Originally an influential memo Vogler wrote for Walt Disney Animation executives regarding The Lion King, The Writer’s Journey details a twelve-stage, myth-inspired method that has galvanized Hollywood’s treatment of cinematic storytelling. A format that once seldom deviated beyond a traditional three-act blueprint, Vogler’s comprehensive theory of story structure and character development has met with universal acclaim, and is detailed herein using examples from myths, fairy tales, and classic movies. This book has changed the face of screenwriting worldwide over the last 25 years, and continues to do so. Review: Should know Info - Great research treasury for the screenplay or novel author. indispensable. Review: Every Writer Should Just Own This Masterpiece! - This book has become essential in my daily reading and understanding of writing. There is so much information!! It is so easy to read and imperative to structure and content with all types of writing. It also has a world of knowledge and information regarding Joseph Campbell's fantastic book - "The Hero with A Thousand Faces." While I read THAT book years ago, and while it is impressive, Christopher Vogel distilled all the good stuff into a workable tome! Now I understand what Campbell was getting to. This book is just brilliant. Just buy the book! You will be soooo glad you did!!

Awesome Narrative techniques (but a bit wordy)
I love the Hero's Journey and Mythology. This book shows you how to translate that into graet storytelling. My only complaint is that it's a bit repetitive - could be easily condensed to 100 pages. Awesome Narrative techniques (but a bit wordy)

I Just Started This Book and Love It
This is a great book that I’ve managed to work into my reading stack “backlog.” I started reading it the day it arrived and it’s very well-written and just what I needed for my Writer’s Journey. Aspiring writers and novelists won’t be disappointed; neither will published authors, for that matter ;)

Wonderful book, insights + substance-- a wealth of knowledge
THis is the kind of book i want to keep on my bedside table for a year or so and read every night. TO be read slowly, to absorb all the richness. A book that will never age. A must read for any serious scriptwriter.

Good
The timing was respected and the book was what the right one. The cover was not in perfect condition.

Great content, but pricey but with loose binding.
The content of the book is time-tested and extremely valuable — not only for aspiring screenplay writers but also for anyone who simply wants to appreciate films and understand the finer details of storytelling. However, the physical quality of the product is disappointing. The binding is very loose, and pages began coming out by the second day. Considering it seems to be an imported edition and is priced at over ₹2000, this is hard to justify. That said, the book itself is excellent. I had it rebound at a local bookshop, and now it’s perfectly fine to use.

''You can't teach writing"
"You can't teach writing " but you can learn about it and forget it so it returns in creation as instincts and for that Vogler book is amazingly useful.

Illuminante davvero!
