Updated: Great job smoothing as it should - bought a size smaller than I normally wear
Update: So, I got a chance to finally wear this to a wedding. It did not live up to my expectations from when I did a short trial run in my bedroom. The straps ended up halfway down my arms and digging into my upper arms. The skirt bottom would not stay down, regardless of what I did. I tried pantyhose over the bottom and under the skirt part, I tried it under the whole kit and caboodle. No matter what I did, through simple walking and sitting, the skirt ended up around my waist. Trying to pull it back down was a constant pain in the butt, especially since half the time I couldn't tell it was moving up until it was already there.I wasn't sure how to feel about this, all I can remember is my childhood and having to help my mom with her hook and eye closures on shapewear. It is not a pleasant memory, and I hadn't noticed the one spot in the description where it mentions this having a hook and eye crotch closure. But I tried it on anyway, with undergarments (top and bottom), and is how I'll wear it - for maximum comfort and effectiveness/cleanliness (I'm the 'weirdo' who wears underwear with pantyhose too, fwiw).I normally wear a 12/XL, but followed advice/packaging and bought a L - it fight perfect. It was tight, but not soul sucking, OMG I CANT BREATHE tight, just a reassuring "you're sucked and tucked and look fabulous" squeeze, like the hug of a trusted friend. It was a bit harder to get into than the brief bottom version, but not bad. Taking it off.... I will admit I may have said a bit loudly as I tried to get it off "Boyfriend!!! Help!!! I'm stuck!!!" For some reason I think I had the crotch un-buttoned and was trying to get it off over my head - I have the distinct memory of if all bunch up under my boobs and feeling a bit trapped. This may not be an accurate memory, and I'm definitely going to advocate the putting on and taking off like a swimsuit method for this.To test the effectiveness of this, I put on a dress I love that shows the dreaded "belly button shadow" - and it smoothed out all the lines and made a much nicer shape. I asked my boyfriend his thoughts, and had him compare the dress with and without the shapewear - he said it was subtle difference, but he did notice one. I'm not crazy, I don't think this will shave 50 or even 25 lbs off my body, but I appreciate the smoothing effective it (and any shapewear) gives, and my boyfriend did think the dress looked better with this. The bottom of the shapewear did stay in place, even when I moved/jumped around in an exaggerated fashion as the ultimate test.I wasn't sure how comfortable this would be over my own bra - it was, and I decided to buy several other styles. It's a great purchase, because even if it's a small difference, there are some dresses (right or wrong) that I feel self conscious in that this will let me without stupid insecurities at the forefront of my mind. No one (myself included) NEEDS shapewear, but I think it can help you feel confident in your body and in your skin, eventually feeling that way without it. I know there are more expensive versions out there, but for me, this did the trick great.

Ineffective junk
I had high hopes for this name brand product when I bought it, but was sorely disappointed. I wear compression slips most days, but Amazon stopped carrying the comparably priced ones I like best. Firstly, although I bought based on my size, I found that there was very little compression--not much more than a bathing suit really. Worse though, was the fact that the lower edge of the slip had nothing to keep it from sliding up around my waist. The crotch panel (which I didn't realize was there when I purchased it--I'm not a fan) kept the waist in place, but the "skirt" portion kept riding up to my waist, creating a lumpy bulk around my middle that did the exact opposite of what I'd purchased the thing for. Many brands of compression slips have a little strip of rubber at the bottom so friction will keep it in place, and the makers really should have done that. I am disgusted that I spent this much money on a totally useless garment.

This should be an Olympic sport
1st of all, it should be an Olympic sport getting these things on. I was out of breath & questioning my life's choices by the time it was all said & done. That being said, I am 40 years old, 5'4 & about 210 lbs. I'm a solid size 16. I purchased the XL size in black. It fits as expected. It's supposed to be tight people, to hold all the fat in. That's the whole point. I bought it because i have recently gained quite a bit of weight due to health issues & well just life tbh. And most of my clothes either don't fit or are super tight & show my brand new super sexy belly bulge. After buying 4 other ones in different styles & sizes that didn't fit I came across this one as a last cry for help. Finally found a winner! Although I likely to have died getting it on! No joke. I was prepared to meet my Maker. Anyway today as I write this I'm wearing a top I haven't been able to wear in awhile as it made me look 5 months pregnant. This holds everything in & smooths you out beautifully. My one & only negative comment is it's a slip, not a romper. Meaning it's very long. Or I'm just short. It comes down to about mid thigh on me. So it's not great for wearing w jeans as it goes past your who ha. But I don't own any skirts or dresses & so I'm just making it work as I love it & don't want to return this one. Might be good w leggings as the weather gets cooler. I also don't understand the hook & eye situation around the who ha. Not necessary. I don't even have mine hooked. Other than that it's great & I highly recommend! Oh and it also helps w the pesky back fat some of us are blessed with. This saved me from having to go out & buy a bunch of new clothes at the moment.

Nicely smoothing for underneath my one-shouldered wedding dress!
As much as I've enjoyed chuckling through the majority of these reviews describing epic elastene battles, I didn't personally have any problems! I'm 5'7, 165lbs, hourglass shaped, wearing 10/12 in dresses and ordered a large. I'm not looking to carve out a whole new figure, just give a smoothing effect under my one shouldered, Grecian style wedding dress. Finding what to wear under that has been tricky, but this is just what I was looking for. It doesn't suffocate me and I can say it's pretty comfortable. It just provides a sleeker and firmer appearance, making my dress hang the way I wanted it to. I can't speak to how many "inches" it removed, but as I'm more concerned about the end visual result I'd say this purchase was a win.I walked all around, sat up and down and did the bend and snap to test whether the skirt part would go rogue on me. As long as you aren't taking extremely looong strides or doing jumping jacks, it will stay put! I believe a lot of issues with this product have stemmed from simply ordering a size too small. Sure, a smaller size would "compress" more. But then as the rest of it won't fit properly the hem would create a line at the thighs and eventually roll up and the upper portion would dig into your back in unflattering ways. Just order closest to your true size (not the size you want it to transform you into, lol) and you will be rocking your curves in this!

2- comfortable. 3- cinches in waist
Pros:1- fits true to size.2- comfortable.3- cinches in waist.Cons:1- does not control lower belly pouch. Makes it more visible.2- Highlights belly button especially with more fitted dresses.I was hoping to wear this with a body con dress but that will not happen.

Be careful on sizing
I am 5ft tall and usually a size 14I ordered size 2X L (16 to 18 on label ) as I had read reviews saying it came up small and I would agree, as this fits me comfortably. It rides up when sitting down, but not too bad on walking, seems to settle around mid thigh but this is not visible even under a cream dress. It does make a nice smooth contour to the look of body contoured dresses, however in a light coloured dress such as cream the seams on the integral panties can be seen when the dress is stretched for example when you bend down.I could possibly have got an even better shape with a smaller size , but I have opted for comfort and no back muffin top.

This works great! Comfortable, no show, and works well to smooth everything
Purchased this to wear under a dress that had a skin-tight nylony fabric bodice that showed my bra lines clearly (and everything else). It also had a plunging v-neck, which couldnt work with my only other shaper (a boyshort bodysuit with built in bra). I used this in combination with one of those adhesive silicone no-show bras, and it worked great to accomodate my dress! The fabric on this is really nice and smooth, so it helps clothing hang well. The clasps on the bodysuit part were easy enough to open and close again when using the bathroom, and nothing shifted or pinched weirdly through a long night of hosting a party. I had no issues with my slip sliding up as some other reviewers mentioned, and I was constantly between walking, sitting, leaning, going up and down my stairs, etc..The top cutout on this works really well for bras - its not too high or low, and offers just enough smoothing support to cover over a regular underwire. It worked PERFECTLY with my weird stick-on silicone bra thingies - didnt cause them to peel off (which I was slightly worried about having never used sticky bra bits before) and offered enough support to help prevent me from bouncing around too much. For reference for sizing - I purchased this in a size Medium in the black, and it fits like a glove. No bum jiggles, or bra or underwear lines, and no bunching. Im 172 cm and about 65 kg. I usually wear a size small to medium and am generally a size 4/ size 27 in pants. I eat too many cookies and I gain weight evenly, and am definitely carrying some soft pudgies around both my waist and bum. This dress offered nice and smooth compression around my waist and hips while still being comfortable enough to wear over 8 hours.I would definitely recommend, and am considering purchasing this in the nude to wear with some of my summer dresses (its tempting at the thought of being able to really tuck in at all those summer barbeques. lol.)

Small fitting but great product!
I am a size 14 but my friend has this product and told me it is small fitting, I ordered the XL and it's hard to get on but once it's on it is comfortable and does an excellent job! Highly recommend!

I recommend this item.
As described. Fits great. Only problem is the hooks between the legs are inconvenient will probably not reach the washroom if you had to go.. lol other than that all perfect and does the job.
