What is the difference between this polish and the Saphir Pommadier cream polish?

Hi Todd,This particular product is a very intense color stain. You will need to apply the cream polish over it to give the item some sheen. This can help bring something faded back to life. When I ordered it, I wasn't completely certain of its use but for an odd colored pair of blue leather shoes,  it covered scuffs and brightened the look. It did not give any sheen or shine.  This company makes many different products and it can be confusing. I recommend a search for info and videos, if further interested. I hope this information helps.

Has anyone tried the neutral/incolor? My main concern is darkening of the shoes and the water repellency.

I have used the neutral color on some beige smooth leather shoes. These shoes have a variety of different leathers, and there may be a small amount of darkening, but also an increase in water repellency. In my opinion they look better than before.

Shoes are a medium brown with a grayish tint. Which polish colors would be best?

Wow that a good question must be some high end shoes.  I would use the light brown and see if results work for you and the other option is to purchase  their neutral.  I have sond shoes that are different colors that are hard to match and I use neutral often.  Please don't forget your shoe conditioner,
