This is a battery tender and not a trickle charger. It is designed as something you can use to recharge your battery pretty quickly then put it your car battery for extended periods so that it won’t go dead. Unlike a trickle charger, it won’t try and keep charging your battery once it’s fully charged. If that’s what you need, then this is a great one. It’s super simple to use. You can even hard-wire it to the battery and leave a tail for plugging it in. I bought this to maintain voltage on the 12V system on my EV. Though our EV is our main car, we don’t drive it much, we seldom drive it far, and sometimes (especially when we go on driving vacations in our other car), it’ll sit for a week or two at a time. EVs have small batteries and a bunch of always-on electronics that just don’t sit well with that. This keeps the car ready in all those long sit conditions. I wish I could just leave my EV plugged into the charger and let it figure out how to keep the battery charged. But as the poem goes, if wishes were horses… well that ain’t the situation. This is. Sometimes, the images just do not show me everything I need to know... but I love this tender. Strong enough to get the job done and it has the power and options for my batteries. I believe that, on one version of this tender / charger, someone posted that it has to be plugged in, it does, it is not a battery jumper, but they have that as a stand alone item as well... we just have to look for it. This version was a good value for the money for me, the instructions are simple to grasp, connection is simple with the Ring Mount (the large clamps detach, leaving the Ring Mount). The unit is compact to have near my motorcycle, and tending is quick and easy. This unit, and most of them I see have connectivity across different types of batteries as well, and with the 3 Amp version here, the speed of the charge up is fast. Additionally, and why I picked it up, was for the tending feature. Five Stars!

I may have overbought this charger for my needs, but I like it. I didn't expect it to be as large as it is. It works well for attaching it to my 42-year-old pickup truck, which I drive occasionally, keeping it charged and ready to go. I bought a second identical charger for my Diesel truck, but it is 5 Amp. Yes, I recommend this.

This battery charger/tender is keeping two batteries going in my Dodge ram. Been doing good for multiple months now. I got another vehicle after purchasing new batteries so I purchased this to keep the new batteries longer. Truck does sit for extended periods of time. But fires up when I need it.

My RV Cab engine battery kept dying. Plug this into outlet and to the battery itself and never had a Batter issue again in the RV Cab. Cord length is excellent as had a bit of a distance and obstacles to work around and still had plenty of cord left. Indicator notes when power issue or not charging. Compatible with any vehicle type battery and other's I'm sure. Very much worth the money as I replaced 2 dead batteries and haven't since got this for over a year now.

I have a great older car that isn’t driven often which results in a dead battery. Before I got this, I had to call roadside assistance 3 or 4 times last winter even though I have a car jump starter that works well but not on a completely dead battery. Since having this gadget, which I use at least once a week, my battery problem has resolved. Very worthwhile purchase. And easy to use too; I’m an old gal and it intimidated me at first. Now I look forward to lifting my car hood and attaching this to my battery all by myself!

Well made but BIG! Almost a foot across! Looks quite robust! It comes with a clamp-type harness. If you want ring type you have to unscrew the clamps from the harness, which leaves the rings. The "manual" is really awful...poorly written and printed on cheap paper. I'm sure its a fine unit, but was too large to fit where I needed to put it so I returned it unused. Unfortunately, this item can ONLY be returned to a Whole Foods store- HIGHLY INCONVENIENT - mine is 32 miles away!

This is great for keeping the battery charged on my lawn tractor.

Edited My truck battery was frozen, dead, and this couldn't detect it. I jump-started the truck, took it for a short drive, then hooked it up again. It detected the battery and charged it in a day. :) UPDATE :( Today I went to hook it up to the truck and got a spark when I plugged it in, the wire on the ac cord has stripped where it comes out of the unit. Fortunately it was my last day to return it. I also have the 1.25 amp model which is 10 years old, a better design, still works great, and is conveniently unavailable right now. I wanted a larger one for the truck. I returned it. Have to think now.
