Good thick gesso for price. Have had no issues with applying or maintaining a good surface to paint upon. Would recommend if never used gesso and unsure if you need it this is a good price to find that out. A surface with a good amount of gesso is a unique painting experience and quite enjoyable.

This works great on your substrate before using acrylics or oils. Add water for a thinner coat, goes on nicely. Easy cleanup.

Exactly as pictured. The gesso works as advertised, except it dries thin. So you'll have to do multiple coats to completely cover your surface. It has an intense chemical aroma that requires circulated air or work outdoors. It's easy to use and apply. It can be thinned down even further. Overall a good cheap option.

I am giving Gesso 5 stars because I believe it would work well on surfaces other than glass. It is very thick and creamy and would probably work like another famous primer to cover stains and provide a clean surface for paint to bond. I purchased this product because of instructions I found on the internet to prime mason jars prior to painting. The product went on very easy and appeared to be dry the next day when I used chalk paint on the jars. I found that the chalk paint chipped and cracked after drying overnight. I was able to remove all the Gesso and paint with a wet rag and decided to prime the glass with polycrylic which worked great on the jars. I'm keeping the Gesso, because I want to use it to prime a wooden table before painting.

I originally was looking for Gesso by a Brand name company but all of those were either sold out or in too big of a size. Then I found this. I have never heard of Mont Marte before (maybe it has been around long?). And so after thinking about it and reading reviews I chose to buy it. Right size, right price. I am truly suprised at how good this Gesso is. The best part no bad smell. I feel it will last a long time due to size and that you don't really need to use a huge amount. The quality is great to me. And ease of use total A from me. I do prefer bottles but this jar will suit my needs perfectly.

This stuff is beautiful. Creamy and covers in one coat. I will definitely buy it again. Very happy with this purchase.

It's a bit pricy but really good.
