After reading reviews on this Python water changer and the Aqueon one, I was rather torn between the two. Eventually, I went with the Python and haven't regretted my decision at all. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and have no issues doing water changes for our 55 gallon tank which would have been pretty much impossible for me if I'd had to haul buckets back and forth. If you want the short and sweet version, just buy this now. It's the best investment I have made other than the fish themselves. A few notes below... 1) I have a Delta kitchen faucet and there was no way to connect it to this, not even with adapters from home improvement stores, just due to how the aerator is supposed to seal on the faucet. Well, it could connect, but it leaked like crazy and was far less effective. Thankfully, I was able to use the brass adapter that came with the product on my bathroom faucet and that's the one I use for the water changes now. 2) I've noticed that the suction isn't the greatest, regardless of whether I leave the water running in the bathroom while vacuuming or not (you can turn the water off once the suction has been established). It's manageable but I find myself reaching for my normal siphon and a bucket to "pre-clean" if there are particularly dirty areas. This is probably due to there not being a great difference in height between the tank and bathroom sink. Again, works well enough most of the time, just not when I'm feeling really OCD about seeing debris sitting on top of my sand. 3) The hose itself is very pliable which is awesome and makes the process very easy. 50 feet is a bit of a pain to roll up again, though. I am tempted to get a hose reel but that may or may not work well since I have to go pretty slowly and raise the coil above the sink level to get it to drain excess water in the hose when I'm finished. Minor annoyance given how much time and effort this thing saves me otherwise. 4) Construction is solid. Yes, some pieces are plastic but they're pretty heavy duty. As long as you don't try to he-man the connection when you screw it on, you can get a tight fit with no leaks and no plastic cracking or breaking. Even if you do, there are replacement parts which is great and saves me from having to buy an entirely new one in the future. 5) I saw a few complaints about the refill process, but again, no issues for me. I temperature match the water, reverse the flow so it starts to fill the tank and let it run. You can continue temperature testing if your water supply can't hold a steady temperature, but that's not the fault of the device. As it fills, I occasionally add 1/4 tsp of Seachem Prime until I reach the total dose for my tank. If you have a saltwater tank, well... your mileage will probably vary. Overall, I'd say I can be done with a 50% water change in 15 or 20 minutes. Totally worth it and I'm sure my fish are happier with more regular and quicker water changes!

Obviously this is going to be five stars. Made changing water in my 5 tanks an ease. Especially not having to carry the bucket up stairs. Once you figure out how to connect it to your sink(you’re more than likely gonna need to remove the aerator from the tap part). I spilled no water, and the quality of the hose was amazing! The hose will tangle a little, but it’s a 50ft hose what do you expect? It literally took 30 minutes instead of 1 hour and 30 minutes to clean my fishes tank. One thing it does say is it doesn’t say how long the water pressure takes to take out all of the oxygen in the tube. Be ready you may have to wait a few minutes to start the siphon. Overall it is very safe, looks good, and the material is just a normal tube though, but it is still alright. My fish are going to appreciate all the extra water changer I do with this!

Can I just tell you how much this product changed my life? I've only been a fishkeeper for a year or so and definitely don't have huge tanks, but anyone who has fish takes will tell you how frustrating and time consuming it is to lug buckets of water around. I absolutely hated it, which led to some neglect on my end - and I am not proud of this at all. I am a very cheap person so I just sucked it up and lugged buckets around for the longest time until I decided to buy the Python. When I got it home unfortunately the adapter it comes with didn't fit my sink (I have a pull out sprayer and unscrewed the sprayer head, by the way). I went on a semi-wild goose chase to multiple hardware stores until I found the piece I needed to fit my sink. Once I finally found the piece I hooked it up only to find that it leaks slightly (because of the additional piece I needed, not because of the python). I really didn't care much about this as it's in my kitchen sink and doesn't spray upward. Anyways, once you find the right piece to fit your sink this thing is a miracle. It is legitimately so easy and fast to clean tanks. I have a 20 gallon long, two divided 10 gallon tanks, and a 10 gallon tank. It normally takes me about 2 hours to clean all of these because of the bucket lugging. With this amazing product, I was able to clean all three in less than an hour! This is seriously life changing. I would recommend this to any fishkeeper. It is more than worth the money. My only gripe is that finding the correct adapter for your sink is a real pain in the butt. Definitely ask someone who works at the hardware store or you'll end up sitting there forever like I did. I'm hoping I find something better that doesn't leak but the python still works amazing in the interim. TL; DR: Difficult to find adapter to fit my sink. Once I found the correct one it leaked slightly but the product still worked amazingly. It is a life changer. Would recommend.

I was using one of those gravel cleaners that relies on suction to clean the tank. It sort of worked but made a mess. I had to use a 5 gallon bucket to collect the water and, with a 55 gallon tank, that meant I needed 2 or three fills for a partial water change. I actually saw the Python being used at a pet store so I ordered one. I have the 50 foot model because I don't have a sink anywhere near the tank. A few notes: 1. The hard plastic part you put into the tank needs to be longer. I had half my arm in my tank. I'm going to try and put the much longer piece from my old cleaner on this one - might work. 2. It did a decent job picking up the debris from the tank. No complaints. 3. My old cleaner has a clip on it that will hold the hose in the tank. This cleaner doesn't have that and it's nice for when you're refilling the tank. Again, I'm going to salvage a piece from my old cleaner and use it on this one. 4. Installation wasn't as easy as I expected. The included instructions aren't very clear but I eventually figured it out. I like that I can either attach the valve to a sink using the included adapter or to a hose bib; my utility sink faucet has a hose bib fitting so it's very useful. It did live up to its name - not a drop of water anywhere. When I was finished filling the tank I just drained the hose into the sink. This is going to same me some time cleaning the tank, doing partial water changes and I don't need a mop.

This thing does make water changes a little easier and drier. Now instead of buckets I have long hoses (I have the 50') snaking through my house since I have to use the outdoor faucet due to not having any indoor sinks with threads. I bought this since we now have a 75 gallon aquarium, and there's no way I'm using buckets for that amount of water. My major complaint is suction. It barely gets the small waste, and has trouble with the larger. I'm wondering if an intake tube with a smaller diameter would help? I'm not a expert in water dynamics so don't know. All I know is my $30 cleaner that I have to start by manually pumping has a lot more suction. Anyway, the bottom line is I'm overall happy with it, but if they could figure out the suction issue it would be almost perfect. Edit: I'm adding another star (from 4 to 5) because I just changed 15% of the water in a 75 gallon tank in about 15 minutes total. I removed the hose splitter and hooked the python to the faucet directly which improved the suction. The suction is still not as good as I'd like it to be, but for the time it saves I can deal with it.

This is one of those products that's annoyingly expensive for how simple it is. And yet, they can charge what they do because it works—and it will make your life a lot easier. I'm on a well with less-than-ideal water pressure. I tried a cheaper knockoff version of the Python, and it was completely unusable. The genuine Python venturi pump, on the other hand, works just fine even with my lower pressure, and when I’ve used these systems on city water in the past, they’ve performed exceptionally well. The only real downside—and it's a known issue—is that if you shut off the water while in "fill" mode, the faucet attachment will spray water everywhere. The manufacturer even advises against doing this. It seems like this is a necessary trade-off to allow the venturi pump to pivot on the faucet, which helps prevent it from snapping off if you tug the hose. Still, it’s something to be aware of. These have been around forever. They were expensive years ago, and they’re still expensive—but they're absolutely worth it. If you don’t have one, you need one. It’s the key to keeping your sanity during water changes, and nothing else I’ve tried comes close. Highly recommended. And if you're not aware, they have recently introduced a "hook" that you can use to make filling easier. It's also expensive, and it's also necessary if you have a large tank. Make sure you buy both.

First of all, I have to say that this came with the perfect sink adapter to fit my sink. Second of all, This has made water changes significantly easier! It does waste a little water, as it powers the suction by using the running sink water up, and the more the faucet is turned, the more suction power. But the water wasted isn't much compared to the physical labor spent! I used to fill 5 gallon buckets of turtle water and dump them in the shower because I couldn't make it outside, and then I would take a hose and stick it through my bedroom window into the house to fill it up (risking animals getting outside and bugs coming in) Now I can drain and fill my turtle tank without needing a second person to help me watch the animals and make sure none are getting out. The python also fills the tank much quicker than the hose did surprisingly. It did take me some time to figure out how to use it, as I'm bad at reading instructions (so I kinda just figured it out on my own) but with the help of someone spotting the tank to holler at me if it was working or not, I figured it out in less than 5 minutes. I have bad hips and my friend has bad arms, so carrying 5 gallons of water halfway across the house was way too much stress on our joints. The python has made this so much easier, and I wish I would've made this purchase sooner. $80 seems like a lot at first, but it definitely is worth it in the long run. It saves a ton of stress and time. So far it also is holding up quite well. I will update this review if the hose ever breaks or anything like that. I know I have a cat who loves biting into rubber, so I hope there are replacement parts out there. And now I do the weekly/bi-weekly water changes as I'm supposed to do to keep my turtles happy and healthy! With the bucket method it was too much stress on the body to do bi-weekly water changes..

Amazing product! I was hesitant to buy due to the cost and before I saw everyone's incredible feedback, but I am beyond glad I ended up making this purchase! It took me 10-20 minutes to fill a 255L tank which usually takes me about 3 hours and a huge mess with buckets. I had no spills at all! It came with clear instructions and all the parts needed etc (for an internal and externally threaded tap). I thought it might not work on my tap but I screwed off the tip and the threading underneath worked perfectly! I 110% recommend the python siphon, get one for sure if you can!!! It's a must have! Dont forget to measure from your tap to your tank either before choosing which size to buy!

Universal adapter… questionable. The whole thing except the air pump can be built for eur20 from any hardware store. I did not manage to create enough suction from my gravity fed system to empty an aquarium. The taps connected to the main can’t be attached to the “universal” adapter. So far I am planning on returning it. Will probably go to the hardware store and see if I can find another adapter but…

Keep an eye on the price if you are considering buying this, as it had dropped before my order had even arrived with me.. However it is amazing.. I just had my fastest, cleanest, easiest water change ever. Took me a bit to work out its connections and how to use it first, but I have taken some pictures to help others with how it attached to my UK kitchen sink. I removed the screw off aerator on the end of my tap, then needed to remove the thicker of the 2 rubber internal seals on the universal adapter, this left it a perfect tight fit on my tap with no leaks. I did find that I needed my water to flow pretty fast to create the initial vacuum but once establish I had around 25% water removed in a very short period of time. Not sure yet how to test my water temp with out it flowing back in once the attachment to turned on fill selection but thankfully I've filled buckets enough times now to have a good guess at where my levers are normally positioned. Just needed to add my Prime direct to the tank. After ordering I did find cheaper alternatives and was a bit annoyed but honestly I do not regret having ordered this one as it truly is of very good quality and will last a long time. I hope this review with my pictures to show the attachment to my tap will help someone.
