Perfect size for a travel reel
I was looking to put together a travel surf rig i.e compact yet sturdy and not too expensive . I've acquired a 4 piece fiblink rod that can be stored in a 29" piece of PVC pipe and needed a reel to match . I started out with a Shimano sienna 4000 but that could hardly hold about 180 ft of 20 lb braid and looked overspooled even at that point . I started looking at the quantum optix and strategy reels which all look more substantial than the Shimano but eventually decided to spend the extra $ on the sealed reliance model as it gives me more options Ie. a single compact reel with a powerful drag can take abuse / salt / sand abuse . I wasn't sure what to make of the 4500 size but now that I've got the reel in hand, it's basically a 4000 sized reel (about the same size as the Shimano) with a 5000 size spool (about the same size as the spool on my pen pursuit 5000) . Operationally, the reel , while not as free spinning as my other budget reels (probably on account of all the extra seals) just feels "sturdy" .I have it spooled with 300 yards of 20 lb braid and about 15 yard (45 ft ) of 30 lb monofilament shock leader (fluoro is $$$, feels too stiff and tends to break if a cast goes wrong .. so switching to the cheaper and more elastic monofilament) . See pix.Overall, first impressions are positive and will update after some usage . About the only negative (which might not be a big deal .. given the drag setting) is this reel seems somewhat geared for speed rather than power .

Reels
Nice reels the only thing I don't like is you can't shut off the anti-revese. No back reeling. Not sure if that matters but would be nice to have the option

A fully sealed reel at a reasonable price
bought the 3500 size for inshore kayak fishing in Florida and South Carolina (reds, trout, snook, flounder). Very impressed with the gaskets and washers that try to keep out the saltwater; rarely will you see a sealed reel at this price. Seems rugged enough for kayak fishing and is plenty light. The bail has been a weak point on past spinning reels for me and the Quantum seems to have beefed up the bail connections and minimized its exposure beyond the reel body. The reel has clean lines for easy cleaning; nowhere for saltwater to easily hide from a freshwater rinse. I look forward to putting the reel through its paces.

Great value
I own the 35 and the 85Both perform well at landing fish. Smooth drag and great price for a sealed unit. I use the for surf fishing and have held up well so far

No spinfisher but I'm happy with it
When I saw there was a $99 sealed spinning reel I figured it was worth a shot. I am used to Penn Spinfisher VIs, so that is my comparison point. I will say it is not as smooth or quiet as my spinfishers, but it is not bad at all. Line lay was good when I spooled it up. Drag clicker is nice and loud, not blasting, but definitely audible.I rigged it up and took it out on my kayak. Managed to snag a 19" Striper. I have the 30 size. Drag handled the fight perfectly well. Was super happy with it. Took it home and gave it a rinse since I'm in saltwater. Still feels great. Hopefully it holds up well.4 stars instead of 5 simply because the Spinfisher is what I'd call a 5 star reel and this is just a touch under it in my opinion. For $99 as opposed to the $140+ of the Spinfisher though, I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Wow super value
Have pulled up 3 8ft nurse sharks from 101ft depth on 65lb braid and tons of 40in+ red drum, grouper, snook and cobia. I own 8 of these now and every time we go off shore I know these reels perform just as good as my 600$ pen spinning reels. I also have 2 setup for surf fishing and what a combo under 500$ paired with berrypro carbon 13ft rods. You will not find a sealed reel at this price point with the performance of the pt.

Buen carrete.
Hasta ahora es lo que yo me imaginé al comprarlo, falta ver con los años. Lo único que le pongo de pero son los baleros se sienten un poco duros al girar la manivela. No tiene la suavidad de los otros carretes con los mismos baleros.

Very solid reel
Very solid product. Just too much grease inside. It feels much better after the service.
