The best purchase I have ever made
So I’ve used a fountain for my cat for a while, first the cat-it fountain and then a stainless steel one that held more water. The stainless steel one was getting incredibly slimy so quickly, I had to full on take it apart and wash it almost every other day. So after some digging I decided on this ceramic one, my favorite one yet. So, my favorite thing is that it’s an open bowl so that if the power goes out, my cat can still drink. I love that it doesn’t make any noise at all, either the motor or the running water. I can’t stand the sound of a water fountain running, or like that fish tank trinkle sound. My other 2 fountains did that if they got even like an inch lower than full. This one is quiet and amazing. Since the motor is in the bottom and pushes the water up through the big dome in the middle, it can get pretty low and still function, but I wouldn’t recommend relying on that cause you don’t wanna burn out the motor. I love the open bowl because it’s also easy to visually see when you need to refill it and you just pour it right in. This thing is so easy to clean, literally everything except the motor is dishwasher safe, and the cord has a thing where it detaches in the middle so that you can pull the motor out without having to weave the whole cord and plug through the hole. It’s physically so easy and simple to take apart, there aren’t like a hundred pieces of things that all collect slime. I usually clean mine once a week but I’ve left it for a lot longer just being lazy and topping it off, and the slime only developed after a few weeks. It does come with a filter that you can use, but it works without it too. You have to still use the filter housing to help give the water a way to get to the top of the dome, but I left the filter out because I use filtered water already, and I like to use a dental additive that I didn’t want to get filtered out immediately. To be a crazy cat lady just a little, I also love that the ceramic keeps the water pretty cold. I give my cat water out of the water pitcher we keep in the fridge and I’ve noticed he drinks more if it’s a little chilly. Last thing, and what really sealed the deal. The filter housing is pretty much the only plastic thing, and one day I didn’t put it in my dishwasher right (my fault) and it fell to the bottom and melted on the heating element that’s on there. Absolutely my own fault. But! The customer service for this fountain is amazing, I contacted them and they sent me a replacement piece for it, and the shipping was so fast. It didn’t even have to be that fast because without using the motor this is still a decent regular water bowl. But definitely a company worth investing in, and a really good quality and thought out product.

Easy to clean
After 6 weeks I thoroughly cleaned this bowl. I think I should have cleaned and changed the filter a week ago. It was very dirty, but easy to clean. The dog likes this water bowl and I think it encourages her to drink. The water pump is very quiet, but when the water is low it does make some noise. You need to keep the bowl filled properly. If you are careful handling the bowl it should last a long time.

Silent, splashless, and lovely
The pump is extremely quiet, and the flow of water creates zero splashes -- so I can't hear this from 10 feet away. Which is exactly what I wanted! My fountain sits on linoleum, but since my cat isn't a splasher when she drinks, I would have no problem putting the fountain on carpet instead. My cat doesn't use the bubbling region at the top of the dome; she only drinks from the well at the bottom. So I shoved the pump assembly over towards one of the sides to make the well area larger. I wish there wasn't a rectangular depression in the middle of the bottom dish to indicate where to attach the pump, because the irregularity of the bottom means the dome is slightly tilted when I move it all to one side. But the tilt is not very noticeable, and everything still works the same way with no leaking or splashing. I chose this unit partly because the cat can still drink from it when the power goes out, because the well at the bottom is open -- a lot of other modern fountains basically hide the well and just have a spout or shallow dish at the top, but when the pump isn't on, the water is all drained to the bottom. Something to think about if you are considering different models! My cat is on 100% dry food for dietary reasons, so I keep a gallon of purified water nearby and top up the fountain once a day. I clean the whole thing every week, at least washing biofilm off all the surfaces and rinsing out the mesh filter that fits around the pump. I replace the filter every few weeks. When you replace the filter, be sure to rinse the new one thoroughly with water and tap and shake it a bunch to remove the excess carbon dust; otherwise, your fountain will quickly accumulate black smudges on the ceramic surfaces touched by the water. There is no risk to your pets' health though. Overall a great find!

Best so far.
Quiet, easy to assemble & clean, weighty so it is stable and doesn't tip over or move around, cat seems to like it. Way better than plastic for the animals, and it looks better in the house than the stainless or plastic types.

Best cat fountain based on hours of research
I honestly love this fountain. It’s essentially silent (even when I sleep with it only a few feet away) and it has a large capacity so I can comfortably leave my two cats at home during my long days at work knowing they’ll have plenty of water. My cats enjoy drinking from it so much that they actually refuse to drink still water anymore, which means I have more pressure of me to clean it quickly once the need arises but regardless I’ll take the hydration win. My only complaint is that it’s a bit clunky if you’re just drying to replace the water because the two main pieces aren’t connected so when it’s turned upside down to dump the water, if your hand isn’t securely holding the dome piece in place, it could fall and crack your sink from it being heavy ceramic (unfortunately from experience). However, all in all I’m incredibly pleased: the material means harbors less bacteria and therefore gets less gross with that slimy residue, it’s pretty ease to understand how to take it apart and put it together again, and most of all my cats aren’t confused with how to use it. I tried a stainless steel fountain before this one and it was louder and got dirty almost instantly due to the filtration system being a joke. The filter for this fountain is annoying in its own way because of how much you need to rinse it to get the carbon powder off but otherwise it does a good job at filtering hair and other debris. I replace the water and use my hand to wipe the bowl section around every 2 days and fully clean it out pump and all around every 3 weeks. I also use a water additive (Vetradent) in the fountain with no issue. The fountain fits about 6 cups of water plus the additive which is two small medicine style cups worth. I did tireless research on cat fountains and I feel really pleased with what I landed on, so I wanted to share my positive experience to hopefully save someone else the hours of time researching that I had to spend.

easy to clean
very few parts/surfaces takes 5 minutes to empty, wipe/brush all surfaces including motor and impeller. peaceful and meditative. and yes the cats like it too!. they lick the top, the bowl area is narrow so my maine coon with her big muzzle can't lap from the bowl but she doesn't mind. Heavy ceramic but solid

Kitties love it
I bought the PetSafe Ceramic Pet Fountain for my three cats, two of whom are teenagers. As my boys get older I worry about their water intake. They love it and they're better hydrated than ever. The filters also do their jobs and the motor has run for a long time. You do need to pay attention to directions during assembly because there is only one way it goes together, and you'll have to remember that every time you change the filter. The ceramic looks great and seems like it will last forever assuming I don't drop it, and the little motor to run the fountain hasn't missed a step, and it runs quietly enough that it doesn't scare any of the cats off (unless the water level gets low). And with the moving water and the ceramic, it doesn't attract any unwanted living slimy things, which is nice.

the best fountain on the market but the pump doesn’t last that long.
Great fountain, love how quiet it is and all our furry friends drink from it without hesitation. I took away one star because mine is only a year old and the pump needs to be replaced. Maybe I’m wrong but I thought it would last longer than a year. Looking for a new pump now.

Expensive and probably overpriced. Nonetheless, it is easy to clean, works well, and is very quiet. I was specifically looking for a fountain that would still provide access to water if the power goes out, and this design does that well. Definitely a splurge, but it looks great in the home.

Worth the money
After comparing so many fountains, I’ve been using this ceramic one for two months and love it. I avoided plastic (hard to clean/noisy) and stainless steel (water drains away during power outages, weird metal smell). Pros: -If the power goes out, there’s still water on top for the cat to drink. -Zero motor or water noise. -Ceramic material is hygienic and dishwasher safe. Cons: -It’s heavy/fragile, so you have to be careful when carrying it to wash. Cleaning takes about 10 minutes every few days. -I change the water daily, so I only use the pump filter. It requires a bit of maintenance, but seeing my cat healthy and hydrated makes it 100% worth it!

Pricey but worth it
The flowing water encourages your pet to drink and the water is constantly being filtered. The waterfall is very quiet and gentle, as to not scare the pet. My 2 cats love it, but it took 1 of my cats about a month to not be afraid of it and start drinking. While your cat gets used to it, avoid showing it to the cat without the cover, as that will slow down progress. The pump will make a quiet humming if the water is below 3/4 full, otherwise it is silent.
