This IS NOT a chew toy!!!
After reading the negative reviews, it became apparent that a lot of people hand this toy to their dog and let them use it as a chew toy. It is not meant for that. It is a throwing toy. It is a tug o war toy. If you give it to your dog to gnaw on, it won't last a day. If you play fetch with it and put it aside when you are done, it will last quite a while. My pit mix loves to play tug of war with it. It holds up extremely well to his abuse, but it won't last an hour if I forget to take it from him when we are done. Bottom line is that these things are awesome and will hold up well for what they are meant to do. They won't last forever no matter how you play, but they are tough. If you are looking for a give and forget chew toy, get them a bone, or one of those black rubber thingies.

I'm not sure this company knows the meaning of DURABLE...
Do I HAVE to leave one star? Where's the ZERO star option?... "Tuffy toys are the most durable dog toys on the market!"...this is what they claim however, they must not have dogs that actually chew on toys. If your dog is anything more than a dog who just mouths fabric toys, this one is no different than any other fabric-stuffing-filled toy. 4 minutes, yes FOUR, is all it took for my ridgeback to have the toy torn open, stuffing out, and squeaker removed. Funny thing is, he is gentle with the other fabric toys that we have that my pugs toss around. I figured this one, larger in size and "durable" would be a good fabric toy to be his own. Definitely not the case. Complete waste of money. I should have just spent $10 on food treats and they would have lasted longer.

This is one tough toy
Great for tug of war and fetch, heavy enough, balanced, my dog can get her nose through the middle, which makes for some hilarious photos. We inherited the smaller size, already used, and it has withstood every test. The toy stays outdoors through rain and snow and still holds together. She has chewed the edges but she can't pull it apart. I bought this one, the larger size, about five months ago. My dog is a 40 lb golden doodle. Either size is good... I think she actually prefers the smaller one, The toughest dog toys I've ever seen.

Thought it would be a little more indestructible
This was my first time trying this product/brand. I’m always on the look out for durable/tough products and their description: “Tuffy toys are the most durable dog toys on the market!” had me sold and didn’t mind paying more. Unfortunately already after 5 minutes, my dog already did this damage. I completely understand this is not a chew toy and I did take it away, but easier said than done making sure dogs don’t chew it. I thought it would last longer than 5 minutes for my dog to do this damage. The hunt is still on!

Not indestructible but nothing is for Pitbulls
It stood up to my doggie a lot longer than I thought it would! I ordered another. The pic doesn't do the old one justice but most of the stuffing is gone after two months. I'm happy the stuffing is cotton, even though he spits most of it out. Not sure how they rated it a 9 on the indestructible scale but they do say nothing is indestructible. I believe it lived up to its promise for a destroyer dog like mine. Will probably keep buying them.

vicious cycle
this is the cycle of this tuffy toy with my 35-lb doodle:1) doodle chews a hole through this toy in literally 5 minutes and starts ripping the stuffing and squeaker toys out.2) furmom (yours truly) throws away the little white stuffing clouds that are now all over the house and also tries to pulls out the stuffing that is exposed in the toy.3) partially-stuffed fabric exoskeleton keeps doodle entertained for about a month. in the meantime, furmom has to pick up and vacuum all the little bits of the chewed up fabric that are all over the house.4) after about a month, there's just a little shred of smelly disgusting fabric left.5) furmom throws smelly fabric shred away and caves and buys yet another tuffy toy. i am completely caught up in this scam of a cycle because my pup loves it.

Gift for a new puppy
We bought this as a welcome present for our friend's new puppy because we had good experience with this brand and that their toys were more durable than others (and they can be thrown in the washer to get clean!). However, we noticed when we received this one that some (a lot) of the threads were either loose or that it was not trimmed/cut off before being packaged/shipped, which really shows the lack of care in the product. I hope their quality has not declined over the years, as it has been few years since we purchased their toys for our dog (the one we bought years ago is still in pretty good condition). The puppy really loves it, especially when it squeaks. She is too small to pick it up at this point, but when we make it squeak and throw it to her, she will "attack it with her mighty teeth". I will check in with my friend in a bit to see if the thread situation got worse, but other than that, I think it's a great toy that is fun for the dogs.

SPARKY Approved
My 100lb American Bully (Sparky) LOVES to annihilate-rip apart ALL toys Big & Small. Tuffy toys stand up to my Toy Terminator. They are not indestructible, but last a very very long time. Sparky loves this brand because they do challenge him, they squeak & he can eventually destroy them. And I love Tuffy because they are economical, tough & keep Sparky's interest. They don't have to be replaced each week & are reasonably priced. And, of course, because Sparky loves them. Tuffy is not only Sparky approved, but Sparky's mommy approved as well.

Not a tuffy after all!
Not a tough toy at all - survived all of 10 minutes after my dog picked away at the supposedly superior stitching then exposed the stuffing, which he rapidly pulled out. Yes no toy is indestructible but thought it would be more robust than this for £8!

Very Good Dog Toy
My dog loves this toy.

Not quite so "tuffy".
Took 40 mins for my staffy cross to get through the stitching. He's relentless in his quest though, so not sure I can blame product quality entirely, hence the 4 stars.

Tough for a dog that likes to chew
Still going and not destroyed as yet.

Tuffy toys do the job.
Although I don't have a dog, bought this toy for something to rag on and I must say it's one of the best I've ever had! lol. My brothers dog, a jack Russell, however; loves it and is still in one piece, so a very good product.
