Superb value all-rounder, it does have its quirks though...
I have to say I'm really impressed. I've been over in Mac-world for the last few years or so so this is my first PC laptop in about 8 years - the last one being an Acer, which I was really impressed with. I came back to PC because I've found myself gaming less on my Xbox and more on a PC... which, despite what Apple tell you, is not much better these days on a Mac than it was (check the Steam store for Mac downloads if you don't believe me) - so I wanted something with a bit of grunt. That said, my top two games at the moment are Fallout 4 and Euro Truck Simulator 2 so they're not exactly cutting edge - but this machine will run them both at max settings without even breaking a sweat. I've got the "CoolBoost" setting on and my CPU/GPU fans never get above half speed even if I'm knee-deep in Deathclaws somewhere in my modded wasteland. So, yes, it's got grunt - and as I use a laptop at work too my machine has a dual personality and this is where this, for my money, comes into its own. As a laptop it's got a number pad - which I find really useful when doing invoices and things - the keys are quiet but usable and its keyboard isn't too cramped. There are a couple of hot-keys which are badly placed (I keep accidentally launching the Killer Control Center and occasionally the Nitrosense app) but that's a minor inconvenience. I'm pleased to see a multi-touch trackpad that actually works too, something I was really missing from Macbooks. From a "business" sense however, this laptop Excel-s (ha, sorry) with its battery life. PC battery life has always been pap to be honest but this will go at full settings for most of a working day. Where I work I mainly have it connected to a monitor and plugged in, but I wanted a decent battery for when I was at home. This doesn't disappoint. The TL;DR of this is - huge amounts of grunt for a budget laptop, great battery life. Those Acer quirks however - thin (read - easily broken) screen, the annoying way the screen flexes and leaves an imprint of the keyboard on it when closed and the not amazingly robust plastics with a slightly square aesthetic - will bother some people. My advice is, should this be the right laptop for you, is to look after it and buy a decent case/carry bag.

i7 Killer at 799 quid!
Really nice quality feel and look machine, Ryzen CPU (beats any of the Intel alternatives by a mile), GTX 1650ti, decent Intel WiFi card (recommend to upgrade drivers for Intel BT & Wifi) and Gigabit Lan. The only downside at this price was 8GB but i upgrade to 16GB dual channel to get even more performance. It boots in no time and feels very responsive. You can add another m.2 or Sata ssd or both in future if your drive fills up. Also has mouse and headset in the box. I will give it to my son tomorrow and I know he be over the moon and back! Really good deal!

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-44 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop AMD Ryzen 5 Bundle
Review of Acer Nitro 5 AN515-44 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop AMD Ryzen 5 What can I say, ticks all the boxes, superb laptop with a very decent specification for a really modest price , well done Acer ! top marks !! Mine came with a Western Digital sn530 512gb nvme ssd drive , which runs really well , laptop runs almost whisper quiet, fan speed only increasing during long intensive gaming sessions. The built in Geoforce GTX1650TI gpu can handle most AAA titles with ease , GTA 5, Battlefield V, Star wars battlefront 2 , Fortnite , and COD modern warfare without any heavy frame drops/lagging/stutters. It has a 144hz full HD screen with a hdmi output port built in which is great for throwing over your gaming sessions onto a big screen to enjoy. The thermal cooling is excellent and the laptop hardly ever gets to hot. Windows Os boots amazingly fast running off the internal nvme ssd drive, no more waiting around for a PC to boot up, horrah !!. Battery life is pretty much standard on par, averaging 5 hours plus before reaching 10 % capacity . The keyboard has red backlit keys which you can adjust the brightness to your taste, the enclosed gaming mouse also has light up leds and responds really well to use and is pretty ergonomical in design and function. Headset is pretty decent aswell , sound out of the cans is crystal clear and quite bassy , the mic is also very clear from feedback I have recieved on skype calls. It comes with 1X8gb ram stick with 2 slots in total on the motherboard. Maximum ram capacity being 2X16gb sticks so 32gb ram overall. It has 2 nvme ssd slots in total , so you can easily add another nvme ssd drive in , if you wish to upgrade and have the extra storage space. It also has a spare bay for a sata ssd drive if you wish to add even more storage to your laptop, which is a bonus. It features integrated wifi 6 and bluetooth connectivity. The inbuilt speakers are perfectly fine, certainly not the loudest but the Dts sound is very clear. The trackpad functions well and is slightly off centre to the left which works well as it gives you more room to rest your wrist on whilst moving around on the trackpad if your right handed person. It doesn't really have much pre installed bloatware, usual trial copy of Ms office, and Norton security but that's about it. The only negatives I would say are it does suffer from a bit of backlight bleeding on black screens, but isn't really much of an issue when gaming as the screen is very vibrant and clear its definately one of the best screens I have used. Built in webcam is a bit meh ! only 0.9 megapixel with 720p recording. Another downside being in order to update the internal ram or storage you need to remove the whole back cover by unscrewing the panel and prying it off, its not easily accessible . Overall I'm really pleased with my purchase and can fully endorse it to others.

Good performance, good price
Bought this as I'd given my other laptops away for the children's studies. Well specced at a decent price, good processor and reasonably powerful GPU. Seems well built and thinner than I was expecting for the performance. Really like the fact you can have 2 NVME drives & a SATA drive inside the machine and upgradable RAM. It's early days, but battery life seems fine for my needs too. Had to remove a lot of shovelware installed on the machine and tame win10 - but nothing unusual there. Linux will be going on there soon. Only real gripe is that I don't like the positioning of the trackpad, not enough room on the left side for my hand without encroaching on the pad and it seems far too sensitive even with most of the settings dialled back. Good job I'll mostly be using a mouse with it. Overall, though, very happy so far.

I don't recommend
The screen broken in two months of use. It's a good laptop but have a low longevity life.
