The scent of it is light and fresh (unisex in nature) and not overpowering. Clean really. It does add shine and definition and doesn't crunch. I've not had issues with flaking or dust either. The one issue that I noticed is that it does tend to dry out the ends of hair. How I compensate for this is to use aloe vera in my hair first to give it moisture and to begin the definition process. I add a good amount to my ends and then I add a bit of this gel to keep my hair in place. I do add a bit to my ends, but they do not dry out because of the aloe. My favorite aspects of this gel are the fragrance and the shine that it adds to hair while controlling it. It does work well for slick hairstyles or putting in wet hair. Unfortunately it can make hair feel a bit tacky and frizzy.
