Review: Roaring Rails DCC - My first DCC train. For the price, this is a good N scale starter set. So far, works well. DCC and sound are pretty amazing in such a small locomotive. Would recommend this as a first N scale train, but if you really get into these trains, they can become very expensive. This scale is very small for young kids. I would prefer HO, but don't have the room. I had HO and N over thirty years ago. The quality has gone up, and so has the price.

**Q: is 24"x 34" oval measured frm outer rail?**
A: No as far as I have found out it is measured from the center of the two rails, hope this was helpful.

**Q: When idling, can you hear the diesel sound? And when moving you can hear the diesel speeding up? Not just the noise of just the electric motor?**

A: yes, you can run more than one engine, you can run them at the same time, or you can program each loco to run separate,

My first DCC train. For the price, this is a good N scale starter set. So far, works well. DCC and sound are pretty amazing in such a small locomotive. Would recommend this as a first N scale train, but if you really get into these trains, they can become very expensive. This scale is very small for young kids. I would prefer HO, but don't have the room. I had HO and N over thirty years ago. The quality has gone up, and so has the price.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ DC mode on DCC powerpack

This set was for my birthday to start a railroad project. The locomotive, rolling stock, track, and remote were very good except for one thing. I watched countless of videos that the number address 0 runs a DC locomotive. (Obviously not with a DCC locomotive.) I was running a DC locomotuve with the DC setting on. It went slower than usual at its fastest setting. I smelt something... The locomotive was at risk of permanently being warped. It smelt burnt. You just have to let it cool down, and use it again. But, I recommend using a standard DC powerpack instead. Bachmanns normal DC power pack is very smooth running though. Good set, But just get rid of the DC option.
