Don't use this for winter/ice camping!
I truly enjoy the size and form of this device, especially the fact that it is waterproof, since I bought it specifically for ice fishing and camping in my ice fishing shelter. It is important to always have a CO detector while running any kind of heater in an enclosed space. I wanted to love this detector, but I have lost all trust in this device. The problem lies in the fact that it seems to "freeze" in sub-freezing temperatures, even mild temperatures right around 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 C). I've been out fishing in some extremely cold temperatures in which the interior temperature of my ice shelter drops below freezing. I will go to look at this CO detector and if it is too cold, the display will be off even though it was turned on, and still seems to consider itself to be in an "on" yet unresponsive state. When this happens, I turn the heater up or move the device closer to the heat to warm it back up. After some time, the display will turn back on, but if I look at the built in clock, it will show whatever time it was when the device "froze." So when the device freezes, it stops telling time, which also tells me it likely stops reading the CO levels which can be life-threatening. I can no longer sleep in my shelter with this device as I don't believe that it would reliably wake me up if CO rose to dangerous levels. It's really disappointing because this not an inexpensive device. If you're looking to use this device in cold temps, look elsewhere if you value your life. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solid alternative at this point in time.

Bought for a vacation
After those people died in Turks and Caicos we bought this. Easy to use. Simple to read. Nice to have a bit of peace of mind.

Bought it for tailgating, now I use it for everything
I originally picked this up for cold weather tailgating. Every once and a while we would see 2-5 ppm with the walls up and the heaters running.I store it hanging in our garage near the entrance to our house and the audible alarm let me know that running our car (even with the garage doors open) was allowing CO to get surprisingly high. It definitely works. The case seems very sturdy so I am looking forward to using it during the ice-fishing season as well.

Great for Vanlifers
Every Vanlifer needs a CO2 sensor in their van (I actually have 3 - just to be safe). This is my favorite - portable, compact. Don't get the cheapest - invest in a solid product when it comes to something as critical as not waking up. This had great reviews and after using it for a few weeks, I gave it 5 stars.

A life saver.
We purchased this after husband got carbon monoxide symptoms while driving his truck over night a few months back. At first he thought he was having a stroke or heart attack. They took him to ER and all blood and enzymes were perfect. Doctor said he had vertigo. It was hot and he hadn’t eaten so we thought that was it. Come to find out another driver got the same symptoms- while driving the same truck. We are convinced the carbon monoxide is what got him sick. We are ready to put this item to the test.

Great piece of mind!
This product works exactly as advertised. Purchased for a houseboat trip to Lake Powell, this device updated instantly as I moved through the houseboat. Never got to an alarm point but fluctuated between 10-26PPM. We used this device to validate PPM from the hard wired CO detectors on board. The only opportunity is the tether attachment is a ring that does not allow much flexibility to hang, maybe just a flex rope of some kind in the future.

Airplane Safety
I Bought it to clip onto my flight bag. As a pilot, carbon monoxide is a concern in general aviation aircraft. With a two year standby battery, I just leave it on so it can monitor the house as well. Solid construction. Give one to a pilot you know.
