🐾 MUST READ if you’re debating what to buy for cutting your pet’s nails
⭐ My Experience: I bought this specifically to keep on hand for my dog’s nails, and after trying a styptic pen/pencil first, I’m SO glad I switched to the powder. The styptic pen I bought did not work for me at all when my dog’s nails started bleeding. I tried applying it directly to the nail multiple times, but it just wasn’t stopping the bleeding. With the Kwik Stop powder, I’ve had a completely different experience. It works SO much better for me, and I’m really glad I gave the powder a try. 🐾 How I Use It: I put a small amount of powder into the cap, then dip the bleeding nail directly into the powder. Usually, it stops the bleeding on the first or second dunk. I only use a tiny amount at a time, so there is very little waste. ⏱️ How Quickly It Works: This is probably my favorite thing about it. When a nail starts bleeding, I don’t want to spend several minutes trying different things while my pet is walking around. With this, I can usually dip the nail once or twice and have the bleeding stopped. 🏠 No More Blood Tracks: Having something that works quickly is a lifesaver when a pet’s nail gets trimmed too short. It helps prevent them from walking around leaving little blood tracks all over your floors and carpets while you’re trying to get the bleeding under control. 💗 Pain Relief: The packaging says this contains benzocaine to help relieve pain, which I really like as an added benefit. Obviously, the main reason I bought it was to stop the bleeding, but knowing it also provides pain relief if you accidentally cut a nail too short and it hurts them. My dog acts completely fine after I put it on it’s like nothing even happened. I know he can’t talk, but there’s no limping or anything. 📦 Amount & Value: When I first opened the container, I was a little surprised that it wasn’t filled to the top. However, after actually using it, I realized that a little bit of this powder goes a VERY long way. You only need a small amount in the cap for each use, and based on how little I’ve needed so far, I expect this container to last me several years. So even though I initially thought there should be more in the container, I really don’t think I’ll need to buy another one for a very long time. 🎒 Portability: The container is small and lightweight, so it’s easy to keep with my pet grooming supplies or take with me if needed. It doesn’t take up much space at all. 🐶 For Dogs, Cats & Birds: The packaging says this is made for dogs, cats, and birds, so it’s nice to have one product on hand if you have multiple types of pets. 💯 Would I Recommend It? Absolutely. If you trim your pet’s nails at home, I would 100% recommend keeping this on hand. Accidents happen, and having something that actually works when you accidentally cut a nail too short gives me so much more peace of mind. 🐾 Powder vs. Pen: If you’re deciding between a styptic pen/pencil and the powder, I would absolutely choose the powder. I wish I had purchased this first— but hopefully I can help you if you’re deciding which to buy! 👍 Helpful for Other Pet Owners: If you’re a pet owner and found this review helpful, I’d really appreciate you clicking “Helpful” so other pet owners can find it too!

In several of my emergency packs
I love this product! I guess that makes me bias since I'm reviewing it. But allow me to clarify: I love styptic powder, and I could care less about who makes it. This product is decently priced and the quantity will last a long time. I was a pre-vet major and so carrying this in my backpack turned out to be as handy as carrying a vial of advil with me everywhere I went. Yes, it's primary application was to promote clotting of small epidermal wounds in animals. But I actually learned of this product's value when I had to use it in an emergency back home during Christmas. One of my relatives broke a glass plate and was picking up the broken glass as carefully as he could. He managed to cut/puncture himself (of course) on the palm, right below his thumb. Aside from bleeding profusely, the cut was long and should have warranted a visit to the ER to get a couple stitches. As soon as we cleaned the puncture I thought of using this on the wound as a last resort. I do not recommend doing this, though. And on the product it says not to use on puncture/deep wounds. But...they obviously weren't going to go anywhere and so I thought "why not try?" The wound was prob .25" deep and 1 .25" across. We pulled back each side of the cut to expose as much of the wound possible, poured a bit of styptic powder into it, and then applied light pressure to the wound to compact the powder, and then proceeded to wrap the wound with clean gauze. Rather than stinging immediately like some people claim, my relative noticed first a numbing sensation for 15 mins, then pain in his hand for 1-1 1/2hrs and then nothing. The pain was not unbearable he commented, just consistent and annoying. Now this is a full grown man (150lbs) in his 50's. Don't know the pain threshold of younger adults or kids, so it might sting like hell itself to them. It's important to note that his puncture wound was smaller, but still should have required stitches. But this stuff did the trick. When I saw him next Christmas I literally could NOT tell which hand the puncture was on (I was worried about scarring) and where on the hand it occurred! Because styptic powder contracts tissue to seal the would, it can be harmful if applied close to arteries, veins, etc. that should not be artificially merged with other tissue. That is why its so dangerous to use on deep puncture wounds or large surface area wounds. I was actually more amazed with the results than what I thought it would look like. There was no scarring. Use with common sense, follow tried and true steps when handling situations and sometimes a little creativity can get the job done. And it is ALWAYS better to use less than more.

Product is great. Would have given 5 stars, but the first one I received was hard as a rock. The replacement is fine.

Saved a life. Multiple times.
Several times I was in a situation where my hens had very long toenails. We have tried to file them down, but no matter what it occasionally come down to clipping. Sometimes, i get the quick very far down, unintentionally, just because of the quick being so long. On the occasion I here I have cut deep Into it, this has been a life saver. Sometimes it's 2mins, sometimes it's 20 unt the bleed stops. The fact it stops as fast as it does is amazing, I would always recommend this bleed stop.

Need to always have on hand!!
This stuff is the best. Golden retriever nails were just cut and went too hard on our patio. This did the job, clotting the blood, until his nails grew out more.

#1 dog grooming nail MUST HAVE!!
This works great for nails and minor small clipper cuts on dogs. I've never had a dog have an issue with me applying it to a cut on the body or a reacting to using it despite other groomers saying its bad and painful to put on a tiny cut. However it does damage your clippers and scissors if you cut hair with the powder still in the hair or gets caught cutting it in the hair. Dulls the blades pretty fast.

Way better than the other ones I've tried
I bought this months ago and finally had to use it today, after my experience with the other products I was expecting it to be a stressful experience, I was so happy with how quickly this worked! I just put the powder on my finger and touched the nail and it stopped the bleeding immediately! 10/10 I will always have this on hand when doing my dogs nails from now on.
