I buy these for my turtle and she really loves them. No plastic backing to take off. I feel they are also a good value for a great product. Best cuddlebone I’ve purchased for her yet.

This is a great product and my birds really love them! Can’t beat the price either! I would rather buy them from here than buy them from the pet store because I know I can get more for my money!

Personally I don’t think these should be called cuttlebones, as I bought them by mistake. There should be something right in the description that says they’re a compound including less than half cuttlebone material. That being said, I am here today to revise my review. I have raised it by one star, to a respectable 4 stars. The reason for the change is that once they got the hang of it, and figured out how to attack it, the birds did like these. It was not what they were used to. They barely touched it for the first two days. But then the third day, when I came home from work, I found that they had eaten so much of it! So I am still not sure of the other ingredients, and I still think the description itself should indicate that they are not "Natural cuttlebone," which they clearly are not, and which the description clearly says they are. I think this is just wrong of the seller to do this, and I don't know why it's allowed. Nevertheless, it is a treat that my birds have come to appreciate. The original review: They are very hard, not flaky or crumbly, and my nine budgies are still waiting for the real thing. They’ve barely touched it. It’s not a substitute for actual cuttlebones, in my opinion, but perhaps a supplement. I am still left in the situation of needing to buy some cuttlebones. I do understand and somewhat appreciate to ecologically oriented statement from the seller regarding the over-consumption of cuttlefish... what else is new, when it comes to humans? I doubt that providing cuttlebones for our caged birds is the major driver of cuttlebone consumption on the planet, however; we just have to be sure that all the parts of animals that are consumed for one purpose get used as much as possible for other purposes as well. In short, these “might” be liked by your birds as something different, with lots of good minerals etc. but it might be a bit like getting your kids to eat their vegetables. They still want – and perhaps need, for beak conditioning and what not – the cuttlebone.

This 2-pack of cuttlebones was perfect for my particular use, even though one of the pieces arrived cracked. The crack wasn’t an issue because I used them in an aquarium, but those using them in bird cages may prefer uncracked pieces. I used the cuttlebone in my aquarium to add calcium carbonate to the water to help support my aquatic snails shells.

Usually cuttlebones or cuttlebone adjacent products float on the water. Usually the flakes that are made as the turtle bites at it dissolve neatly in the water. This product did not meet those expectations. It sank like a rock and i had to reach in the tank to place it somewhere my turtle could bite at it. instead of neat flakes that dissolved into the tank and added calcium to the water, the product turned to powder as my tutle bit at it and after 3 days, the water was cloudy with the white "cuttlebone" dust. I am giving it 3 stars because my turtle did like the product and enjoyed biting at it. If I had a box turtle, tortoise, or bird, I don't think the product would be problematic. I do not recommend this product for aquatic turtles.

This is the only cuttlebone for my budgie I have found that crosses all the right boxes. The other cuttlebones have been too small, break easily, and were a waste of money. This is worth every penny. It is well packaged and stays fresh rather than the other ones that all come together in flimsy packaging. Once I install it my bird can't stay away from it because she loves the taste. The fact that it is not too thin helps with her not digesting it all in one day and is better for her beak. I wholly recommend this product. This company is very reliable.

I read that these are also good for gerbils to chew on, gives them a little calcium boost - I bought this for a poorly furry who hurt his leg (possible fracture) thinking the extra calcium would do him good. Can't say for sure that the cuttlefish cured him, but he's all better now and he and his brothers have really enjoyed chewing on them!

My parakeets love these and I love the way they come in a package of 6 so I can stock up. They are good size solid cuttle bones.

An expensive price, yet can't be replaced for the damage!? One of the cuttlebones is clearly broken in half..
