 gsm (Heavyweight), White Paper, Smooth Surface

This is my favorite and preferred sketchbook, and I've been buying them for about 3 years now. Ink and marker go down really well on the page and blend well. Definitely worth it if you want to spend the extra dollar compared to cheaper ones. I've been toting around a few for a couple of years, and there is little signs of wear besides obvious usage.You do run into your typical sketchbook problems: dry mediums transferring over to the next page, alcohol marker bleed, but nothing worse than any other sketchbook. The marker bleed, I found, isn't as bad as most sketchbooks unless I'm heavily blending something. If I stick a piece of paper in between pages, the page below is safe from ink. And without the extra layer, the affected page still usable with a little bit of ink bleeding through.Paper is silky smooth if you prefer less tooth like I do. Nice and white. DURABLE as heck! I had spilled water on one of them and most other sketchbooks I've owned, the pages would be ruined, but this one once dried, was hardly affected if affected at all and still at 100% to me.I wouldn't use the Epsilon series for heavy colored pencil usage since it is pretty smooth. Good for a quick coloring, but not for a full blown colored pencil piece. Stillman and Birn does have other series of sketchbooks to fit your mediums at the same quality. I've tried their Beta (thinner) and Zeta (thicker) series as well. Quality is still on par.Just a great sketchbook overall.

Superior smooth white finish substantial weight paper makes my work look terrific. Best quality I have found, and since i value my artworks, this Really matters to me! Love the product line!

Fountain pen ink is not suitable for every paper type. This Watercolor quality paper is ideally smooth enough for both drawing and writing. Stiff enough for watercolor makes this an ideal travel painting journal.

Very nice sketchbook. I purchased all three of the sketchbooks offered which were designed for various mediums and have different paper weights. I like the spiral bound so the pages will lie down flatter. The paper weight is not listed on the inside so you can write that inside the book cover or trim the label and tape it to the book cover.

Great paper quality; strong, smooth, thick and nice whiteness. I'd give it 4-stars because because you can't draw with markers on it due to bleeding but it clearly states its ideal for pen and ink so it's my fault. I'll stick to colored pencils. (I did the yellow and black in marker and realized my mistake.)

I am using this book for my zentangle/zendoodle art and I found the paper to be just right for that. It is very smooth so the pen really glides easily and the paper is just thick enough to feel special
