Very efficient and quiet a/c
I received this a/couple from Amazon. It was very well packaged and was not made in China but in Australia. Well built unit. the two people that I had to install this unit both were very please with its construction and ease of installation. Both said to me that when their a/c goes out they will replace this with RecPro (Houghton) ac. It is very quiet compared to my old 21 year old Dometic and I love the heat pump function compared to the old heat coil. This blows heat and cold out the front and back as my a/c sits int eh middle of the rv. I love the remote control function, the setting the temperature, the looks inside the rv as it is thinner than the old one. the efficiency is greatly improved. I am very happy with my purchase.

Good replacement or new installation A/C
So I bought this unit to install in my 25 year old coach because the basement A/C quit and getting it out to replace/repair would require a to high a cost for as old as my coach is. So I opted to replace the roof vent in the center of the coach with this Rec Pro unit. This unit is as quiet as the say! My iPhone decibel meter registered 58 on the low fan speed and 65 on the highest speed and cools my 36" coach no problem. Installation was pretty straight forward once I ran a 20A power line to the location. The Manual that comes with the unit could be better, but there are a few DIY videos out there to help guide the installation. Getting the unit up to the roof is a job for more than one, (or my 74 year old body is just no longer up to to it) But the result is a nice quiet unit withe updated tech. - Now, lets see how long it lasts! But for now it's 5 stars!!!!!* Update - So I've had this unit awhile now and it really works great! The only negative thing is the built in timer - Tried to set the clock and the unit kept shutting off - turns out setting the time also turns on the timer and per the manufacturer, the easiest way turn off the timer is to remove the battery from the remote and let sit for a minute or two and then set up the remote again. A/C works great!!!!!!

Great addition!
Installed this unit on 5/18/25. Installation was really easy, the unit came packaged very well, able to cool and heat without issue. It is quieter than most, and the ductless vents are adjustable with good air flow. This was a new addition to my RV as a second unit. I am already planning on buying another to replace my main unit.I enjoy the remote, and the fact no low-voltage wiring needs to be run. I would like to see an option to integrate the controls with other systems, maybe a WiFi connection with some API for custom builds and phone controls/monitoring, but have been very happy with this unit so far.I’ll post back in a year or so after it’s been field tested more.

Seems to work as described.
Received in timely manner. The cover is cracked exactly as others described and pictured in their reviews. Unit was able to be raised to the roof using 2 folks. Once installed in the 14x14 vent fans old slot the roof was too thick so the bolts were exactly short and would not work as others mentioned. So had to go hunting for bolts. Had to use bolt extensions and engineer a working solution. ( please include longer bolts as we can always cut to size so long is better ). Our rv a Thor quantum, was not designed for being able to run or use a 115 volt wire, everything was metal and welded closed. So had to run the wiring to the roof through the AC roof gasket and bolt it to the outside ( more unwanted holes to be made)This project took nearly three days to instal due to all the trips. However, so far i like the unit. I will most likely get another one when the main original unit decides to croak. Be advised, this unit weighs over 100 lbs so you definitely will need help or lifting equipment to get it onto your RV roof. It turned cooler here before we it used the first time but our RV would get unbearably hot when over 80F outside and this additional unit helped keep us comfortable in the mid 90’s outside so it works for what we needed. Note the unit has plenty of air flow. It also came with everything including the seal gasket. I also love the wireless remote and not needing to wire a thermostat

This is the one you want. Really.
It was packed 3 well padded boxes thick. Very secure. The unit is heavy, but the build quality is second to none. All copper was silverbrazed with b cup 5. (Grade 3). All components were robust and heavy wall. Compressor is whisper quiet. I was so impressed, I bought a second one to replace my forward unit. I replaced two Coleman Mach series. Both were good, and cooled well, but my generator could only push one...barely. I can run both these units at the same time no issue. They cool better, they are quieter, and have less draw. This unit is 100% complete. The only thing extra you have to buy is a tube of sealant and 3 wire nuts. The instal took about 45 minutes each. It is ridiculously easy. Inside, outside unit, all hardware, seals and remote are included. Perfect for the DIY guy or gal that has an adjustable wrench and a screwdriver. Instructions are very good, but you won't need them. 4 bolts, 3 wires, instal 2 batteries...Done.

Well made unit, works great
I bought 2 of these units and because of the low price I thought they might not be the greatest. But they are far better made than the Dometic brand that came with my Newmar motorhome. BOTH units failed on the dometic for the exact same reason, they ran copper pipes next to each other as they entered the evaporator chamber and vibration wore a hole in the pipes as they eroded each other. These units are much better laid out, pipes are sleeved and not routed next to each other. I know this because I had to take off all the covers to adapt the unit to my ducted motorhome. I didn't want to cut through my ceiling and built in ductwork. The opening in the roof is the same 14x14 but you have to make sure the in and the out for the ducted ceiling motorhome is blocked correctly. Just look at your old one to see what I mean. I like that this unit uses a separate fan for the condenser and evaporator, it is much quieter and far less vibration than the Dometic unit. Almost as quiet as a mini split and it really pumps the air, both cool for summer and hot for winter. Better flow than the stock units. I love the remote control and ceiling display. I ran the control wire (4 thin wires in the cable) down through the ceiling and just put up the display shell that goes on the inside. I cut the wire and reconnected on the inside to reduce the hole size through the ceiling. It has a connector to the control unit. Most of you will use it the way it is meant to be installed, as will I on my next project. This is so much easier to use than the the built in non remote, hard to get at, confusing, controller that came with the motorhome. I am super happy. I did all the work myself at 71 years of age, the units weight about 100 lbs. I rented a material handler to lift the units, I highly recommend spending the 75 bucks. It helps to have a strong son.I almost took off a star for a couple of very small cracks in the plastic top shell, but they are not structural hard to see and very minor. Just be ready for that, I didn't bother the factory because it wasn't worth it. The shells look and work just fine.I am going to buy another 15k unit for my camper van conversion, these are a terrific value.

Awesome addition to a fifth wheel with two A/C units already installed.
We have an RV set up permanently as a seasonal site. The two A/C units (a different brand) are 15,000 and 13,500 BTU each, but would not keep the RV cool enough in hot Midwestern summers. We installed a portable A/C unit that vents out a window in order to keep comfortable. It takes up valuable floor space, so we wanted a third unit. Our Avalanche 338GK was already wired for a third unit. An RV tech who comes to our site recommended this unit. We ordered it on his recommendation and he installed it. Wow! What a difference. With the two original A/C units going, the RV gets about 10-12°F cooler than the outside area. That's not great when it's 98° out! We installed this and now with all three running, we can cool it down about 25° cooler than the outside air. The A/C units cycle on and off now as they are not having to work as hard and our electric bill is actually lower!

Huge upgrade
Well worth every penny!!!! What a wonderful upgrade! I replaced my original AC with this one. My old was came with the RV . It was brand new, LOUD, INEFFICIENT AND required me to stand on a step ladder to reach the stupid controls that gave only high and low options. The RecPro is incredibly powerful, quiet, user friendly, has a remote control and it’s a heat pump if you’re out of or low on propane. It’s also a dehumidifier!!! Please consider this if you’re looking to replace your RV AC
