It’s been YEARS since I’ve done any embroidery, so this was an easy one to get started again with.

Many years ago I did a lot of embroidery like this. It was hard to find when counted cross stitch came out. This will be a fall project for me.

I wouldn't say this is straight-up for beginners because the directions/instructions took a while to understand. I think some of the instructions came in Chinese too. Maybe it's just me, but I was super lucky to have a friend who was into sewing near me who gave me some more pointers and tricks. I had two other friends who thought they understood the instructions only until 10% into embroidering until they realized they used the entire strand versus pulling the string apart.NOW that I have gotten some basic tutorials or tips, I will probably order some more just to practice or gift!

I have purchased many embroidery kits and learned to embroider when I was little. I cannot comment on the ease of instructions because I already knew what I was doing. What I do want to comment on is the floss and fabric. Compared to other reasonably priced kits such as this, the floss gets tangled easier and is a little stiff and almost coarse. This makes it a little more difficult to work with. The fabric has too much of a stretch to it (imo). If you do a satin stitch, too much (normal amount) tension and you'll begin to really see pulling holes. I have not experienced this with other kits. However, I LOVE the price of these kits and for my purposes they are fine. Just a heads up.Love the pattern and all the accessories that came with.

Needles are absolutely useless! Have to buy separately

I changed the colors slightly with thread I already had. I also used a larger eyed needle than the ones provided. Worked better for me.As this was my first try at embroidery. I think in the future I may attempt some of the stitches before putting them to the actual piece. Over all a nice little kit.

I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this hobby or not so this was the perfect starter kit for an absolute beginner like me. The instructions are pretty clear but I did supplement by watching YouTube videos to learn how to make some stitches look better and learn other tips. From the prospective of someone who has never done embroidery before, this was a perfect kit.
