NET, Abide Bible, Cloth over Board, Blue, Comfort Print: Holy Bible

I am fairly new to the New English Translation (NET) but I have come to appreciate it already and have been looking for a good study Bible based on it. The full notes edition is a good resource but does not lend itself to "normal" study. In researching options, I found the Abide Bible, and I decided to get a copy for myself. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite Bibles, although it is not exactly a study Bible.The Abide Bible is a very different animal. It falls somewhere in the category of devotional Bible, but it's not even that. Instead, it is more of a Bible designed to spark spiritual growth through more thought provoking activity not dissimilar from small group study. It has a number of extras that are designed to engage the reader: journaling prompts, questions and comments for reflection, full color artwork for engaging the reader, and more. There is one or more of these helps on almost every page and addressing most chapters of each book.The benefit of this type of approach to Bible reading and contemplation is that the extra helps are habit forming and can lead the reader into a deeper and more meaningful time of reading and study. I've found myself reading a little more carefully and spending more time thinking about the passages I read as a result. From that standpoint, this is an absolute win.I have the brown leathersoft edition and I really, really like it. The pages are silver gilded, and the volume comes with two ribbon markers which is becoming more commonplace. The whole volume is very attractive. I also like the typefaces used - the text is very readable and comfortable.Though I got this Bible for personal study it has become the volume I carry with me to church on Sundays. It's not exactly a study Bible but it is not a devotional Bible either. It is instead something different altogether, a Bible designed to establish a deeper understanding of Scripture and better reading/study habits.

Really like how this Bible is done, with larger & easier to read font, space to write notes, prompts to help you focus, meditate & UNDERSTAND Scripture on each page. I have several Bibles, each a different translation/version, but this one & the Evidence Study Bible NKJV (HIGHLY recommend!), are becoming my favorites!

I bought this Bible for my bedside table. I have multiple Bibles that I use to study and dig deeper into the Word but I was looking for something to just sit and meditate on the Word and rest. This is the perfect Bible for that! The prompts and meditation on the side are great, there is also some context given. This version is not the full notes NET version but it truly does help you ABIDE in the Lord.

I’ve wanted this bible for months; I just waited for the right price. This translation is awesome, it helps with my studies, the visuals are also an added bonus. Packaging and shipping were excellent as well. Respectfully

I was looking for a Bible with journaling, praying scripture, reference guide, & discussion.... This is it! Attractive cover with so many options that encourage Bible study, prayer, and overall spiritual growth! I'm pleasantly surprised to find so many incredible elements in one Bible. I'm incredibly satisfied with this product. Recommending to all my friends!

I have been looking for a way to be more engaged in my daily reading and this definitely helps with journal prompts, prayer suggestions and questions. I miss standard Bible notes sometimes but I always have another Bible around to check verses that make me look for a clarifying note. Different than studying the word, but a good way to read the word in addition to study.

I bought the Abide Bible to read and review before leading this course in my church. I am enjoying the freshness of the NET translation. However, I also bought the Bible because "Engaging Through Art" is one of the practices taught in the course and I wanted help with that part. Although the Abide Bible includes some art pages to go along with Scripture, the quality of the reproductions is very poor and the art is difficult to see. Also, none of the art pieces needed for the actual Abide Bible Course are included in the Bible itself, making the 5 practice sessions for "Engage Through Art" difficult to complete.

This bible is beautiful and I’m basically obsessed with it. The binding is nice, the pages feel luxurious (they’re pretty thin though, so be careful!), and the cover is so pretty. I really appreciate how it features artwork and maps - it makes reading the bible so much more immersive. The prompts make me deeply think about what I just read, which prevents me from just scanning over passages without fully absorbing them.

I love this Bible. This second edition, from 2017, is a highly polished work of modern scholarship. I really recommend it.This pew version of their work has a small selection of translator's notes drawn from the over 60,000 that can be found free online at "netbible.org" or in the full-notes version. Although the pages are thin, the Bible is made of quality materials. If you are good to it, I believe it will last. It is also very inexpensive, making a wonderful gift.The NET Bible is an inspired project. Intended to spread the original word of God to everyone, the creators went back to the earliest available transcriptions in the original tongue and started their translation there, directly from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek into modern English. So the result minimizes any loss of original meaning like you get with many modern translations of translations of translations, e.g. Greek to Latin to Old English to Modern English.There were something like 25 scholars who were not only academics specialized in ancient languages, but they were also scholars of the Bible. Plus, they had available to them all of the manuscripts, external manuscripts, and scientific dating techniques that were definitely not available to early translators.On top of all of this, the publisher has made the NET Bible freely available to everyone online and issued their copywrite such that it is free to quote from the NET Bible, as long as you reference it properly.My hope is that other chapters which are recognized by the other main branches of Christianity, specifically Orthodox and Catholic, will be included in an upcoming complete edition, including notes explaining the history of inclusion/exclusion of various chapters, and the scientific dating of the earliest known codex of each chapter.I would also like future editions/printings to include a blue/red ink version to distinguish words of the Father, Holy Spirit, and the Son, and perhaps underlining to distinguish the words of others such as an angel of God, or perhaps Satan, etc.I pray the NET Bible project flourishes and helps to reveal the true gospel to mankind.

This is an amazing Bible, that has a number of different imaginative ways to help you dive deeper into God's word. Using art, journaling, praying the scriptures, and helping to get you imagining that you are right there, in the places and seeing and hearing what is going on around you.The NET is not my absolutely favourite translation, if I am honest, but it is also available in the New King James Version if you prefer. And as long as I am using it but not comparing it to other translations, it is a nice and easy read, and that does work quite well with the prompts you work with.

this bible is so interactive. New way to think, meditate and journal about scripture. I particularly recommend this bible to visual learners. Good artwork that is always relevant to the verse or passage

Great bible great for studying. I love the prayers/meditations down the side of the pages which encourages you to think about what you've just read & to go deeper !
