NYX Professional Makeup Eyeshadow Palette 10 Color, Jazz Night, 0.49-Ounce

This palette contains primarily BLACKENED COLORS, meaning black or near-black dark bases with different colored shimmer/glitter. Of course, the obvious exceptions are the pink and the light teal.I bought this primarily for the color selection, as I love blackened shades and I wanted to spice up my usual plain black eyeliner. For that purpose, it works very well. Applied, the shades are true to pan ONLY IF layered over a sticky base. Black bases work the best, such as kohls or any soft, creamy black eyeliner (I have found that the NYX jumbo pencil in Black Bean works better than my other black eyeliners in bringing out the shimmer, probably because it is so oily/sticky) but clear/light bases (such as Pixie Epoxy) will also work. Layering both also works for me. And of course, the stickier your base is, the more shimmer it will bring out versus the black.By themselves (no primer, no base, just on bare skin), these eyeshadows do not work. They will show as unpigmented, dry, and patchy, and will not show much, if any, of the jewel-like shimmers that you see in the pan.I give this a 3 because it works quite well for my purposes, and the shades are gorgeous and true-to-pan when applied over a base first. However, if you are a makeup newbie, be warned.DO NOT BUY if you are a strictly natural/neutral kind of gal. DO NOT BUY if you are looking for a single basic all-in-one palette. DO NOT BUY if you are looking for high quality, buttery, well pigmented shades. (NYX is usually known for their cheap but high quality eyeshadows; this palette must be an exception. Makes sense though as good quality blackened shades are difficult to find, and nearly impossible to find one that works without a base.)DO buy if you would like to try blackened-shimmer shades but do not want to spend a load of money on something you might not end up liking or using often.DO buy if you like blackened shimmers and already own a suitable base for them - the shades really do look great and stay put all day with a base. My personal favorite is the blackened blue on the bottom left corner.

Don't judge, but there's great satisfaction when I find knockoff cosmetics that mimic high end brands at a fraction of the cost. I feel like I'm getting away with something and this is a pretty good Mac (or Nars...or insert your favorite expensive brand in here) dupe.I bought this figuring if it didn't work out, it was a pretty inexpensive mistake. But it wasn't. A mistake that is. Colors are largely neutral and very wearable. I like color, so this has a little more 'pop' than some of the other palettes, but you get 10 generously sized eyeshadows. Smoothness of the shadow, color payout and even how long it lasts on my lids all seem favorably comparable to other, more expensive shadows I've tried. As good as anything I've bought at Sephora.You know how magazines do those features where there's two like things and one of them costs a small fortune and the other is relatively affordable? But sometimes, if you ever see the two things together in real life you can totally tell which one is the cheaper version. If that side-by-side was done with this as the 'cheaper' version, you'd be hard pressed to tell a real difference.

When the palette arrived, it's much smaller than anticipated but that's fine the product pods are full sized. The first thing I do is throw away the applicator with any eyeshadow, if you don't use brushes I highly recommend you try them. The colors here run to the peach/pumpkin side of pink and browns. Good to know due to whatever eye color/complexion you may have. I have green eyes so these colors work for me, although from the pictures I didn't expect them to be quite so peachy-orange.Pigmentation is only fair to good here I'm afraid, were it better I would have given them 5 stars, but as it is, I strongly recommend using eyeshadow primer with this product(if using primer isn't your routine) or it won't last long. So, all things considered I think this is a good product, I've ordered more, it just could be a bit better if NYX would work on the pigmentation issue.

I practically use this palette every day. I don't use a brush for applying these colors because they are very soft and become loose and just a bit messy, especially the highlight shades (top left shade #1 & bottom right shade #5)/high shimmer shades: which are top row shade #2, #3, & #5; bottom row #3 & #4.I bought a pack of sponge tip eyeshadow applicators just for this palette. Although the darker colors aren't as dark when applied, you will still achieve a VERY nice smokey look. I HIGHLY recommend an eye primer for maximum benefit and staying power! I use my fav, Too Faced eye primer. I would recommend this very nice, all in one smokey eye palette. I would have easily rated this 5 stars if the dark colors were more pigmented, but nevertheless, I'm happy with this palette for the price! Good purchase.

I have been looking for a good eyeshadow palette where all the colours are nice, and this is perfect. the eyeshadows are slightly creamy but in a way that looks good and not wet. the powder goes on really well and blends exceptionally well too. In the past i have bought simlar products and the eyeshadow is dry, it creases and does not blend and the overall appearance on the eyes is not good at all. The set is great value, and does create a natural flawless look. The only thing i would say was that i dont like the brush that comes with it, but that can easily be changed for another!

these eye shadows are extremely pigmented. Always had trouble finding a good black and this one is perfect! Bought it mainly to replace what would have been the Naked pallet by urban decay but i couldn't afford it. Great product :)

Nice neutral shades. Good coverage.

Great palette. Stays put but probably because I use a primer before application. Didn't give a five because 2 colours have huge sparkles in them. I'm forced to dust off these sparkles for a more natural look which I prefer. But in all, nice colours.

Nice product but I think i'd been sent a tester as brush had product on it already....
