Great Bass but consider . . .
Some things you should consider before buying this bass.1. It is made of mostly mahogany with a cedar top - it is heavy.2. It's a 5 string so the strings are a little closer together than a 4 string bass.3 I didn't find that it resonated any better than any other bass but it does project very well unplugged.4. Finish is a satin type feel and craftsmanship is very nice.5. Plays very well right out of the box - I didn't make any adjustments to mine and I'm very satisfied.6. Built in tuner doesn't pick up the notes very well unless you use harmonics at the 12th fret to tune.7. I looked everywhere and could not find a case for this instrument.8. I didn't find the side port as impressive as the ads made it sound - actually most of the sound you hear is from the top. The side port just isn't that functional although it may contribute to some of the sound.9. Great price - I don't think you can find an acoustic of this quality in this price range that's comparable to the BC Bass.10. I've been playing guitar and bass for over 38 years and would recommend this bass to anyone - it's very satisfying to play.

Boulder Creek EBR-N3-N5
I bought this bass and liked the sound a lot,but returned the bass and bought a Breedlove.I liked the sound of the Breedlove better. The Breedlove has a nice preamp and also comes with a case. This BC bass you have to pay extra for the case. The Breedlove was also built in the US which the Boulder Creek was not. There were certain things I did not like about the BC and wrote to the company about it but I was given the impression that they were satisfied with what they had,and did not need any criticism from someone that has been playing bass for 45 years. That's when I sent it back!

The design gives you a greater acoustic volume than anything else I've tried with a brilliant growl especially from the low "E"
Playing in a bluegrass band and having tried for years to get an acoustic bass with volume and tone ( so I dont always have to take the ol' doghouse bass) I finally found most of the solution. The design gives you a greater acoustic volume than anything else I've tried with a brilliant growl especially from the low "E". The side sound port gives you some personal monitoring which helps when youre in a large gathering (open mic and the like). Strings came with it are Labella bronze - never been much of a bronze fan because of finger noise but I'll run with them for a while. Its a big bass (and that helps the sound) but I had no problem with the body size or neck and I've got fairly large fingers. Found a genuine BC hard case on Amazon at a great price so I can look after it in my gigs and travels.Overall I'm very very pleased with both the quality and the responsiveness of the bass - another arm to my bow and I'm looking forward to doing some recording through the pick up and pre-amp. Thanks to the Guys at BC/Morgan Hill or a great instrument.

Worth every penny!
I've played bass 20 years, 5 string electric and upright acoustic. I bought the 5 string and have been very pleased. Smooth playing instrument with a great sound. I especially appreciate the fret lines and dots! The top placement of the sound hole is unique and interesting. I did have a difficult time finding a case for it. That's the only thing I would improve.
